You have to be in the right setting and be mentally prepared for the mushies. I did them in total darkness and silence before and I ended up talking to some old guy with a huge beard. He taught me how to install a car stereo, after I came down I still knew how to install a car stereo (head unit, speakers, wiring, subs) and I installed mine. That was some trippy sh*t.

Yea thats a point... I was in Kingston high street ( Thats in london for thoes who havnt a clue ) Its a big public place... But it has put me of them quite alot... nut I dunno, maybe I will try them again one day...

Strange you should say that since GTA "is" virtual reality. You can buy an 800X600 stereo 3D headset for around £250 ($400ish) and play San Andreas in full 3D on the PC. With a wireless joystick and mouse combination (plus some good weed to maximise the experience) and you are literally in the game.

Well technology as a whole has come a long way and to see something such as VR glasses could be the future. Still i think we are all waiting for others to come up with the idea, i do not understand why you, me and everyone else do not have the get up and go. To make something like this ourselves. Of course it is something that takes a lot of research and understanding upon how computers work. Still if we keep waiting for others to feed us our food then i do not think we will move very far in the next 10 years. Still i say that, i think NOW we have technology that would blow the socks off your feet. I mean the government our working on cutting atoms in half and creating a portal hole. the first hole would vibrate on a certain frequency and when you create another you just have to make them both vibrate on that same frequency and there you go. We are traveling using PORTALS! So if that is possible, then who knows......We already have the technology but the companies that make our games & the government that gives us the likes of internet are only feeding us a bit at a time. To let you know totally what they have already done, then it would just go straight over our heads. so for the next GTA or games to get to a Picture perfect photo realism. Then we will have to wait....wait..............and wait some more!

I’m not a big fan of paranoia induced conspiracy theories regarding technology. I totally agree that some of the things in secret development would put our current levels of tech in the stone-age… but that’s because they are in “development”. It takes a long time before things are ready to be massed produced to make a profit. If Sony or Microsoft could have pushed a generation ahead of their rival, no system of control would have stopped them. In 10 years time will start to see some of the things that are in development right now.

Just because it could be virtual reality doesn't mean its going to take up your whole life. I mean, the gameplay would be much the same as now but most of us do get out. They will get better but not like real like, think in the lines of fmw's, Ninja Gaiden's for example.

10 years in the future? I'd still be playing videogames, albeit even more casually than I do now. 10 years ago I was extremely into videogames and that was around the time the first GTA came out. I believe I first played it in late 1998 or early 1999. I think GTA IV may be the last decent GTA game, with this talk of an EA takeover. The problem is with whoever has the rights to GTA. I think it's Take-Two. Everything would go along good if Rockstar Games and Rockstar North just swallowed their pride and stuck with Take-Two during the takeover. That is, good for Grand Theft Auto. Otherwise, if the GTA talent left Take-Two then GTA would still be around - EA would make sure of that - but in name only. Some other team would make a shoddy excuse for a GTA game and it would sell because it has GTA in the name. The Rockstar guys would go on to develop a new innovative series on their own to replace GTA.

 

As far as what would happen 10 years in the future if the Rockstar guys still held on to the rights is the game would just get more and more ridiculously realistic, maybe using new wii-like controls on the PS4. It's hard to imagine it. Well, with IV they have emphasis on the human aspect of GTA. Maybe they'll focus on other things like gangs or setting or environment or all of the above.

 

2010: GTA IV 2; a new GTA on next gen systems, not that different from GTA IV in terms of gameplay. more like the difference between Vice City and San Andreas.

