TTT4
I'm beginning to think this new Liberty City is gonna be bigger than we originally thought. From what I've seen from the most recent screenshots and trailer I think we're in store for a very big city. We seen so many different areas already I just get the feeling the city is gonna be bigger than we thought. This is exactly why I wish they release the map already!!! Does anybody really know how big its gonna be?
MysteryGamer
It will be huge I am sure of that, a bit smaller than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas's map, but there will be no desert or countryside so the city will feel bigger in a way. Well Rockstar said in a early preview of the game something like "the game will be smaller than San Andreas, but much more detailed" BUT it will be on par with San Andreas in terms of scope, especially when you consider all the buildings we will be able to go in etc. They also mentioned that creating a map the size of San Andreas "would be absurd". ceedot
Smaller than SA in radius, but including interiors it will match SA, or bigger...

MysteryGamer
They said the map is smaller than SA, but the city is expected to be huge. Definitely. Here is a quote from IGN's brief E3 2007 viewing of Grand Theft Auto IV: Lastly, as the demo ended and the screen was paused, we got the shortest glimpse of the map for a split second and indeed it's a big game. It looked like two enormous islands linked at the middle, but the glimpse was so short that we could be wrong there. However, in line with the presenter's comments, we're expecting San Andreas scale here. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/804/804228p1.html

The new LC is going to be totally jam packed with buildings and what-not. I'm sure it'll end up feeling bigger than SA.
NoSkillz187
Yea this will be the biggest city in any game ever. I believe R* said no one has attempted a city of this size with this much detail. They said it is a little smaller than the whole state of San Andreas. So try to wrap that around your head. Its ONE city just a little smaller than the WHOLE STATE of SanAndreas. Thats a pretty huge city!
GhostMann
it will be bigger just no deserts or jungles..thank god.. it will just be a hell of uh game
Carbine23
It's going to be like all 3 cities of San Andreas combined with Red County, Flint County and Whetstone but without Tierra Robada and Bone County. That's about 3/4 of San Andreas. I remember an article saying that it'll take an hour to reach one point of Liberty City to the other. That's of course false. I'm guessing it'll take like 10 - 20 minutes if you race but there might be a lot of traffic in the game so it might be hard to dodge cars especially in midtown Algonquin. Oh and i hope they release a portion of the map. I really want a map of Broker, Algonquin and Dukes.

Thats why i hate some magazines. They just spout nonsense. SA was massive and it was no where near taking an hour to go from one end to the other. Unless you walked the whole way. Lifestyles of The Cool
(ALL CITY) Welcome to the steel jungle, known as LIBERTY CITY. Home to crooked politicians, criminal organizations, hustlers, pimps, killers, fiends, pychopaths, hookers, stick-up kids, gangs, crooked cops, & tourist. The sound of gunfire, knows no difference between night and day. If you are visiting relatives, we suggest you stay with them. Once the sun creeps away, you are left to fight your way to it's next visit. Most come to the city to find A new life, but in return they are faced with A real test of character. The sheer size of this city alone, is enough to hide everything that would make you turn back. The building's light up at night, drawing you into your possible fate. This city is not for the weak of heart. So bring your dreams, your hope, & your false sense of Courage. The city welcomes you to play our game. More like 5 to 10 minutes. I compare this to True Crime streets of New York, it took me 8 minutes to get from Financial District to Inwood. So I'm quite sure in GTA4, it will take at least 10 minutes. Unless the new liberty city is bigger than Manhattan New York itself. Then it will take longer. Algonquin Assassin
I have a feeling the sheer size of Liberty City, will be enough for my man juices to explode in my pants. If the map is only just a bit smaller than SA, the city will be able to fit LS, SF and LV comfortably. That's a big f***ing city.

Thats a pretty huge city! You are wrong there. It is a city, and suburbs I could say. Because New Jersey is NOT part of New York City. Basically, take San Fierro, Las Venturas, and Las Santos, clash them together, and there's your city. Than take the desert and half the countryside and make that new jersey. TheRoper
^Quit quoting yourself, FFS. @topic: What most people are saying so far is correct. It'll be ~SA size geographically, but pretty much one huge city. And the 'verticality' will add a lot of depth. But in regards to the OP, they actually haven't shown us hardly any of the area. Most of it (the trailers and the screens) has been in a few block radius throughout Broker, and then a few from Algonquin. Check out the Laying Out Liberty Map that adamcs made (with help from a lot of other members of course) and you can see how they've kept most things in the same area so far. (Note: That map right there is just the Broker portion, not the Algonquin part, but that's most of what we've seen so far anyway.) So yes, it will be plenty huge, we've only seen a small portion. KillerKabel
Yea, Map size, almost SA style... But then, if you include all the enterable buildings, all the rooftops and you take away all that water and all the country side and all that useless stuff that, atleast I, never bothered to use... Then, IV will be 3 times the size of SA...
The Night Fox
Maybe even bigger than San Andreas, R* are trying to make look as alike to NY as possible.
