How will we listen to music in GTA IV

Recommended Posts

Hi there!!

there are several topics bout radios and song suggestions...but none about HOW will we be able to hear music in IV?

certainly in car radios, like we all are used to it, but beside that, there was no other way to do so in previous GTAs

So...maybe we will have our own Ipod with customizable tracks (and maybe streaming radio biggrin.gif ) which we carry around

when walking in LC and shooting some civilians (just kidding better dont do that suicidal.gif )...

And maybe on ur cellphone, or the computers u will be able to consult with the (virtual) internet..i just dont know...please let ur suggestions...

In previous GTAs i drove some xtra kms just to keep listening..Radio Espantoso was so great... inlove.gif

i hope they include much Reggaeton in this GTA!!!

Hopefully, with lots of synthesizer. (Though Trailer 2 has me optimistic.)

Hopefully you can control the volume. Then, at night, you can blare the music with the windows down and get a wanted level for disturbing the peace. moto_whistle.gif

I liked how in Saints Row you could hear the cars radio while walking, well the bass of it. Rockstar said GTA IV will have that too, I just hope the music is sort of race/age oriented. It was awkard seeing a white old lady in a car with gangsta' rap blasted.

I think you might be looking into the whole realism thing a bit too much, Rockstar are only making aspects of the game more realisitic to what we've seen as opposed to what a lot of people might expect.

You'll probably see different peds listening to their music (iPod, MP3, whatever), but I doubt Niko will be able to as well. I think the car radiostations are enough.

"I'm the only rapper known by your grandmother" Snoop Dogg, on Paul Wall's "Everybody Know Me". cool.gif

Yes, the cars are enough for Niko, the only other time I might expect to here music is maybe if you go into a convenience store, shopping centre or into a house and the radio is on. And then of course you would hear music coming from other people driving.

Yeah but there's realism for the sake of realism and then there's realism for the sake of atmosphere and immersion which is what most of the ideas here will do. The sounds of the city have always been a strong point with GTA and any realism there is only a good thing.

... Being able to hear music outside of the car defeats the purpose of a car radio. dozingoff.gif

And plus, that contradicts itself. I want to hear "the sounds of the city." ... Having an iPod would sort of dampen that, donchathink?

The phone Niko has in trailer two, kinda looks like A iphone. So maybe he can take pictures with it, get on the internet, and listen to music. Just put it in his pocket, stick the ear-phones in his ear, and wha-la, another element of the game comes to life.

I am talking about when you get out of the vehicle leaving the door open, just like in reality you hear the radio from outside the car as well as the thumping of passing cars with their radios turned up or in the case of the player whatever music is being played in the car ie.mp3 player. How does that defeat the purpose?

Hearing thumping music from cars driving past is part of the "sounds of the city" as is any localized noises be it the buzz of passing peds headphones, the static of a police radio or anything. These are things that make you feel more apart of the game world, Rockstar have always aimed for that.

off topic:Holy sh*t man 25,000 posts!!! How did you manage that?

on topic:Yeah I wanted here 'the sounds of the city' not a MP3 if you have that how can you listen to all the funny things peds have to say or stuff like that? I also don't think Niko is the kind of person to listen to an MP3 player, maybe Cj but he was layed back. Niko seems like the serious Russian guy you see in the street who you don't f*cking mess with. Not some guy walking down the street listening to music hyming a tune. Anyway We'll have to wait and see but I doubt Rockstar would bother with a boring feature like this.

I wasn't really thinking of an mp3 player as in one Niko will carry on his person and can be heard by the player when on foot, it was only in the sense of in the car like previous GTA's.

As for the 25,000 posts, guess that's what happens when you post on a forum for 6+ years!

Now why would a 40 (?) year old, walk around in the streets with an IPod? confused.gif

I don't want to see Niko hearing music, except for in the car...

I'll have my own IPod going if I need music...

they'll most likely put a sound option for other peoples music so you all can just turn it off if you don't want to hear it.

Niko isn't even forty, he's in his 30's, also, age has nothing to do with the use of an ipod.

Well, I've never seen any 30+ dude, in the city, with an IPod... confused.gif

Are you serious? New york, London, Honk kong, etc are full with 30+ year old men walking with i pods. Now I'm not suddenly saying Niko will use one and i dont particularly want him too, but i just had to correct you there.

You know what would really be cool? Say a gang comes in with their "own" certain car, with tinted windows and such, and you can hear there style of music while they're approaching, with a lot of bass.

Rockstar confirmed it, I think.

Good, because I really want this.

Really?

Not in Denmark they don't...

Yet another reason, to kill myself...

My country sucks... bored.gif

Mehh... Thought only Teenagers and some few 20+ ones used the IPod...
