Vince_ThePhoenix
Zoo officials are now saying that a Siberian tiger that escaped her enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo in San Francisco, California on December 25, killing one and severely injuring two humans in the Terrace cafe. "The animal appears to have climbed or otherwise leaped out of the enclosure. There was no way out through the door," said Robert Jenkins, the zoo's director of animal care and conservation. The tiger has been identified as Tatiana, one of two Siberian tigers at the zoo. The other Siberian, Tony, was not involved in the attacks. Police shot and killed Tatiana, are considering the incident a "crime scene" until they can determine if foul play may have been involved.
TOGA62
people still don't know about this? It's only been up on every news site for the last 2 days now. From what I read, I think the guys were probably taunting the tiger, in which case the tiger made sweet justice out of their stupid actions. Sucks one of them died, but you don't f*ck with tigers. Another reason for me not to go to the Zoo. edit: Theres seems to be speculation that the victim dangled his leg over the fence. Edited December 27, 2007 by Zak. ...besides that I ain't sayin nuthin. It sucks they had to kill it, but if it caused life's to be lost, then I guess they had no choice. It's a tiger. It's supposed to kill things. It's not like putting down a rabid dog, since everyone knew that if the tiger got out it would instinctively kill things. There's no excuse why they didn't just tranq it, when it's their fault that it got out of their captivity in the first place.
Girish
This reminds of a recent incident in a zoo in New Delhi that they showed on television. A man came too close to the fence that was enclosing a tiger and the hungry tiger made a meal out of his hand. The man died due to excessive bleeding. The news captured the tiger with the severed hand in his mouth. They also showed the tiger eating the hand. Link.

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus
I lured her out with a honeydew and some teenagers who had it coming. I did nothing illegal, though. Take that, SFPD!
Blind Joe Death
I saw this on the news this morning, that's some crazy sh*t. Apparently it was enclosed by walls that were 20 feet high so I'm not to sure if it did get out by leaping over the wall. Unless it climbed a tree and then jumped over or something. I also heard that last year December this same Tiger attacked a worker from the Zoo who was doing a show in front of a live audience and he got severely injured. I guess he doesn't like humans too much. Or he absolutely loves them (taste wise), hence why he always tries to gobble them up. Picolini
Couldn't they just restrain her in some way? Besides killing it? If an animal has already killed one person, they're not going to take any risks just to save it's lives over the humans in the area. And even if they some how got it alive, they'd most likely kill it. Since it killed a person it's considered unsafe, so chances are it'll be dead anyways. Sad, tigers are bad ass animals. As for this happening, had no clue. It'd be scary as sh*t to know it was out in my town, I'd be watching my back every second!
Iminicus
Why does everyone after me, except for a few, have to reiterate what I already said? Anyway, I want a lion. A pet lion. How cool would that be? Yeah, it would f*cking rock. I wonder are they illegal to keep as pets? What if they are de clawed? Mmm, I want one. TheDude5000
What is this crying bullsh*t about? Stupid wild animal kills someone, it gets it's brains blown out by the cops. GoogleNews seems to have constant updates on this. Even talked briefly about how the zoos tranq. gun team didnt have enough time to react before Cops got to the scene and killed the Tiger. DexX
The tiger lost any rights to live it had, when it killed somebody. And i use the term "rights" loosely here. Humans have rights - not animals, and least of all caged animals. It is too bad it got killed by the cops though, it would have been a terrific gourmet delicacy.
