ceedot Posted January 14, 2008 Share Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) Many people, including myself are worried about GTA IV, and whether it could match up to SA standards with it's features, freedom, and strong storyline. After reading this, it makes me wonder how they could go over what SA has given us: Is this new focus for the next-generation GTA more on the world itself or the character's story and his role in the world? "Every aspect of the game has been ramped up," offers Brown. "The storyline has never been as important as it is now. But then, the things you can do in the world have been multiplied exponentially. There's a freedom of choice like you wouldn't believe." Tantalisingly, though, Rockstar isn't ready to give examples of many of those things just yet. "But I promise you we will, later on". They first state that the 'The storyline has never been as important as it is now.' Obviously from the trailers, we already see evidense of this. Most of the other trailers from other GTA's have been action, and gameplay. Rockstar have given us information on the story, and we have already connected with Niko, and his story of survival, and redemption. They then say 'the things you can do in the world have been multiplied exponentially' and 'There's a freedom of choice like you wouldn't believe' which amazes me. As we all know, San Andreas had heaps of features, a large variety of choice and freedom. If Rockstar could actually do what they say they do, I believe GTA IV could set the new standard for games of ever genre. Could IV match SA's freedom and standards in gaming, or even more? Not to say its 75x as many things as SA had, but probably as much if not a little bit more, but most will cater to the game much better than alot of other SA stuff. does that make any sense? Because they're plain useless and a waste of time. I'd honestly have them rather replace the GF thing, with maybe have Niko have a job, so you could earn money that way. They are going to set a standard that alot of gaming companies will find hard to achieve, Rockstar is on hell of a company and no-doubt will just show how great they are. Niko does have a job....he kills people, and robs people and blackmails people, and blows people up, and anyway I think "the level of freedom in this game will be unparalleled"(and you can quote me on this). Algonquin Assassin Posted January 14, 2008 Share Posted January 14, 2008 I reckon GTA IV will be as much of a advancement from SA, as GTA III was from GTA II. Sure there maybe things from SA that are taken out (Like the planes. Which we already know about), but there will also be alot of things added. That dinky piece of sh*t, barely redable map? Other than its basic shape do you know what the islands look like? Do you know all the street names that intertwine? How many buildings there are in this map? How many of them are enterable? What shops are located in this map? How many police stations there are? How many of Niko's girlfriend's house exist? Where they are? Where Niko's hide outs are? What do we know about the characters? That Niko has a "past"? That a fat black chick is a drug dealer? That a white guy knows how he rolls? And what story do we know? Niko has been tricked so now hes in America. And? Why does he even need to be in America? Theres so many questions and no answers. Most of the facts we've obtained were from screenshots of trailers. None gameplay. What does the HUD look like? How do you control Niko's combat system. WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE? We dont even know that but you believe we know one-third of the game already? Each to their own, man. Thats all I gotta say. Til than happy huntin for that sauce. I wouldn't mind if they give us a release date and that's it. As for the features, they are very hidden with them. They must be something we may have not even thought of. I say that because any percentage figure like that is quite ambiguous to say the least. That's because there's so many different features and things that are of widely varying importance to people. The Internet™ could potentially be a HUGE feature, for example, but some might not be impressed (though that's doubtful in my mind). But I agree, they haven't revealed much at all, for obvious reasons, and I also think we'll see another round of previews/infos that will shore up that 30% claim better. Tick tock, tick tock... Yea the clock is ticking. And if they are gonna give us a final preview(hopefully Kikizo) then they need to hurry up. But i suspect that if they do give us a another preview, then it will be the last one. So, they would have to release it at a good time. Not too early, to leave us craving for more, and not too late. So i think MAYBE we will get one last real preview(not the mini preview from ign about characters) maybe in early March.. But it all depends on when the game will be released. So who really knows..
