Just a thought...

Recommended Posts

This is just a thought and is nothing more than speculation. Don't make it more than what it is...

I'm sure a lot of you guys visit IGN and if you've been paying attention, you'll have noticed that not too long after the most recent GTA IV trailer came out, Direct2Drive has been plastering their ads all over IGN for buying/downloading the past 3 GTA games. Now, I'm speculating that this has to mean 1 of 3 things:

1. They're taking advantage of the hype created from the recent trailer to have people buy/download the past GTA games to boost sales

2. The release date, major news, and/or other big things of that nature are imminent for GTA IV and that is why they're advertising the past games. In another words, they're making sure GTA is on everyone's minds.

3. Combination of 1 and 2.

Ads are used to create awareness; in this case, what is that awareness for? We'll just have to see...

Though, did this need it's own thread?  What does it really have to do with IV?

Um, everything? He's talking about Rockstar hyping up GTA IV, which could signal more news to come.

I think it's worthy of it's own thread, and thanks for the info.

Well, I think it's more about cashing in on hype, rather then building it.

I fail to see how this signals news to come.

It's obvious that info is coming, and I doubt these downloads are going to have anything to do with it.

It's just a cash grab.

Its probably becuase they are planning another delay and therefore are giving gamers something to keep them busy while they wait for the release.
