Your taxes at work, people. I bet they can come up with ways to spend even more money trying to make the city look 'good', too.

HDRs look 200% better than my old point and shoot camera could ever produce.

Just found this out and i thought i'll post it here smile.gif.

"A photo is taken every 10 seconds in Britain"

Now that is a lot of photo's in it, it's a good job we have digital cameras now and not still using film roll.

Oh and i love those shots Viper.

Yeah, HDR's can produce awesome pictures. I just haven't found any in my collection yet that turn out good enough. Of course I haven't taken any pictures with HDR in mind yet, so that doesn't help.

Out door scenes with clouds seem to be most effective with HDR, imo.

@Viper, those are some bad ass pictures. Great editing. The pidgeon one seems a bit dirty though.

@maddog, cool picture, nice focus. Hard as sh*t to get when not looking through the viewer!

A close friend of mine who works as a photographer with scanpix was shot at in the hotel lobby, he was not hurt physically.. From what i have heard they started shooting towards him as the elevator doors opened. He managed to duck back into the elevator and close the doors.

I haven't heard anything more. But im glad he is not hurt!

The interior ministry said six people, mainly guards, had died. It was not clear whether the toll included a Norwegian journalist confirmed dead.

A Norwegian journalist has succumbed from the two gunshot wounds he sustained in the Kabul attack earlier tonight! They confirmed it a few hours ago sad.gif

He was a well respected and talented journalist. Ran into him a few times but never talked to him.

Got to wait 'til I'm next at college to print up my 35mm negs, and my digital is in for servicing. So I'm crawling through old stuff and I'd taken a long time ago.

Here's one:

The two of them (photographer and journalist) had been outside, and was in the lobby walking towards the elevators as the attack started. My friend the photographer headed for the elevator, he had his bulletproof vest and helmet in his hotel room. The journalist ran in a different direction.

The attack died off before he reached his room. He returned to the lobby to find and help another photographer drag Carsten (the journalist that died) to safety. They started giving him first aid and managed to stop the most serious bleeding until american and norwegian forces came and rushed the wounded to a field hospital.

The journalist died there a little while later.

Im just glad to know that he was conscious while being taken care of by his colleagues. Being comforted and being sorrounded by his close friends in his last hours..

Can't imagine what the family must be going through, he had a wife and two children..

What's the best (*cough*cheapest*couch*) way to score a nice digital camera (preferably DSLR). My main focus is shooting my weed, so mostly macro (mid to low lighting).

My dad is a Canon freak (1D MKII, IR-Modded 10D, D30), so I figured I'd go with a Rebel of some sorts (XT most likely). If I try hard enough, it seems I can grab one for about $250 on eBay used. Think that's the best route?

Also was considering a Nikon D40..

Well, in order to do macro you have to buy a macro lens, and those aren't very cheap. If you can score an XT for $250, then definitely try and find a good macro lens.

...besides that I ain't sayin nuthin.

My friend is back in norway now, he arrived here earlier tonight with the rest of the delegation as well as the other journalists and photographers.

Here he is on the left, this was taken shortly after the attack had died out.

How about keeping this topic to snapshots, then open a topic if you think your new set of photos worths it.

I planned on making a photo topic of my own when I got around to taking some pictures... this sh*tty weather isn't warranting any good shooting time. confused.gif

And, I'm saving up for a new lens smile.gif

I really like the top portion, when it gets to the people everywhere... I feel like the effects take away from it. But I like the subtle enhancements. icon14.gif

Taste Of Chaos

Here are a select few for my photography course. I must ask everyone NOT to reproduce this onto other websites, I know the odds are very, very slim. But its just a precaution. Cheers!

The current assignment is to create mood and ambience, I feel that I have done well with these.

The quality of theres have been greatly reduced due to the cropping and scanning process, the originals look great. (Not to be too big headed of course. tounge.gif)

Enjoy!
