I think I got myself a decent deal on a A7R II. Picked it up after the seller said it was gently used. I just checked the shutter count on it, and it's only at 3,200 shutter actuations, way below what I was expecting. $1100 for it was an absolute steal, which included the box and all original accessories + 3 batteries, and a Sony grip extender.

I needed the A7RIIs better AF system over my current A7R because I'm going to be using it to take photos of my new Siberian Husky. Here's a few shots at the dog park paired with the FE 70-200mm. I'm still getting used to the camera, but the AF system is miles better than my A7R.

That's a great deal with the extra batteries for the R II, nice one. I've an A7ii (well, a couple - don't ask) and looking to off-load them because as much as I love it I just can't justify the cost of lenses for it. Going to suck it up and stick with the 5D Mk iii. Nice dog, btw.

Most recent pic of mine, not actually very happy with it but still, a nice place. Narvik Church.

Just realised how few and far between these posts are, I could have gotten away with something a little older 😅

As I was shopping for the A7R II, I actually contemplated switching back over to Canon because there was a deal for the Canon 5DS-R for like $1200 brand new.

I think for someone without a current platform, that 5DS-R might be the way to go. I think even on Ebay they are on sale for $1500 new. I'm not up to date on prices, but that seems really cheap for a 50MP full frame camera.

so i guess it's time for me to actually post in this topic.

I got my first DSLR a few months ago, it's a Nikon D3500 with a 18-55mm lens, had to get it for photography class in uni and I'm having a blast using it. can't wait for this whole pandemic thing to be over so I can actually shoot some more stuff.

I have really nothing much to do in my sparetime and would rather make use of it than waste it and achieve nothing so today I decided to play around with the Aperture mode on my Canon 550D DSLR and I'm impressed with the with how the aperture images turned out (they have been edited a little bit to detail them more)

You don't see a Mini Cooper S everyday. It's a rental. Excuse the filter. It was too hot and the picture wasn't clear in direct scortching sunlight. The filter sort of makes up for it.

Very nice, was just going to ask. It has some strange thing that told me it was phone but at the same time, it's incredibly neat. Did you HDR mode on this? Nice photo. Great phone too.

Thanks. I just point and shoot and then choose the best pics when I get home. The phone does everything, focus, clarity, depth.

As you may recall, I have vision issues, I can see shapes in the distance but not detail so this phone does everything for me.

Here's a nice portrait of a lily...again, the phone did all the clever work.

Anyone here have experience with vintage cameras? I was looking into old ones from the 50s-60s, but then figured they might be a pain in the ass to learn on. The good thing though is there are a ton of Kodak Retina/Retinettes on Ebay for dirt cheap. These old Kodak's don't have interchangeable lenses though (I believe).

Alternatively, I've also looked at the Nikon F2 and Canon AE-1.

Are there any other vintage cameras I should be looking for?

Edit: Mainly looking for 35mm film cameras.

Old Minolta MD cameras, Yashicas and Olympus OM series are a good option.

Any specific models I should be on the lookout for?

I just went digging in my garage and actually found an old Canon EOS Rebel II with a 35-80mm lens attached. Battery is dead and it has no film so who knows if it still works.
