Primer43
Well, I'm not gonna give you a textbook definition, if you want that, use Google. Basically, your computer runs needs a variety of basic parts: Power Supply Motherboard CPU Memory For the sake of simplicity, the motherboard connects all the parts together and has a Basic Input/Output System which handles the hardware. The CPU is the brain of the computer, which processes information. Memory is necessary as instructions are executed through the memory. The more memory you have, typically the more programs can run simultaneously. Assuming your motherboard doesn't have an integrated video card, you will need a dedicated one. The video card has its own processing unit and its basic function is to output video... Some other parts are optical drives and hard drives. The hard drive is a permanent storage solution, in which your operating system and personal files. I would check out HowStuffWorks if I were you. Try cleaning out your fans, there might be excessive dirt in there.
Dime84
It won't hurt anything if I take it outside and blow it with the compressor will it? Also, thanks.
Primer43
I use compressed air. Just blowing out the fans shouldn't hurt anything.
Saggy
Is it constantly loud or does it vary? If it varies your computer probably has a function to speed and slow the fan depending on temperature and load. Usually you can figure out how to disable that if it's bugging you, but I'm pretty sure that would cause the fan to run at full speed, which would probably be louder than you want. I've never really known dirt in a fan to make it louder, so that's why I brought that up. Dime84
I popped it open and blew all the dust out and its been quiet for about an hour and going. A couple more questions. Are there any cheap(er) speakers/woofers I could get for this? Are Portable Hard drives worth it?Could I plug it in and have it always working, like If I had songs for my itunes on it would they always be loaded on Itunes? Primer43
I think portable hard drives are worth it, most of them are cheap nowadays. I don't use iTunes, but I think the music will stay as long as the drive is connected. You can get cheap speakers at most electronic stores, or get them on Newegg. Picolini
I've got an external HD that connects through a USB, and it's only about 6x5x2 inches, so it's quite portable although it's not marketed as one. Besides that, it's basically the same as a portable one (the way it connects at least). I've got all my music on it and it loads in iTunes just fine. Of course it won't load if it's not connected. My guess is the play list would still load, but it'd just say not found. Not sure if it'd work after you plug it back in. To stay on the safe side I'd just not run itunes when the HD wasn't connected. As for cheap speakers, cheap is a relative word. I've got Philips 2.1 speakers, 2 regular speakers and a subwoofer. It's like 32 watts, and it gets the job done for me. They were about $40 from Wal-Mart. Nice sound, nice bass. Only problems I've ran into are the volume knob is sensitive at lower volumes, it's hard to adjust it at the lower end. And the other problem is the connection for the left speaker is a bit weird, it cuts out when bumped every so often. But the sound and everything else is great so far.
