Ricardo.
Once a movie is completed, do you think/know: -Actors, Actress and rest of crew get together and watch it before it comes out in theatres? -Do they even watch it BEFORE it comes out in theatres, or they have to watch it at the theatres? -ALWAYS own a copy of the movies they are in? These are just some of my curious questions that's been bothering me for a while...

papanesta
I can't remember who it was, but a famous actor said he never watches his own films. Wish I could remember who it was! Obviously when the film is edited and finished, the producers and director will watch it.
The Night Fox
The 1st and 3rd questions in the starting post could be the true facts, They must all watch it before release, jsut to check it, and see how it went, also, they usually start the editing process afterwards. Otter
Once his films are released, Woody Allen never watches them again. Most actors will see the final print at the premiere gala. Big stars, obviously, are a different case altogether. Crew, however, are lucky to get a free copy of the DVD. Most have to wait and see the final product like the rest of us. Not too odd, most actors are pretty critical of themselves.

Edit: Are you?

Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
If I recall, I thought Sean Penn didn't watch his own films either.
guilty.by.association
Quite often celebs will do an interview where they say "saw it at the premier for the first time.." If i was a celeb i'd wait for the premier. They probably do have a copy of the movies they're in. I agree with the "don't watch their own film" thing. Singers are the same, they hate listening to their own songs. But i'd assume they have a copy of the movies they're in for a keepsake etc.
darthYENIK
all those things are really not questions that could be answered definitively. Every movie has different circumstances. Some filmmakers like to keep their movies under wraps until the premiere. Some times, especially with comedies and horror, they have test screenings. In which they show a rough cut of the film to a test audience, and see how they react to jokes or scares. And sometimes certain cast or crew members are allowed to sit in on the test screening. I've also heard in some circumstances that a filmmaker will let industry big wigs watch their movie to get their thoughts, and network. At least this is what I've been told. As for the actors watching their movies. That really depends on the actor and even the film. I'm sure actors are like anyone else, and if they see a movie they're in, and it sucks, they'll not want to watch it again. So sometimes it's considered ethically sound to say you don't watch your movies, so you don't get roped into saying that a sh*tty movie is sh*tty. Another reason actors may not watch their movies is because when you watch a movie being made from the inside out, it sometimes ruins the experience of watching a movie. If you've memorized the script, and have done countless takes, you tend to get bored of that movie. Of course I've heard of actors watching their movies to analyze their performance. Kind of like the way sports teams watch old games, to find their weaknesses. All in all, there isn't a definite answer to any of those questions.
