I'm a big fan of GTA since the first and i often read topics here cuz people noticed good thing and there no spammer. So, I wanted you to find why R* is givin old screens (somes are from the very early developement and had been given in November - December). On these screens we can see that the background is horrible, they did something to the screen... They don't give the present work, they give work that have been done 8,10 months or more ago with crappy textures., very strange background. Screens after first and second trailer were beautiful but now they give some "old digitaled screenshot". Graphics in the third trailer aren't those we saw in the last screenshot. R* know that only fans looks screenshot and casual gamer only looks trailer. Are they trying to scare fans that looks and analyse every screenshot to make them more happy once they get the game? Are they hiding an AMAZING game? Or they got problem... Don't know but i can't wait to play it to get my answer... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's not really a good marketing strategy, seeing as we don't represent the whole of possible consumers of IV. We're only a select few that wait for screenshots, new information, and visit this site a lot. They have to appeal to a broad range of possible consumers and holding back on what they have in store isn't the best option for people that could be on the edge of getting the game or not getting the game. I think those old screens were simply lying around but still had yet to have been 'officially' released in their digital format. So it's easy for R* to upload them for us. But you gotta admit this screen isn't like the older ones. it's bad ass-- just look at the shadows in the pillars, and Nikos shoes are bending realistically, and the detail in the banner. I think that one is much newer than the other ones you're talking about. I don't think it have anything to do with "holding back. So when we are actually playing the game we are going to be amazed." Obviously this was taken many months ago because I remember this was one of the first shots released. Either you linked the wrong picture or they did something to the picture that altered it's date. EDIT: According to jordan, this picture was 'captured' November 28th. If anyone here had tried, and can remember typing http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/GTA_(number it was).html or something like that, you could get into this picture, before it was released November-December. It was actually one of the first pictures on the Rockstar site, but was later hidden. I'm guessing jordans theory is wrong.... Maybe it means Nov. 2006 And yeah, according to GTA.NET, adamcs (who's constantly on touch with Rockstar) said the recently xmas-released screens were dated July 07... So they are old (except the one with Niko hanging on the truck, I think). Plus, If you notice the screens are actually taken from the same locations seen in the old screens... I think these were supposed to be released just before Oct. 2007, but then after the delay they came out now. What's the point of giving us early-development screens?
