PC Vs Xbox 360 Vs PS3

the age-old question.

 

please no one bring up the Wii, this is between PC, 360 and PS3.

 

So I figure I can afford to spend about AUD$1000 ~ $1500 on a new gaming machine..

 

I am currently a PC gamer and have been for the past 2-3 years after my PS2 broke I moved to PC. I like the look of games such as BF3 etc.

 

The thing I most like about PC is that games are often cheaper and you can get good deals but console games have always burnt a hole in my pocket.. I mean you pay like $100-$120 for 360, PS3 games these days?

 

I buy games such as BF2 for the online play which needs a CD Key but for single player games, the beauty of the PC shines as I can just download these whereas if I had a console I would be forking out a bloody fortune for one game.

 

that being said I do like the look of games coming out for the PS3 such as GT5.

 

Have PS3 online capabilities been reached yet?

 

One more downfall for the PS3 is that here in South Australia they took away the 60gb model and replaced it with a 40gb , with only 2 USB ports, no card reader and no backwards compatibilities.

So what should I get?? so confused..

If your going for gaming suggest you steer clear of the PC, there's quite a few big games coming out on the 360/PS3 in 08, GTA IV, Midnight Club LA and Mercenaries 2 just to name a few.

I have the same problem, except I dont know if i should choose between Xbox or Playstation. The biggest thing holding me back from getting a Xbox, is the games. It seems like there's only FPS for the Xbox.

Its a tough one, PC will win in terms of pure power if you buy it right. Great games out/coming out on it and the online is simple. 360 has loads of great games out now and LIVE is great, but you have to pay but its not that much. And as much as i hate to say it i cant really think of anything good about the PS3 atm, there are good games coming on it, but not for a while - MGS4, FFXIII and LittleBigPlanet are just a few, but they're not out for a long time. So it might be best to steer clear of that for a while.

You want to play Gran Turismo. You can't do that on a PC or a 360. PS3 online is great for being able to play with other people. People say Live is great but when you ask them, they name everything EXCEPT the fact that you can play other people.

 

People who have Xbox say PS3 has no games. It's not true.

You could get a cheap Alienware for that price, but if it were me, and I had that money I'd get a 360 Elite with a years Gold membership to Xbox Live. Mainly because I'm dying to get to play Mercs 2 when it comes out.

 

But PC also has some incredible games coming out soon, namely Far Cry 2 which looks phenomenal.

You'll need to upgrade your PC every two years, while consoles stay fresh for at least 5-7 years... In fact, the PS3 lifespan is expected to be 10 years. And remember, many blockbuster games don't come to PC. The 360 is fine, but it will get old very soon. PS3 has a bright future (thanks to Blu-ray, Cell, and its many tech. features) and will definitely OWN 2008. Look at these exclusives:

why do ps3 fanboys always bring this up? its a picture taking game that had a trailer nearly two years ago?

 

SAN: as you can see, the fanboys have shown up and it won't be long until the retaliation begins. so i will break it down to this: go where the games you want are. all 3 systems have games in the same genres, check ratings, check reviews, check whats coming out, see what suits your tastes.

 

Also, piracy is seriously hurting PC gaming. you don't see near as many single player games on the PC simply because people download the single player PC games. Keep that in mind.
