visionist
Couldn't find this in the pinned topics section so here it is: We pretty much know what Algonquin, Broker, Dukes and Bohan are gonna look like. But what about Alderney? Will it be all suburbs and houses? If so, that could suck as it is supposed to be the biggest borough... Anybody living in NY/NJ wanna help me out here? CrocodileDundee
Well I'm thinking that the Airport will be in Alderney and possibly some industries. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/304973-alderney/#findComment-1057358937 Share on other sites

visionist
An airport is confirmed. We won't be able to jack the planes though. Watching the Sopranos, I get the impression that New Jersey is very flat as regards archtiecture, with few buildings being more than two storeys tall. I hope Alderney is diverse as it will be very large. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/304973-alderney/#findComment-1057358950 Share on other sites
They_All_Float
So there will be an airport, but we can't fly planes... Does that mean there will atleast be models of planes? It would seem pretty stupid to have an airport in a game without any planes. CarpetDweller
We only really know what we've seen in screenshots, which as far as I know are mostly in small parts of Broker and Algonquin. They seem to be pretty close to their real-life locations so we can probably assume the same for Alderney. I'd like to add an additional question: I seem to remember them saying that Alderney represented a "[small?] part of New Jersey." As far as I can gather a lot of the humour about Jersey comes from its closeness and direct comparison with New York. Like an inferior little brother. Obviously New Jersey is a separate state from New York. Does anyone think that Alderney will be known in game as part of a separate state [using blocked tunnels or another device to prevent us going further] or treated as if it is just another self-contained borough of Liberty? In other words - do you think it will be like San Andreas where parts of California and Nevada made up one single state or will it follow reality closer this time? ceedot
I think it will just be one state, and therefore 1 city. It may be a seperated island though, but I don't think Rockstar are showing many 'outside pictures' into the other parts, just for 'suprize' reasons. I remember reading outlines of places somewhere.... has anyone else read this? Maybe supply a link. NoSkillz187
I know they said it will be some of New Jersey, not the whole New Jersey. But yea, they have only showed small parts of Broker and Alonquin. They really are just gonna surprise us this time. They aint showin sh*t! But i suppose we will get atleast 1 last preview followed by the reviews, and then the game. Sighh...Im gonna jump off of a bridge if this game comes out in April. I can accept Early March. Lol, sorry kinda got off topic there. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/304973-alderney/#findComment-1057359240 Share on other sites

ryan207
I live 20 miles from New York City. It will probably be a combonation of sky scrapers, Jersey City and mabe Newark. And suburbs. Probably no industry though because NJ dosen't have much, unless it goes as far west as Paterson. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
As a New Jersian, I'd say if Rstar was smart they'd do the capital, which is Trenton because that most resembles a big city. Lots of tall buildings, very metro. And then they could counter that by including Newark which is a real crime-infested sh*thole. Finally, include a nice looking suburb like my own, Rahway, or Clark which is basically a whites-only community, no kidding... Trenton, Newark, Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway, Clark.....some places other than the shore that should be considered. Atlantic City I would expect will be included, if not, hmm. jomiyo
If they made a part of it be like Atlantic City that'd be amazing. Maybe the southwestern tip, along the water, could hold it. Wouldn't be too new comparing it with Las Venturas, I guess. But really, they could make it better than Las Venturas, considering it'd be one big flashy nex-gen strip near the water. And maybe some of the Mob could run things there (I know, unoriginal...but still). I would expect regular suburbs and rich neighborhoods (to house a few Soprano-esque mobsters) for the rest of Alderney, besides a relatively small downtown. The size of it all, probably similarly proportioned with Algonquin, maybe a bit bigger. ? Edited December 27, 2007 by Supreme. And the pics doesn't at all look like to be in Alderney since it is surrounded by skyscrapers. And I thought it was well known that Chinatown is in real life in Manhattan not jersey. You are correct sir. The Chinatown we've seen is around southern Algonquin, just like in Manhattan. It's between the Financial District and Midtown (if I'm not mistaken) where there are alot of skyscrapers, I'm sure. Don't know about "Chinatown" in Jersey. There probably is one, but I think it'd be useless to have two. Edited December 27, 2007 by Supreme. Vanilla Shake
The skyscrapers shown in the first trailer behind the Liberty Ferry Terminal are based off of skyscrapers in Jersey City, right across the water from Manhattan. So, I think it's safe to say that Alderney will have at least a few skyscrapers. Plus, Manhattan has Chinatown, not Jersey. Chinatown in real life is situated in Lower Manhattan, and judging by one of the screenshots I think it's located in Lower Algonquin in the game. MysteryGamer
I didn't know we knew what Dukes/Bohan looked like. Show me a picture of Bohan and Dukes. I think this area is defiantly in Dukes (Queens) because the globe statue is based on the "Worlds Fair" which is located in Queens, New York. Le_Joker
If we're going by the stereotype of New Jersey, I'd say there will at least be some industrial areas.
