Girish
well I downloaded it for free, that's for sure and it found 766 errors on my computer. In order to fix those errors it requires a registry code which I have to puchace. Then I guess you'll have to buy it. It'll be worth the money coz cleaning your registry from time to time is good for the health of your PC.
adstone1237
Is there a very good chance that if I clean out my registry, the errors appearing when I run or install my game could disappear?

It's worth a try since nothing else seems to have worked. This might be your last option.

Well, almost everything that is known has been suggested. So, unless some computer freak comes up with something totally crazy, this has to be your last option. alexrdh
Maybe your DVD Drive might not have the right decoders installed to it. My only suggestion is download (dunno if it's possible) a proper codec to make it work properly... However this might not work coz I took a shot at saying it
adstone1237
thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try both. 1. 0mfg0rz: Tell me how to restore my factory settings. 2. alexrdh: Where could I possibly download the proper codec for my driver? My driver is an NEC. adstone1237
I thought you said the problem couldn't be the DVD ROM since it played my other disks fine. You're confusing me here! You keep on saying it is and it isn't! Edited January 28, 2008 by adstone1237
Girish
I thought you said the problem couldn't be the DVD ROM since it played my other disks fine. It isn't. I thought it to be a better option than buying a new computer. Edit: From all that you've gone through, a fair assumption could be 'faulty disc'. Can you get a replacement? adstone1237
Ok, fine. I'll try and get one. My birthday's coming up so I should get it soon. EDIT: How could it be faulty if it works just fine at my friend's place? And the unfortunate thing is is that EB Games doesn't make returns if it doesn't work with my system. But I'll just try it anyway. Edited January 28, 2008 by adstone1237

Something in your system seems to be conflicting with the installation process. I'm unable to sit here and deduce what's exactly wrong, so a good option is to reinstall the OS. A fresh system should not give any trouble.
adstone1237
Well I'd love to do that but our system was custom built and the jerk who built it has the OS disk. My mom and I have tried numerous times to contact him but it's always impossible. He has also had our old computer for over a year and has still not returned it. adstone1237
Ok great. I can ask my computer teacher if I can borrow one of his disks. One of our lessons was to install it. EDIT: Oh, and will re-installing XP cause me to lose any of my data? Edited January 28, 2008 by adstone1237
Girish
EDIT: Oh, and will re-installing XP cause me to lose any of my data? Yes. If you have XP installed on C drive, copy your important files to some other drive. Then format C drive and reinstall XP.

Girish
Would that be my hard drive? I'm talking about partitions. Total space on a hard disk can be split into several parts called as drives. They are generally named as C, D, E, etc. So, if you have XP installed on C drive, you can use the other drives to backup data from C drive. But if you don't have any partitions, then I'm afraid the only option is to backup your data on DVD's or a pen drive and copy them back after reinstallation. If you find this too complicated, get some technical assistance.
adstone1237
no, we learned about this in class so I know what you're talking about. EDIT: In class, we used a BIOS floppy to change the partitions so I'll ask my teacher if I can borrow one. Bad~Boy#17
ok,what could be an alternate drive to temporarily store my data on? I only have 1 hard drive. There are many programs, like Norton's Partition Magic for making partitions to store data when re-installing your OS, but I don't think they offer the partition "splitting" in trial versions. And full versions are expensive. you can still use torrents

Girish
You don't need a BIOS floppy. Simply boot from the XP disc. It has in-built options to create partitions. If you don't have any current partitions, then you'll be required to format your entire hard disk.
