Boombastic
After my recent topic about buying a new console with now £360, I decided to go for a 360. But which type? Like Core, premium, Elite etc... I'm going shopping in the January sales so I might be able to buy a TV aswell.
The Night Fox
I would say Elite, It's the best looking.
TheScorpion
I'd go for a premium if I were you. It gives you money left over for games, you could however go out and find a good 360 bundle with some good games though
Deuce Deuce
I would say Elite, It's the best looking. You'd honestly buy something just for its looks? Are you crazy? I'd say definitely don't get the Core/Arcade, you have enough money to get something really decent. If you want loads of memory and maybe one or two games, then go for the Elite. If you want less space but still a decent amount (20gB) with many games and possibly Xbox Live, go for the Premium. As far as I know, the Elite isn't much over the premium at all; more hard drive space and it's in black. Black is ugly anyway. My advice would be to go for the premium. That way you have the whole bundle and still left over for games and extra accessories, as well as Xbox Live. You might even be able to fit in a cheapish TV seeing as it's the sales season. err0rz0n
Yeah and I'm selling my sh*tty 14" to my mum for a quick £50. Give it to her as a present! God, it's your mum. Anyways, both the Premium and the Elite are good, it's down to your choice when it comes to the HDD... If you download stuff frequently, get the elite (120GB)... Otherwise, the Premium is your choice (of course the one with HDMI port.)
Mafia Righthand_Man
Definitely don't get the core. I don't think they even sell them anymore. Premium is your best bet. Although the elite is pretty good if you want more hard drive space.
TDP992
The premium is a pretty good deal, since if you buy the core like I did you'll eventually just end up buying all of the accessories the premium comes with later on. And it depends on how much memory you will think you'll need, like if you're going to store a lot of movies and full games and stuff like that then you might want to consider the elite. Daz
Premium all the way boyyeee. Elite is only if you want to download LOADS of Demos, movies and downloaded games. Premium should come with all you need, apart from a 2nd controller and a charge and play kit.

So really it matter of looks and having the 120HDD included, not another port anymore. Tetsuo2501
i went from premium to Elite, as it goes, the Elite is pretty much the upgrade to the premium, I would like to add since I've gotten my Elite, I haven't had to use any addon cooling equipment, without any problems. The core is discontinued meaning Microsoft aren't selling them anymore; the newest version is the Arcade which includes memory, wireless controller and an HDMI port as well as the arcade games (obviously). Seddo
Yeah, the only difference now is the HDD. No one really cares about the console color except for girls. Actually i care about the colour, i have a black TV, stand and DVD player and then a white 360 sticking out like a sore thumb. If they did do a black Premium console i'd gladly trade in my white one for the black one, then everything will blend in nicely together. I'm not to fussed on the extra storage space as i delete videos as soon as i've seen them and i delete demo's as soon as i've played them or get bored of them, the price of the Elite puts me off aswell. XN22
Get the premium. Don't bother with Elite, and Core is obviously a rip.
Xo4
Yeah Cores suck(they're called "Arcades" now) I'd go with Premium I have one and it seems to work just fine.
Boombastic
So it looks like I'm going for a Premium then. Can anyone find me some good [English] deals? Thanks.
Remix
Well, if anyone is slightly concerned about the colour of your xbox, you can always buy a new cover for it... there's heaps to choose from, with heaps of different designs. But then again, who cares?
jaymig53
What's do bad about the arcade? If you're only going to use it for games, isn't the arcade good enough?
Deuce Deuce
What's do bad about the arcade? If you're only going to use it for games, isn't the arcade good enough? Exactly. I got the Arcade and love it. It just doesn't come with a hard drive and component cables like the Premium does, plus the Arcade also supports HDMI and the VGA cable as opposed to some of other older Premium versions. Boombastic
I'm having second thoughts about the Premium, and now I think I might get the Arcade. Can anyone tell me about Xbox Live?
jaymig53
I'm probably going to get the Arcade, since i'm only gonna use it for games, and I dont even have a HDTV. Plus where I live, you can sell your ps2 + 5 games and get a xbox arcade for about 120$ I think (I'm not sure how much the dollar is worth). Edit: Is the red ring of death still a problem? I think i heard something about it being fixed. Edited December 27, 2007 by jaymig53
Deuce Deuce
Edit: Is the red ring of death still a problem? I think i heard something about it being fixed. Not completely "fixed" per se, but definitely lessened the chance of the red ring of death happening to you (I've had no problems with it so far). I'd go ahead and get the Arcade then, you can always buy a seperate hard drive if need be anyway.
Boombastic
Okay this is my plan. Get a TV here. Xbox 360 Arcade here. So what do you think?
Knife
I think you'll regret arcade version. IMO, arcade/core should have never existed. I think Live sometimes requires a HDD, and the memory sticks are easily filled if you have a few games. My oblivion saves are about 512mb (I have tons of them though). I would strongly advise getting a premium or don't bother until you can.
Boombastic
I think you'll regret arcade version. Why? I'm using it purely for the games, and I might not even bother with live.

So if I'm ONLY going to use it for games, it'll be the same as a Premium. Edited December 27, 2007 by jaymig53

Well, maybe you'll do fine with it then. Personally though, I think the arcade one is 'lacking'. But as you say, may be fine for what you need. Above - The elite's only 2 differences are as follows: 100gb more hard disk It's black You'll need something special to use up 120gb on a console which games stay on the disk.
