I would like some recommendations about getting a new camera, I'm willing to spend around 500-600 euros.

I used to use my ex's camera which, even if it wasn't a high end reflex, it took some decent photos, capturing the color quite nicely. I am currently using a Canon EOS 400D, which makes taking pictures be like rolling the dice, as you never know what will come out from it. Many times the color or lightning are off, the resolution and focus are definitely worse than the other camera and the lack of stabilizer makes half of your photos useless. I even tried taking pictures using a tripod and timer and they came out moved anyway.

After the last and kind of frustrating photo session yesterday, I've decided that I am finally purchasing a new camera. Like I've mentioned, I am willing to spend around 500 to 600 euros. The one I use now is not mine, so fortunately I wouldn't be losing any money.

A few of my pictures.

I'm surprised that the last one was taken with the EOS, I remember that the light was a bit poor at the time I took it so it's surprising it didn't come out moved. It might be one of my favorite pictures.

Recent stuff. Also bought an AE-1 Program a few weeks ago, still got 6 photos left on the first roll. Will post results once I finish it and get it developed!

What's everyones thoughts on mirrorless cameras? I'm loving how the Sony Alphas look and the performance/image quality seems to match Canons full frame offerings right now. I'm looking to switch over from my crop Canon body to either a Canon full frame or a Sony A7R. The only thing that worries me is the lens selection for the Sony.

Well, I decided to go mirrorless with a Sony A7R. Picked up my first lens for it, a Sony FE 90mm f2.8 Macro. Also bought a Sigma MC-11 Canon EF to Sony E mount adapter so I can test out my Sigma 105mm Canon lens on the Sony body.

I shot the above photos using the Sigma 105 Macro (with adapter), then switched lenses and took this with the Sony FE 90mm Macro. The Sigma Canon lens works pretty well with the adapter, but the Sony 90mm is incredible.

Can anybody ID this mini/desk tripod?? I've been searching days and can't ID it. It's Made in Germany, and is about 7" / 18cm tall.

Is there anything uniquely specific about that one that you want?

Manfrotto do a similar one..

If it's a budget one you are after, Neewer do one similar....

Congrats on your new camera purchase. I haven't formulated my opinions on mirrorless cameras yet. I have worked with the Sony A7 (just one video shoot) and the quality of those cameras is top class.

@Cheat I bought an AE-1 Program too. Not the best condition but I love it. I haven't seen any results yet. Went to get some rolls developed and the old guy that runs the shop left a note on the closed shutter "Gone on Holidays, back Aug x" At first I was frustrated but then chuckled at how old school that was.

I specifically like the legs and tall head mount. It's a unique looking piece.

I've already got an actual tripod. Just looking for a mini one for table work.

A heads up for anyone shopping for a body or lens. I think eBay is having a 15% off sale sitewide tomorrow with a max discount of $100. So looks ideal for a body or lens at around $650USD to get you close to the $100.

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd Sony body, and the A6000 or A6300 (second-hand) are right around that range and are pretty nice APS-C cameras. If you're accepting of the fact that it's mirrorless. After switching over to Sony from Canon, I'm liking it.

@NoaleGreat choice with the A7r & the 90mm 2.8. It is an absolute beast of a lens. Great quality photos.

Seemed like a bad time to buy a Sony camera considering Nikon and Canon announced their full frame mirrorless not long after. 😂

Oh well, I'm content for now. Though it'd be nice if Sony lenses were a little cheaper. I really want that 70-200 f2.8 GM lens. But at $2600, it's a little over the top.

Not at all since they can barely hold a candle to Sony mirrorless, nevermind that they were so late to the game already. I was always team Canon but in recent times it's like they've just given up.

Yep GM lenses are ridiculously priced but for optical perfection. I wouldn't mind the 24-70mm f/2.8 GM myself since it has the potential to render a lot of primes obsolete. Shame I'd have to sell a couple of kidneys to afford it.

Edit-

Here's a quick one taken with my LG V30, turned out quite nice. Still shocks me how good the image processing is on phones these days. The RAW version is god awful, but the phone's jpeg processing rivals my fullframe!

Here's a shot from a morning ride I had with my friends. I drove my friend's leased GSX 1300R a.k.a Suzuki Hayabusa. We stopped on the way for refreshments & breakfast. It was indeed a great place to click this. Didn't have my primary phone with me, so excuse the quality.

I drove down from the Bay Area to Los Angeles for the holidays. Decided to see the real life GTAV Observatory, and went for a quick morning hike up at Griffith Observatory in Glendale.

Didn't have any camera on the hike with me, so I just snapped these on my phone. I never actually bothered with the iPhone camera before, but it really surprised me.

Got a Canon Rebel T6 for Christmas. Still no idea what I'm doing to be honest but I'm enjoying this.

Came with both a 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens, but mostly been using the 18-55mm one.

Just some random photos i've taken over the years. Using a Sony A7ii & Sony 70-200mm f/4 & iPhone 7 Plus. If some of the angles are kind of odd I apologize in advance. Most of these have been taken while i'm in my wheelchair & i'm limited on how close I can get to my subjects.
