ceedot
Apparently when you first put the game in it will take 10 to 15 minutes of loading time. Like Assasins creed when u first stick it in, it took quite a while to load in the beginning. So yeah rockstar sed it will first take 10 - 15 minutes to load. ( don't ask for proof coz i cant remember where i red it) Hack NO! Thats unnacceptable.....seriously. And in the demos they said it "felt" like it took about five minutes. That being said I would say anywhere between 5 and 8 minutes....MAYBE. If it takes that long, may as well download it and never put the disc in again. I think it's the opposite. If it felt like five minutes it problably was like 2 mins. But who cares?? We'll find out when we all get GTA IV. We all care. That's who cares. Think about waiting for that long, for the game to start. It would be so hard to be patient lol. I hope it's not too long. I can cook something to eat for that long. yea thats wat i ment the first initial load time, not the one where guna see everytime we switch it on I thought that WAS the initial load time???? CookPassBabtridge
I remember reading an article that stated its about ten mins initial load each time, but this cuts out any loading after that eg. city borders, entering buildings etc. It is a friggin long wait tbh, they better have something interesting on screen during that time Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/306214-loading-times/?do=findComment&comment=1057385502 Share on other sites

CookPassBabtridge
'And some of its achievements simply blow your mind, such as load times. After and initial loading sequence, the game will never load again - even when you transition between interior and exterior locations.' Got this off the factsheet section. It probably is about ten mins, to eliminate all the different transitions we had before. Swings and roundabouts isnt it really, tens mins at the start means a seamless play experience. I could live with loading times for crossing islands, but I think entering buildings in realtime will be awesome. uzi 9mm
10 minutes is out of the question. Even 4 minutes of pure waiting will make anxiety kick in. I think 5 minutes max, any longer than that and R* are pushing it. Layorz
Simple logic applies here. The SA takes roughly 20 seconds to load on PS2. GTA IV is said to be roughly the same size of SA due to being able to enter buildings etc with no load screens. Consider the upgraded engine the game is running off. Forget the graphics, as the PS3 is made to hendle that fine. Your looking at around 30 seconds of load time for gta IV Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/306214-loading-times/?do=findComment&comment=1057385606 Share on other sites

Not really fidgety at all. I mean if you have to wait 10 minutes before playing the game that's a joke. Even VC's starting bit was quite long and that must have only been 2 minutes or less. I am expecting GTA 4's to be longer, but if everytime I want to play GTA 4 I know I have a 10 minute wait before playng, I won't be happy at all, and I'm sure most will too, despite how old they are, I don't know about you, maybe you like waiting. And for your information I am well over the age of 18 son. ToasterStroodle
It's supposed to be quite short. I mean, VC took ages and SA is way bigger, so yeah. I reckon the first time you load it, it should take ages to get us amped up, but after that, go back to a short load time so that when we're playing years later we don't have to wait ages like the first time. CookPassBabtridge
SA took 20 secs?? It was more like two mins. And 30 secs for GTAIV is a pipe dream. I suppose the big pi$$er will be if you wait ten mins for loading, but only have time to play like 5 mins or something. KillerKabel
What about the saving? On PS2 it took ages to save... Didn't it? I think I remember it as ages... Maybe not... CookPassBabtridge
I guess saving will be fast, it is on the 360 hard drive. Im pretty sure the initial load must be every time you switch the machine on to play; as somebody mentioned earlier, if it was one time only, may as well download the frigger. avsrule247
The initial load shouldn't be too long considering the power of the consoles. I'd say 30-40 seconds. Also the saving should be quick. San Andreas saves were like 2 seconds. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/306214-loading-times/?do=findComment&comment=1057385633 Share on other sites
uzi 9mm
There are tons of times where you have to go out somewhere and you only want to have a quick go on it before you leave. The inconvenience of having to wait 10 minutes will not allow you to have that quick go on the game. With SA you can literally be playing the game 4 minutes after switching the PS2 on, which is reasonable. Compared to games like Goldeneye on the N64 which you can get up and running in under a minute, that is obviously very slow, and that was roughly 10 years ago, now we are 2 generations ahead and we have to wait stupid amounts of time to play our games, which is a step back. ModelMan
I remember I rented "Heavenly Sword" Im Like hell yeah cant wait to try this and see the graphics they've been talking about so i put in the blue-ray right and suddenly when the blue-ray loads I see the company names come up as usual for advertisment and stuff, then Its says *loading* so with my patients I can wait its okay and to think it was gonna be a 10-20 second load so n e ways im waiting and Im like why is this load so slow so I figure out that this is one of those "first time turning on loading long time then playing the whole thing without a single load" games like GTA IV.....thank god for next-gen systems so when the game comes up and Start 2 Finish theres not a single load in game or in the cut scenes so I guess works out better but the first time when you get the game where youre all excited to play you have to wait 10-20 minutes instead for it to load but I guess its worth it. So long story short Its gonna be a good experience even if it takes about 30minutes, more than that Im suing R* whos with me!i!i!
