War has come down on Calradia and war attracts its own bunch of misfits. Mercenaries, cutthroats, knights and adventurers flood into the land looking for adventure, fortune and glory. But war is a harsh master. It gives away death and grief to the lot, fortune to a chosen few, and glory, wise men say, to none. Still, men ride to war, for one or other reason. Some because they are looking for thrill and excitement, some because they are desperate and know no other way. Some because they are so bitter and hateful that they are willing to unleash doom on earth... And yet some, because they are the very heroes who will step forward to stop that...

 

Mount and blade is a single player RPGish type game, but mainly is centered around the fighting. It's set around the medieval times and has got the awesomest hand to hand/horse to horse combat ever, kind of resembles oblivions combat.

 

Has anyone ever played this game? I used to love it, was so damn addictive, plus its still ini it's BETA. Its made by an indie game developer too. Definetly worth a go since its free up to level six. Good for people who are about Gameplay over graphics.

 

The gameplay is like the Total War games, you move your army around the map by clicking, you can visit towns and cities, buy new armor/weapons and click on an enemy army and chose to attack. The combat is so special, its like the Total War games except instead of an RTS view, its thirdperson or firstperson. It's hard to explain its awesomeness, just give it a go.

There's an awesome LotR mod for this called The Last Days, so much fun. You can play as Gondor, Rohan, Elves, Isengard, Moria, or Mordor and go around conquering the major cities and fighting major heroes from the LotR series.

Yeah, that was great, still waiting till they port it to their latest built. Band of Warriors is a good one too.

Great little game, combat is really fun.

 

I wish it had some sort of multiplayer mode though, co-op battles would be soo much fun.

Apparently after he finishes it, he'll be starting a new engine for M&B2 which is going to have multiplayer. No doubt i'd be buying a new serial key for that.
