- Update news:

  -> Had to remove gta3 newspapers  cryani.gif  - too many graphical 'issues'.

  -> Update screen - completely scripted El-Train - so now it's possible to have 2 trains! So that means metro and subway!

Sweetness, can you jack them?

At the minute, I have the new scripted train unjackable - so the driver is non-killable. The only reason for this is, if you were to kill the driver, the train would simply sit there for the rest of the game, as it is a scripted element. Also, at the minute, the train doesn't stop at any of the stations - but I'm sure some scripting genious could muster up something to get it to stop blush.gif .

 

@Everyone: Just to make things clear, this is a GTA3 conversion, like the GTA:LC project was. This is not an LCS conversion, so don't expect any LCS content for the mod. Some elements from LCS may be included, such as some car spawn locations, but that would be about the height of it. The main player character will always be Claude, and the missions will only be GTA3's missions, with possibly some extras... Also, from this post foward, requests for higher poly models will be ignored - so don't bother. The reason for this is I want to focus on the GTA3 stuff first.

 

@Bumster: of the two bugs you reported - the first one is not a bug - that is meant to happen. The second, we've been aware of that one from day one really - it was a bug in the LC mod as well. I don't know if they mnaged to fix it, or how they did if they fixed it.

 

@bbobik - just wondering how that script is coming? Where would you say you are in terms of completion? 60%? 70%? 80%? If you can't finish it - I can always finish it off for you if you like? As soon as you are done, I can integrate my new scripted train, and release Update 3.

These can not be fixed without some effort, but I'm too lazy to re-write all that stuff now. I know that I have written a long post about the reason, the tiresome solution and the lazy workaround (which is currently used by GTA:LC) in the LC forum, so I'm going to look for it now.

 

EDIT:

The ugly textures you can see on the pics are the LOD models that replace the normal, detailed model when you're far away. But GTA3 used a different system to recognize LODs than VC (and SA, obviously), so the game thinks it's a standard object and displays it all the time. This only happens with SSV road objects, so I suspected it might have something to do with ID restrictions...

 

Solution: Rename all of the LODs used in GTA3 to fit the scheme that the game expects.

 

Workaround: Lower the Z value just as much as is needed to make it disappear beneath the normal model. tounge.gif

could you just add a couple of LCS objects like the bikes?

the bikes from LCS would fit better than the ones from SA smile.gif

its really not that important but it would be cool to have the "right" bikes in liberty city tounge.gif

anyway great work on everything biggrin.gif

When you have access to one releasen, us (the dev) have already plays and pass through it since 2 week minimum, so that's why we don't love because we know all the bug of a release before you could be able to download it...

really lookin forward to this next update - will the freight train be gotten rid of in it?

 

i love this mod, its really feeling like the real deal now, liberty is THE definitive gta city, amazingly well laid out and i love having it come to life for sa inlove.gif

 

@bandit - i tried out your liberty tree mod - its f*cking awesome - the trees are beautiful, and the scrapyard is great fun to demolish!

Yes Bumster - [CTD]LaBan & Fredskin both have valid points. While bug reports are appreciated, the bugs you highlight are well known and it is pointless notifying us of them. The bugs you find are bugs that were in GTA3, or problems with the San Andreas general engine. Things like LODs - this was gta3's problem, so we don't need to know. The freight train on the tracks? Do you really think you're the only one to have found this? Of course not! We all know it pops up from time to time, because we've all played San Andreas.

 

Chances are, any bugs that come with updates, we knew about them well in advance. Currently, I've been bug testing Update 3 for about a week now, so I am 100% aware of every bug that it may bring. What I'm trying to say is this, and this goes to everyone, not just Bumster:

 

"Unless your bug seems really, incredibly out of the ordinary, like the map turning upside down or something, then everybody will be aware of it. If your bug was in GTA3 or GTALC, then chances are we know about it too. So please. Save this thread wasted/spam posts of bugs everybody knows. We do play this game too you know! Updates, similar to that of Gostown, have a testing period of at least a week prior to release in order to minimize any bugs. Any left in were considered too minor to need fixing."

In GTA3 it is mentioned that there was a recent oil spill in Liberty City, which explains the dirty and gluggy water.

I have made a timecyc edit, it removes the water transparency, and changes its underword environment to look less clean than San Andreas waters.

Thanks! I dont know why he looks like that, it must have been how I took the photo tounge.gif.

 

UPDATE:

I have now also started converting the GTA3 car names in the mod.

So when you get in a GTA3 car it says the correct name.

EDIT 2:

Now I have fixed the menu map bug. When you press Z to zoom out on the map it normally shows the state of San Andreas instead of Liberty City. I fixed it up now so that it shows Liberty City accurately.

hax0rofl: It hasen't been ported over yet, I just ported the name over before the actual model has been transfered to SA.

 

I pretty sure it is the Alpha it is replacing though..

 

Claude GTA3: No, but u can edit the alpha setting to the water texture in GTA3 to make water transparent, but beware, all that is underwater is blue hell and it looks like sh*t.

tried to put the alpha black. but it makes the water darker.

Hi Dingleman, good to see you back! What an entrance too. If it's OK with you, could we use just about everything you've shown? biggrin.gif

 

Reduced water transparency - good idea, San Andreas' water doesn't suit Liberty's dirty water.

GXT edits - something I'd been meaning to do, hadn't got around to it. It is a bit weird jumping in a Kuruma, only to be told it's an Admiral... lol.gif

Menu fixes - great idea, the current ones are stretched looking and pixelated, yours look nice and crisp!

 

If you wanna send the stuff to me, I can package it into the next Update, which is any day soon, just waiting for bbobik to get back to me on where he is with the mission script. Do you still use the same MSN?

Only occurs when procobjs added using DEFAULT.col as surface type.

Thanks Fannatic... Yeah, the whole point of those things I made were for them to be in an update, thats why I didn't release them tounge.gif.

 

Claude GTA3: Did you try double clicking the water texture icon on the left in TXD Workshop and tick the "Alpha is used" box. If you have then I dont know why thats making it darker..

 

Also, i'm now working on converting all the GTA3 particle textures to SA, maybe even the EffectsPC.txd.. meh. All in all this must be done AFTER completing homework confused.gif

Good to see another member of the team back, I have made some high res particle textures (Blood and moon, and some vehicle). The GTA3 ones are quite low resolution.

Actually you can find the "LCTT" roads in the Ghotown's texture. Its actually in the game.

Just one little suggestion for the Hud, I think it would fit better if you put the health bar Under the Money instead, it would suit it and seem more streamlined, quick example...
