Ok this might sound very weird but I can't find the ****ing forklift! I need this in the very early game with "nines and ak's" being my next mission but I can't find a forklift anywhere... Even vehicle location maps don't show them being in Los Santos...

You want the Tampa BP/EP/FP/DP.

 

Well, then Suggest you get a Service Vehicle and cruise around down by the docks and the underpass that goes under the LS Airport. They will usually appear moving at a higher speed than you can acheive on them but stop in front of one and jack it.

Zmoonchild once got the Tampa for me when I was playing the PC version but now the platform has changed and I'm on the PS2 so I guess I'll have to do it myself.

About the docks, I already did a full scale search but still couln't find any forklifts lying around. any other places it could be?

Close to the docks is the in town freeway and you will see a forklift if you cruise that area in service vehicles for awhile. It usually doesn't matter what kind but the Service Van or the Packer or Tow Trucks are pretty good choices.

Nope.

 

Just to get it there and you have to push it some and sometimes it won't hitch right away but it has been awhile. The problem isn't the gettting it where you want it. The problem is flipping it so the Tampa and Glendale get destroyed simutaneously and you need the forklift for that.

There's a fixed Forklift spawn in the LS docks area. Try checking the SAM Java map; some maps don't have it listed. The problem with the Forklift at the docks is that it tends to spawn underground. IIRC, a PS2 player once reported that she could only see the roof of the Forklift, and couldn't get it out of the ground, but after returning several times it finally spawned where she could get at it. I had forgotten all about this until yesterday when I was warping around for some tests and accidentally ended up under the island for the docks. I was just looking around for anything interesting, then the "ghost" Forklift came rolling down the slope.

The northern forklift spawns underground (at least on PC), and I've never seen it without warping under the road. The southern Forklift is the one I usually grab for the Tampa collection. And now I'm not so sure which Forklift was reported to spawn with only the roof showing on PS2 systems.

That is why I mentioned the docks but for some reason they don't always spawn, depending it seems, on what you are driving.

Yeah, and those are the two that spawn underground allot which OrionSR just mentioned. The Service Van method is more reliable in my book.

Yes, exactly. I forgot about that one, it's in the open warehouse right next to the NRG-500 Challenge.

In the PC version, it's always there, but it's very hard to get back into LS at the beginning of the game.

 

Also, HolyGrenadeFrenzy, all 3 of the images that I posted are of the same Forklift, not 2 different ones.

I took the images by having C.J. move around the Forklift in different directions.

I fired up my PS2 version to take a look at the Forklifts. The southern spawn highlighted by Zoom spawn reliably with just the roof showing. I never could get it to spawn above ground. The northern Forklift is a no-show. It's probably spawning completely underground like it does on PC.

Tough to get that one if you're only playing Nines and AK's. SFPD aren't gonna be happy to see CJ.

The trouble here is that our OP is looking for something before any of those open outside of LS or the Country of the first island.

 

Now, I hate to complicate things since the method I suggested is easier by just getting a Service Van and cruising around until you can see a forklift whizzing by but there may be a way to aquire that Forklift you are referring to zmoonchild yet it would be tedious and difficult, especially with the whole 4 star issue for going early but........You remember that underwater glitch that is similair to the Frank-Tenpenny method of walking underwater? If you push a vehicle into those spots after CJ has gained the ablity to breath again and he can walk underwater....you can then push any sunken vehicles into the spot if you are careful to position them so they do not roll away into oblivion and get in and drive them underwater with no penatly.

 

There is a location to do this method in another location just under the south side of the bridge just east of SF Airport and I deduce that it would be possible to smuggle the said forklift under the waves and back onto the ground near LS if you didn't fall into the chasm between the Bridge and the Airport and then were very careful.

 

I know all about getting cars and other vehicles to use in exploring the bed of the waters and have been playing with it for over a year.

 

I plan to start a thread in the cheats section about using the Rhino to fish for police from under the waves sometime soon.

Well, whadaya know. I didn't think the underwater glitch worked on PS2, but I only gave it one shot off the Panopticon. The Forklift in the general area of Whetstone would be in Angel Pine - at the far end of the mill. The spawn conflicts with the... DT-something flatbed truck in the same area so they don't generally spawn at the same time. But who cares really. HolyGrenadeFrenzy's suggested method should work faster than any other method described. I don't see the point of trying to get a restricted forklift. The damn things are hard enough to get from the Docks to Ganton without bumping a random car, irritating the driver, and getting pushed around the streets until the thing eventually explodes. Also, it may not matter all that much which car is driven around the docks since the Forklifts are spawning (in or underground) so they'll be in memory anyway. Just keep hitting up the area where the forklifts spawn to keep the memory fresh. Also, if the correct vehicles aren't spawning where you want, head to an area with a completely different vehicle set (East Beach should do) and return so the randomness of the spawns can reset.
