zmoonchild
…because I have: I would have kept on going, but my game froze and I got an error. Also, I made a screen copy for most of my level increases, like the one shown above. NO CHEATS and No Mods were used.

zmoonchild
Alright, I went back and re-attempted the Vigilante Mission, this time using two different vehicles: either the HPV-1000 (Police Motorcycle) or the Police Rancher (alternating between the two), nothing else. I did not use the Hunter or Rhino. I attempted the mission after 100% Game Progress, so I had infinite ammo. This time I got to Level 206 before my game froze and I got an error: I would have kept on going, if my computer would stop locking up after 4 or 5 hours of constant playing. I saved all the screenshots from every time there was a level increase, just like the one above. I can post those as well, as proof. NO CHEATS and No Mods were used. I respect people more when they kick a$$ on Vigilante with an HPV-100 or a police car. But then i pretty much respect anyone who can get high levels on Vigilante

Spuds725
I respect anyone who can excel in vigilante in SA, especially outside of the hunter-- alot tougher then VC's-- my 2300 in VC in the hunter took me about 9 hours-- 8 hours + an hour I was stuck on a level due to a vehicle spawning inside of a building and it taking me that long to find a weapon to get them (minigun barrel is far enough infront of tommy it shot through the wall)-- I did pause the game overnight... on PS2. someone really good can do 100 levels in an hour on SA-- I could do 300-400 on VC due to the fixed spawning point-- SA's is so much tougher, it really is work-- also because it is very difficult very bank much time-- I've only been over level 100 one time and had enough-- it wore this old man out.... OrionSR
Sorry, Zoom. But my PC results are pretty similar to yours. Well, the crashing part anyway. No sense comparing notes on Brown Thunder as we can't hardly get started. I had several attempts that were... I don't know... 200, 300, but always resulted in a crash an nothing to show for my progress. So instead of extended hunter missions I started playing with other challenges - SWAT+Mini-gun, Rhino+6 Stars, Copbike and SMG only, that sort of thing. I find these challenges a bit more interesting than hours on end of flying the Hunter and hoping my game won't crash.

zmoonchild
That's awesome, how come you don't have a wanted level? I discovered that exiting the vehicle to shoot the suspect, rather than remaining inside the vehicle, allows your Wanted Level to decrease more often than shooting them from inside the vehicle. My strategy is to also know the cops’ patterns, as to when and how they’ll react when shots are fired, and to shoot the suspects while they’re approaching you instead of heading away from you. I only used three weapons: the minigun and the SMG, and sometimes the Sniper Rifle. I’ve also memorized most of the Police Bribe locations. doesnt that mean you used cheats? I NEVER use cheats, EVER. zmoonchild
Ok, ok, just a friendly question. No need to get angry Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as being angry. I was just using emphasis. an hour I was stuck on a level due to a vehicle spawning inside of a building and it taking me that long to find a weapon to get them (minigun barrel is far enough infront of tommy it shot through the wall) I had a similar situation in Vice City with the Hunter Vigilante mission: a suspect on foot somehow got caught between some hedges and a building, and no matter what I did, I couldn't kill him. I spent about a half hour on it until my time ran out. Edited December 26, 2007 by zmoonchild
GTA Phreak
I've gotten very close to level 1000 on PC (998 I think) before it crashed. The highest screenshot I've got: Since my PC is rock-stable I think it is unlikely that HGF's record can be beaten on PC. I think the highest I got with a police-car (using the same car all the way), is this:

One way is to do the Heli Hell race in LV Airport. Just leave the Hunter after the countdown and when you return to the race screen you should have the Hunter beside you. JCMillerTime
we need to get an official record book here at gtaforums, the one on gtplanet is, well it's on a gran turismo site. that seems wrong. I'd like to take a shot at beating 1416 or whatever the record is, but I was thinking... what's the biggest hinderance when you're doing a marathon of vigilante missions? food. what's stopping someone from putting in the never hungry code before starting their missions and circumventing the toughest part of doing that many vigilante missions in a row?
