Not sure if anybody on the forum listens to the IGN Xbox 360 Podcast ''3 Red Lights'' but the most recent podcast took the topic of ''Anticipated titles of 2008''

To cut it short..Hilary Goldstein and a few others were some that witnessed the game in motion (around 3 times i think he states) and he gives some insight into what/what not to expect, i'm going to post his exact words later on tonight to save everybody listening to the hour+ long Podcast.

Check out IGN -- Podcasts -- ''3 Red Lights Episode 20'' if you'd rather not wait..

Typically podcasts are MP3, but you say Xbox, can a Sony person check this out?

Oh, I may just wait for the transcript anyway

My bad, it's basically in the Podcast section of IGN so anybody can listen.

Going to transcribe it now..

Do you have to be an "Insider" member to listen to these podcasts? confused.gif

A transcript would be good provided they give some interesting information or observations from the game.

My bad if it makes little sense, I tried...

*The 2 other editors are listing their most anticipated games of '08*

Hil: Well you guys are missing one big big game...and that's GTA 4.

Ed 2: Ohhh yeahh GTA IV!

Hil: I'm not a huge GTA Fan, i think 3 made a lot of steps, but Vice City was kinda crappy game, and San Andreas threw too much crap all over the place..

Hil: GTA IV though, quite seriously, having seen it..3 times now? Our readers don't understand..it's really subtle (the changes)..but I don't think our readers quite understand how different that game is..from the last GTA's

Hil: If you looked at it i guess, right away you'd probably go ''Ahh HEY, THAT'S GTA!'' I think that's what most people are assuming right now..but honestly, it's got a real pace to it now..it's a lot more cinematic..

Ed 2: Yer it's seems very cinematic...

Hil: It's way more low key an that doesn't mean you're not gunna have big battles with cops and all kinds of crazy stuff, an you get to run over whores and whatever they're gunna have in there

Ed 2: *Laughs* Whores...

Hil: ..And jack cars an all that stuff..but i mean it has like much more of like..i would say, if the others were Michael Bay(SP?) films, this is like a Scorsese(SP?) film..this is like Mean Streets..this is like GTA:Mean Streets..

Ed 2: *Mad scientist voice* Let the hype begiiinn...

Hil: That's how i view it..i mean it's still gunna be violent an it's still gunna be awesome..but it's gunna be a very different feel to it..

Ed 3: Well from what i've seen it kinda had the same vibe, where Mass Effect is truly cinematic in it's conversations..in that they don't just put the camera on 2 guys standing there..it pans, it zooms in, it gives you the emotion..in past GTAs you're basically looking at 2 blocky dudes standing there with voice over...with the new one you see the setting up of great shots and emotional situations

Ed 2: *Talks how videogames are becoming like movies*

Hil: Thing is we've seen 3 3D GTA Games, but we had a group of us seeing this game the last time we saw it 3/4 months ago...an it was the first time we saw somebody getting shot in the game. You basically had some mission where you had to go down to the water, figure out who this guy is and then shoot him. You had his cellphone number, so you call him, you see who answers there phone, an then you basically go up to him an shoot him...an when your guy Niko shoots him...you gotta think, this is a GTA game, how many times have you shot or seen somebody get shot..in any game

Ed 2: *Laughs* Yer, thousands of times...

Hil: Like i'm telling you, these seasoned guys, all of us jumped, and all of us were like ''WOAH'' Like it was really impressive that they could create a moment where it was actually shocking to watch your character kill somebody, in a GTA game no less..

Hil: The fact the city is just really detailed, really big, it just has a..i'd say a much more 'urban' feel to it..

Hil: Oddly somehow,i think GTA will be a sleeper, people will think it's gunna be the same old thing, an they're gunna be really suprised..that its not.

*Go on to talk about Downloadable Episodic content on 360*

''THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT.''

Just to be clear, these are the opinions of Hilary Goldstein of IGN who has witnessed the game in motion. None of this is my words.

The one fella really hypes IV. I love the way he talks about their reaction to seeing someone get shot for the first time, or how he says most folks will assume this is yet another addition to the older games of the series, even calling it a "sleeper" title. I hope we're closer to this game's release than I think. As brief as this was, it really got me excited.

Emm Ell thanks for letting me know about this because I would never of known otherwise I never listen to IGN podcasts icon14.gif

The game sounds great even though they never really revealed anything about the game (as expected) the fact one of the guys was shocked when Niko shot the blackmailer guy from that second big demonstration preview from months ago sounds cool. Why would he of been shocked though because it felt more realistic or the fact kills are more graphic?

I cannot wait for the game damn.

Can you say where in the podcast they are saying this? I've read your script and I'm really hyped now! Love that part they got shocked when Niko killed a guy. I really want this game so bad! biggrin.gif

Never mind. It begins in 19 min 10 sec.

Sure man, they start talking about it at 19:05 and end at around 23 mins

To anybody thinking of listening the first 15 minutes they talk about damn Lost!! Be warned!

To MysteryGamer: I think they were really shocked at it all, they've hyped the sound, feel of power and effects on the victim before. I'm really excited about the shooting and feeling of holding a weapon aspect of the game icon14.gif

This is what excites me. The same old GTA would be boring, we need a new more realistic thing. Rockstar, in an interview about L.A. Noire (a PS3 exclusive) they talk about how R* wants to move more towards total realism, every building diffenerent with all different unique interiors, they spoke of how Blu-Ray and cell tech's will now give them this freedom.

here is the video:

It made me pretty excited that one game company is trying to make realistic games, and if it turns out that the PS3 will make them make the games that they always wanted to make, then maybe I may have to sell my 360 after playing the DC and then buy a PS3.

He sounded really impressed and he even admitted that he is not even really a big fan of the series.

Another thing that sounds amazing "literally" is that the game sounds incredible according to Kikizo the over all atomosphere sounds like real life New York, the traffic, music blaring out of cars etc and I went to New York last summer it is a pretty amazing place I was only there for 4 days as well. I think Rockstar are going to really out do themselves with Grand Theft Auto IV. inlove.gif

For sure!

It's been what..just over 10 years since the first GTA? (I think i'm wrong but hey smile.gif )

It will be amazing, perhaps even moving, to see how far GTA (and games as a whole) have evolved in such little time..

Nothing new, but I still enjoyed it.

I like how they described their stunned reaction when Niko offed that guy. Obviously there's no more big, colorful, bouncing arrows to guide us to kills, evidenced by Niko having to call the guy (who was in a crowd) and wait to see who picked up their phone. I'd imagine the shock came when they realized that it's much more grown up than the past. The gun probably sounded more realistic, the peds in the vicinity more than likely started screaming/running, the mark probably had blood all over him, and if he was still alive, euphorically acted as a person who's been shot would, etc. etc.

The film analogy he made there was good, although it obviously isn't universal. As the dude said, GTA IV might be a 'sleeper hit' in some regard because a lot of people are expecting just more of the same, when that's clearly not the case!

Anyhow, if it turns out how I think it will - since R* are determined to not release anywhere near as much info as they did before SA - you got yourself a recipe for a HUGE surprise when it's finally released and the word spreads. They're obviously trying to re-capture the thunder that GTA III had when it came out.

Jeezus, I can't wait for this game...

___

Edit:

Thats one thing, that i cant wait to experience. Just the atmoshpere of the city...

Yeah, that'll surely be something amazing. icon14.gif
