Typhus
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7161590.stm Bad news indeed. If I recall correctly she was a more liberal political figure. And one who stood against more hardline elements in the country. Not good at all.
dxk
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH................I just logged in to make a topic on this..............damn......... OT::...........Its sad really, I thought for sure she would die, but thought that she would survive a little longer, may be if she had won in PAK, may be the place would have gotten better

Chickstick
Well, I hate to say it, but it was more a case of when this was going to happen, rather than if. A lot of extremists in Pakistan hated her. Still, it's a shame.

Still, it's a shame. A crying shame at that........I knew she was going to end up dead, in other news:: many protesters and supporters of "The Departed" started to shout out chantings saying "Dog Musharef Dog"----meaning to the president of the country
liesofsilence
I am shocked people still do this to other people, more specifically, politicians that have wrong moral ideas. It's been proven over and over, conservatism, and more importantly, religious conservatism leads to bad things. to the people who planned and did this, f*ck you. Girish
This sort of things have become a daily routine in Pakistan and it's going to continue till Musharraf is President. Damn, I hate that guy!

dxk
But how can he be President? Doesn't most of the country hate him? Yes, but if you read the newspapers, we wouldn't call it "Presidency"....Its more of a cunning kind of dictatorship The fact is that, he is the Army General,......President........and if he chooses, an Indirect Head Judge of the Pakistani supreme court........not to mention a pro mass murder........I wonder why the U.S.A. is helping Pakisthan(openly apart from the secret weapon selling)
Eddie280
Wow. That is a shame. And that is seriously bad news for the Region. I think there will most likely be a civil war in Pakistan in the near future which would be terrible for obvious reasons and because Pakistan is a Nuclear power meaning those weapons could become vunerable to terrorist organisations within the country and across the border in Afghanistan. VCHolmes
Yeah, a shame really. She would have been a threat to the current government, considering the support she's been getting, and with the elections nearing.

V. Luxuria
This is bad news for Pakistan, make no mistake. The 2008 elections will be cancelled, which strengthens Musharraf's grip on things. However, despite her angelic portrayal in the Western media, I think Bhutto was irresponsible in the way she returned. There were over 100 killed in the earlier assassination attempt on her this year, and it seems that least 15-20 have been killed in this attack. With the nature of the extremist elements in Pakistan who were likely to oppose her, was she not putting others in danger by organising these large rallies? It could be said she was brave in returning from exile, but she was surrounded by heavy security at all times. She also, was not, some sort of shining beacon of democracy going back to "sort out" Pakistan. Charges of corruption against her and Zardari are numerous. She also propped up the brutal, misogynistic Taliban rule of Afghanistan to help further trade opportunities, giving them financial and military support. Recently, just at the point where Western support for her was strongest, and could be most advantageous, she started to condemn the Taliban. Seems pretty dishonest and self-serving to me. Of course, next to Musharraf, Bhutto was an angel. Her death, if not unexpected, is a bad thing, and probably means further bloodshed is to come in Pakistan. Just trying to add a bit of perspective, I suppose.
Picolini
No clue who this lady is really. But while reading through that article I found this: Some supporters at the hospital wept while others broke into anger, throwing stones at cars and breaking windows. What the hell is that all about? Why would her supporters go and start throwing stones at cars? What will vandalizing innocent peoples property do to make her less dead? f*cking morons. You shouldn't be posting this else your dad gets in trouble. On topic: I somehow can't get rid of the thinking that Musharraf has got a hand in this. After all, he had all to gain and nothing to lose if Bhutto got out of his way.

stingray.
From what I've heard, the people all hated her and called her a "bitch" but now that she's dead, all of a sudden everyone's calling her a hero. WTH? They showed a footage of it on CNN, and I swear I saw a couple of people trying to squeeze out a couple of tears (you could tell they were acting) 'coz they knew that the camera is pointing towards them and by "crying", they can show people how sorry they felt for her at her. Iminicus
Am I sad that she is dead? Honestly, no. I know what she did and didn't do for Pakistan. She was corrupt and as said wasn't a beacon of democracy. She was a self serving politician. The only difference between her and Musharraf is she is a woman, which nowadays means more to more people than actual ability to govern. Did she deserve death? Yes, she ignored numerous threats against her life and safety, yet, she defied them to 'promote' her cause. She also, put the lives of countless others in danger. In the political landscape, this will strengthen Musharraf's position on taking complete control of Pakistan, not that it wouldn't have happened anyway. All that has been accomplished is his biggest supporter for Presidency is out of the way. Is that a bad thing for him? Yes and no. With her gone, he can't negotiate taking the power. However, now he doesn't need to be seen trying to 'make amends' with her to satisfy Westerners. I think I shall follow Pakistan closer now. I suggest people supporting her should also do the same. I woke up and turned on the TV and this was the first thing that was on . Pakistan is f*cked up. Was she an Islamic extremist or anti extremist? I don't even think such video exists. The news is telling me that the latest photo of her existence was taken just a couple seconds before the killing.
