adstone1237
At some point during installation there's a window that pops up saying to insert a third disk so it can install a file called audio/SETTINGS/AA, but the game only comes with one. I tried installing it at my buddy's place, and the installation ran fine, no pop up windows. can you tell me whats happening? and what is this file for? It seemed like it was important enough to stop the installation... Edited January 9, 2008 by adstone1237
Girish
It's an audio file. What's your system specs? Have you encountered this problem only with SA or other games too?

gtamodder
I read that if it's asking for Disk 3 it means you have downloaded the game? Did you buy it or download it. And yeah, upgrade video memory. 64MB Or more
adstone1237
no, I bought the game LEGALLY at EB Games or GameStop in the US. And yes, I've considered upgrading my system but I thought it may be a disk reading error, because I manually checked the disk's files and found the path it was trying to install but it won't let me access the STREAMS file. adstone1237
yea I know but I've also heard of people who've experienced the same problem as I have and have traded in their game disk, but the problem still occurs. But I pray to god that this doesn't happen with me and that my video card upgrade (planning to do it Wed. if nothing comes up) will do the trick. What should I do if this problem still occurs and I've traded in my game disk? P.S. Rockstar pitched the idea to copy the files to my hard drive. I copy the game's files, created a new folder, and when I try pasting the files into the new folder says it cannot read the source file or disk. it sounds like it's definitely a disk read error, so I want to see if I have the proper speed of CD-ROM drive. Where would I go to check that?

Where would I go to check that? Isn't the max speed mentioned on your ROM itself? Besides, I don't think the ROM should be a problem if it read other discs properly. SA disc isn't any different from other discs that you might have. If at all there is a problem of reading, your ROM won't be able to read the entire disc and not just hang at a specific file. OF COURSE I KNOW IT DOESN'T COME WITH A THIRD DISK! If you're gonna post a reply in my topic, make it relevant to my problem at hand. And also, READ the full topic before posting. adstone1237
UPDATE: After I install and setup my new video card, I try re-installing my game and my PC restarts halfway through installation! WTF!? How could a new video card make it worse? The new video card is a 128MB Nvidia GeForce 6200 LE. I'm starting to get really P.O.'ed! adstone1237
Well, after my new video card was installed, yes. Oh, and also, I try uninstalling it but this error occurs. And the button for playing the game has appeared, but it says the game isn't fully installed. Edited January 17, 2008 by adstone1237

WordsBG
Go to the NVidia Homepage and download the 6k Series Driver. I would suggest trying another DVD-Drive. You can also ask one of your buddies to rip an image of the game (and transfer it somehow to you - eg. external hard drive) and mount it via deamon tools or whatever. However if it works for your buddies with the same disk I would really suggest a new drive. They shouldn't be to expensive. My dad picked up one for around 20€ a month ago here. adstone1237
I got an idea! I'll use my buddie's DVD ROM drive in my computer and then I can see if it's my driver or possibly my operating system that's not working! But I'll still download the new driver that'll probably help. Edited January 17, 2008 by adstone1237

And wordsBG, I updated the video driver and the PC still restarts during installation! And also, I already spent my paycheck on the video card so I have no money to splurge on a new DVD ROM drive. But the past few days I've been noticing this wierd sound coming from the driver whenever it starts running the disk. It sounds almost as if the disk is hitting something as it's playing. Huh. EDIT: I forgot to mention that my game won't uninstall, play, or even load properly anymore. Edited January 18, 2008 by adstone1237

Girish
EDIT: I forgot to mention that my game won't uninstall, play, or even load properly anymore. Delete all game folders manually and use a simple registry cleaner like CCleaner to get rid of any leftover registry entries. After that is done, try reinstalling. As for running out of ideas, probably yes.
adstone1237
Well I haven't installed the game fully yet so how could I delete them if there's a possibility that they don't even exist yet? Well, I'm running out of options so I'll try it. Just tell me where to download CCleaners, where the possible files would be located and when I have the money I'll get a new DVD player. EDIT: oh, and is there some way I could scan my DVD player to see if anything is wrong with it? Edited January 23, 2008 by adstone1237

But if other DVD's run fine, then the problem doesn't lie with your DVD-ROM.
adstone1237
well I really appreciate your help up untill now girishb, it's asking me to buy it and I don't have a credit card. Click on the link which says 'Download from FileHippo.com'. As for the DVD-ROM, I would suggest trying some other DVD to check if it works before going for a new one. adstone1237
Well I said in a previous post that my friend wouldn't temporarily donate his DVD drive to me so I'm a little stuck there. But I'll try asking my other friends and see if they'll lend me theirs. And as for CCleaners, that's probably what I clicked.
Girish
And as for CCleaners, that's probably what I clicked. The link allows me to download, so I don't see how it would ask you to pay unless you clicked on the wrong link. Try Google for alternate download links. adstone1237
well I downloaded it for free, that's for sure and it found 766 errors on my computer. In order to fix those errors it requires a registry code which I have to puchace.
