Here are some videos of how powerful the Ak-47 truely is.

After watching the last couple of Vids of the glock,

I check out the Ak-47 and I truely believe we will be causing some

major damage this Feb-April while playing the GTA IV.

The Sound of the Ak-47

The History of the Ak-47

The Number 1 best combat rifle

But I also checked out the trailers and a couple screenshot where Niko is Holding an M16.

Heres the Comparison

I mean no offense to the TS, but are we gonna have a topic for each of the weapons now? Hmm, next up...Niko's Boxcutter! rolleyes.gif

j/k

______

@Topic:

I can't wait to fire that thing; especially with the way they're tuning the game to make the experience of having a simple pistol, let alone an AK, much more meaningful. It should be no less than f*cking amazing the first time we pull that thing out of the trunk/boot in the middle of Times Square Star Junction. icon14.gif

The box cutter is indeed a very sharp and dangerous blade. Feel bad for what might happen to Niko. LOL icon14.gif

The first video just scared me. Imagine gettting attacked with that. Although i could think of one person id use it on  sign-thompson.gif

Edit- keep em coming interesting stuff.  icon14.gif

It's not nice, believe me, the shock will do you more harm than the bullet.

And guns don't kill instantly - GTA and other videogames make it look like you fall dead a few seconds after being shot. In real life, you don't fall down dead, but dying and stay like that for over like ten minutes! Hope R* don't put that in.

And just remember, the Klashnikov is the most popular Killing Machine - because that is it's purpose.

Indeed. biggrin.gif

It'll be interesting to use that, especially if we can inflict localized wounds with blood, people screaming, and all that jazz.

@KillerKabel: There was a weapons thread awhile back. I'll try and see if I can find it.

I respect your view - but I'm sure your someone whose never been shot. I'd rather they keep it to the level of GTA 3, but making it like you said will have a more positive social effect - showing the true evil, disturbing nature of guns and killing, rather than a sugar-coated view where they fall dead in a few seconds.

technically, the M-16 is better.

That comparison vid is brill! I'd agree the M16 is better and seeing as this is a GTA forum, San an was the most realistic copy of these two guns: the AK was more powerfull but the M4/M16 was more accurate and had better range plus a larger magazine.

then anyone notice in the third trailer, in one of the scenes where its a close up of niko shooting an ak47 and he is clearly shooting one round at a time as if the gun was switched for semi-automatic. that brings the question to me that, would u be able to choose certain firing modes on certain guns in the game just like how a real ak has the option of being fired at fully automatic and semi atuomatic, i dont think anyone has brought this up before but it seems like a minor detail that proves R*'s level of detail in the game

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier.

But no, I've never been shot, myself. Though, one of my cousin's took a ricochet to the head, and miraculously lived. Before that happened he did meth, and because of that, and the shot damage itself, he had to take seizure medication, along with a whole lot of other treatment.

The closest thing to a fatal wound that's been inflicted on me was a couple cuts from a broken bottle. It cut very deep into my left palm, as well as the back of my forearm....there was a lot of blood. In fact, I wrapped my shirt around it and the whole shirt ended up being saturated red, and dripping, it was so bad. That was during a fight, when I was about 13 or 14 years old.

Very serious stuff, though not nearly as unfortunate as what so many other people suffer, I can't even imagine. When it comes to real life situations, there's absolutely nothing funny about it at all. So, I apologize if I offended anyone with that previous statement there. It is just a video game as I'm sure you keep in mind, and that's the whole reason I said that.

As for them applying that sort of thing to the game, it should be balanced. I don't expect, and nor do I want, an all-out gore fest. On the other hand, it needs to be credible and not sugar-coated, like you said, for obvious reasons. I'm pretty sure they said damage and blood will be localized now, and just overall evolved and less cartoony/fake than the past.

You have a good point about GTA IV raising social awareness for that sort of thing. I'm just not so sure they could pull that off, though. Sadly, I see such a feature as having more of a negative a/effect since there are so many little kids playing the game, who wouldn't be as enlightened to it as you'd hope. Combine that with people like JT and certain televised news stories and you have a complete overcast. For those reasons -- as well as the strict censors who are probably watching R* since the Manhunt mess (though IV will be far from Manhunt) -- R* will probably just think about making a great game that dodges controversy.

However, I know many people will take note of such things in the right way, for what it's worth. Since me and a few other people seem to think they are focusing more on the storytelling and overall social commentary this time around, it could turn out to be something on that higher, more honed plateau, if you will. GTA has never really come close to capturing that type of quality, in my mind. I'm talking about our feelings and morals entering the fray - some people would say that's stupid, since it's just a game, but if they did it right, it would serve other purposes besides immersion. From what they've said, having weapons means much more now, and crime in general is a lot harder to get away with and has a bigger impact. As you can figure out, stuff like that goes beyond simple gameplay continuity and possibly into the area we're talking about. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it all.

Thank you very much for the reply man, you did not at all offend me.

I've just been shot once in the leg - and the shock of it - or probably falling and hitting my head - knocked me out, so I just woke up fixed up at a hospital. Your experience seems to be a lot more serious than mine, so I appologise for stupidly misjudging you as someone who just wants a gore-fest.

As for you point, I totally agree. I think they do need a good balance between realism and what avoids controversy like you said.

As you have probably noticed from my many posts here, my faverout GTA is GTA3 - it's gore is not that much more than VC and the others based on it's engine - but what I greatly enjoyed must have been the storyline. There, Claude did a lot of very amoral actions - without even thinking about them like with the missions with Marty Chonks. I'd love for GTA4 to have a similar feel - affecting the player's morals more and stirring more strong feelings in the player. I think the best way for that to happen - in my opinion anyway - is for Niko to behave in a totally different way to what the player would like. This way, the player will think 'I would have did it so differently'.

If Niko behaived like most players would - he will still do things differently to what the player wants (if that makes any sense confused.gif ), as we are all different, thus he will provoke both positive and negative emotions and they will cancel each other out, thus no strong emotions are provoked.

So I do totally agree, I'd love them to concentrate a lot more on the storyline, and generally make the game more grown up - without (so much) comic relief characters like OG Loc and Rosenberg, but I'd like more Asuka Kasens and Rays.

Everybody know the Ak 47 but I think we will use it when we are in real trouble versus 50 guys with SPAS 12. devil.gif

SPAS 12 gauge has a short range. Shorter then trowing a knife. So you could kill some guys with SPAS if you are throwing knifes good enough biggrin.gif
