zainkool
Unreal Tournament 3 just came out a few weeks ago for the PS3. It it allows you to mod the game and there are mods available for the PS3 on the internet for UT3. Since PS3 is an open console would we see more modding in GTA IV especially on PS3 when not knowing how long it might take for GTA IV to come on PC. We don't have to now go through the hassle of modding GTA on the PS2 with the risk of fu*king up the game and ps2 and no need to install a mod chip. Now on the PS3 you can simply implement a mod by downloading it off the internet by the PS3 web browser or from a PC and then transfer it to a flash drive or memory stick and install it on the PS3. What are you ideas on this. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/305178-modding-on-ps3-and-gta-iv/ Share on other sites
ceedot
As fun as it would be, I just wouldn't want to ruin my console, or game. I'm not sure if Rockstar would allow this either, seeing as they got a big fat law suit on their ass about hot coffee. rockaustin
But it won't ruin the console or game. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/305178-modding-on-ps3-and-gta-iv/#findComment-1057363522 Share on other sites
Ronnyboy
I would do it, only after someone has tried (probably that bastard that has PS3's ) and proved it worked well with out f*cking up the system. It would be a good idea though Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/305178-modding-on-ps3-and-gta-iv/#findComment-1057363525 Share on other sites
YourNeighborhoodKiller
But it won't ruin the console or game. It might make the console run slow, which I don't prefer. GTA3Freak-2001
The thing is Unreal 3 is made to be modded as well as supported by developers, Rockstar have never really publicly embraced modding its mostly been up to the community to create tools and essentially work out how to mod the game. I don't see Rockstar embracing modding they may even try to prevent it as they have done with San Andreas so I doubt there will be any official modding for GTA IV on PS3. If any modding is done its going to be equally as possible on the 360 as well in fact isn't it harder to go about cracking and messing with PS3 games and the console? I dont know for USA, but in Russia people who has PS2 has a modchip. The most of them. i think without modchip it's stupid Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/305178-modding-on-ps3-and-gta-iv/#findComment-1057363842 Share on other sites
doomdiver_16
If R* actualy do decide to add support for mods Sony will probably be first to allow it as was the case with UT3. As far as I know MS are not allowing mods onto any of the 360 games at the moment including UT3 which I believe is one of the reasons the 360 version is coming later. However with a game as big as IV more people would go for the PS3 version if it had mods as some people consider mods to be infinate DLC. If MS wanted to attract more people to the console they would allow mods. But the other side of this if they did allow the mods people would see this as a free was of extending thier gameplay time and not paying so money would be taken away from the official DLC. If R* did allow mods with sony it may damage MS as much if they did allow it as if they didn't whilst not hurting Sony at all. I don't think there will be mods, at least in this GTA, as much as I wish there would be. This is just me speculating on how companies would react if mods were allowed. CharmingCharlie
I can tell you now there will be NO modding for the PS3 or 360, even after the PC version comes out. What you guys seem to forget is even with UT3 YOU CANNOT DO MODS ON THE PS3. All UT3 offers is the ability to play user created PC mods that have been converted to run on the PS3. Now since Rockstar are never going to bring out a "mod conversion" tool you will never see any PC mods converted to the PS3 and to be honest I can't see PC users being bothered to bring their mods to a console. gtamodder
I wouldn't mod PS3, I have always been afraid not to do it. I end up damaging it. I would only mod the PC Version (which i will buy and mod if it comes out) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/305178-modding-on-ps3-and-gta-iv/#findComment-1057364779 Share on other sites

Slamman
I just read a magazine talking about games one can build up, one I had heard before in fact, but can't recall at the moment. Folks my age or similar will remember Electronics Arts offered Music Construction Set, and due to success of that software, added Pinball Construction Set and Adventure Construction Set! I had all three at one point (now two!) The option of using pre offered elements and building things up culminated in one of the best 1980s examples.... Lode Runner from Broderbund Software. To this day it offers the best build your own challenge in a matter of mere minutes! I loved it. I think Rockstar has never endorsed modding on PC but I would be surprised if it came to pass on PS3... BTW, I am no bastard for choosing the PS3!