2012: GTA V; totally new GTA from the ground up, focusing more on gangs, settings, environment or all of the above. Maybe it would be to GTA IV what GTA 2 is to GTA1

2014: GTA V 2; like Vice City was to III, but not necessarily taking place in Vice City

2015: GTA V 3; like San Andreas was to III, but not necessarily in San Andreas

2017: GTA VI; with it being 20 years after the first GTA maybe this calls for a "back to the roots" kind of approach. perhaps the GTA V games got too complicated and this game makes it simple and straight-forward and easier for new people to the series while still pushing GTA in a cool new direction

2018: still enjoying VI on the Playstation 5

GTA will no longer be played on a console. you will teleport to a massive building where you will put on a special suit and helmet. You can then see, feel and smell the realness of GTA whilst interacting with other real people in a safe danger free enviroment.

There's no concrete facts to say the world will end in 2012. I've heard it tons of times (The first in 2002), but I think it'll end up like Y2K, and nothing will happen. 6/6/06 is another example.

What will happen is that more physical hardware will be processing stuff that is currently processed by software. (The makers of the Euphoria engine have developed a micro-chip that performs the real-life physics calculations a lot quicker than software, so this will probably in the PS4/Xbox3)

 

In 10 years we won't have super TV's that can run UHD-TV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_High_Definition_Video)

 

They will be more than likely 30 years away.

 

HD-TV has only just started really, and is not going to stop for a long time, so on TV's, there will be a freeze of 1720x1080 graphics for at least 5 years I'm guessing, and UHD-TV won't be around til 2030 at least.

 

Because of this they can't really improve the graphics a great deal, just make them more detailed so that when they are close up you can tell.

 

 

It all depends on what the next generation of consoles want to make possible.

 

If they follow the Wii and put motion sensing in, then we will be able to shoot at the tv. Mainly though, we will see probably 8-10 core processors (probably more) so that games can have more in-depth stuff happening at the one time. For GTA, this may be that every single pedestrian in the game is living out their life when your playing, no matter even if your on the other side of the map. (Can't think of anything else at the moment)

 

EDIT: Also, cars can be designed with actual engines on the inside, so they actually run like cars and need fuel (or whatever in the future) to run. So you wouldn't just make a model of the outside of a car and give it speed, acceleration, handling stats, you'd create pistons and an engine that make the wheels go around and brakes that stop the wheels from turning.

 

Same goes with guns, instead of having bullet velocity, recoil etc. They would actually design a gun that needs gunpowder and the recoil would be calculated on the fly.

 

Who knows, maybe even humans made with real bones and muscles, including vital organs like hearts, brains, and liver (Euphoria 2?) so that when you go out drinking if you have way too much then you get liver poisoning, if there's an old pedestrian the can have a dodgy hip or have a heart attack.

On a sidenote. I think it'd be pretty cool if in 2012 Rockstar would release a post-apocolyptic game. It could be based on alot of different zombie movies. My idea would be to set it up in a next gen, destroyed San Andreas. Story would go along the lines of Zombotech releasing a virus and it spreads throughout. You play as a computer store assistant manager (Shaun of the Dead, anybody?).

 

After 10 years... I don't even know if GTA will be around. 5 years, probably. There is only so far that they can take it.

10 years really isn’t that long guys. How long has GTA IV been in development, 3 or 4 years? And why are so many people negative about GTA’s future? As long as they keep reinventing themselves and make each version fresh then I for one will keep playing (in between shooting the post-apocalyptic zombies that are trying to eat my brain).

but anyway, There will be more GTA games. You'd be foolish to think otherwise. I don't see any new systems (ps4, etc) coming out till' at least late 2010 or 2011, but I can bet there will be one final GTA game for the 360/PS3 era. Then they will start working on a NEXT- next- gen GTA.

 

And yes, the graphics will only get better. I'm thinking the GTA that comes out 2 games from now (after IV and the follow-up) will be absolutely incredible. thats about...10 years away.

Technology can only get better from now. Perhaps those systems people are making where YOU do the actually running, will be implemented into games. Not too sure about VR, thats a bit too close at the moment.

 

Who knows until we actually get there what GTA will be like. Obviously it'll be more realistic, detailed, diverse, and possibly several living, breathing cities similar to Liberty City (although we haven't seen any in game footage, that will have to wait till April 29) in the one game.
