Yep. Part of this game will be set in Europe.

Oh yes.

Go get the full HD trailer from the Xbox marketplace. Looks sexy.

Now that is one trailer that to me looks better than CoD4. Better get me the HD version. Seems like they still can't get the clouds of smoke/gas right. It's been looking the same since CoD1.

Yeeeeeeeeeehaw! EDIT: Remebered that it's the Ruskies campaign. :I I'll still be picking it up for PC, though. icon14.gif

Still only me that's happy about World War II?

3 things i want

- No grenade perks, too much grenade spamming in COD4!

- A map like the jungle on the trailer in a dark forest

- A map with trenches on either side with dead mans land in the middle. So if anyone wants to be a hero and ventures out they get ripped to pieces

Also does anyone know if the sniper ghillie suit guys can actually climb trees, like in the trailer? That would be pretty cool in multiplayer

Also you notice how the barrels of their guns are in the water? There not meant to do that as it could jam it etc. Can some gun fanatic confirm this? On war films they sometimes have bags over their rifles.

No. The only thing boring about WWII games is lack of creativity.

I hope they make the story like Brother in Arms, with emotion and a strong main character and teammates you care about. Have you seen the new Ubidays '08 trailer for BIA? Its like a film trailer, and it looks really violent. On another trailer for it a guy gets his finger blown off in slow motion. Im hoping for realistic gore in COd. What we've seen so far in the trailer is promising (like when the guys tied up or when some soldiers are getting burned)

A gun's barrel being in water doesn't hurt it. Unless it rusts and sh*t. tounge.gif I've seen Glocks being put into mud and fired a good five, six rounds before jamming. If some water were to get in the barrel, that could damage it.

Hell's Highway looks cool, 506th regiment. tounge.gif I'm so hoping it's second battlion. wow.gif

This looks like the biggest heap of sh*t ever.

Treyach still forget to get the soldiers to put their thumbs round the gun propperly.

WW2 is more played out than the f*cking crazy frog ringtone.

Seriously it looks complete sh*te, when I looked at the image I pissed myself laughing at how lame it looked.

Looked like a god damn early PS2 game.

Even though Cod3 wasnt that sh*t, and it still had some draw, because of the online being much larger than the previous game, stepping from 4v4 to 12v12 is quite a jump, and though the vehicles were pretty sh*tty, it gave a funner element, especially manually disabling them. I also felt the pistols were alot better than Cod2.

The worst part was the story, as 1 it sucked and had obsolete canadians and polish. And no russians who were the f*cking coolest. They completely f*cked up all the weapons, it seemed like they werent allowed to recreate them and had to make up random parts to go on them like a random hamster training wheel on the side of the Bren.

But still the fact is its still in WW2 and that is just so not apealing when the game has gone forward and shown what else we could have, nobody wants to go back to 5 basic tv channels once they have experienced cable.

edit: And off the above post. Glocks are new as sh*t and shouldnt be compared to WW2 weapons, the Glock was designed to have enough power to shoot with water and sand inside it, though not actually meant for underwater firing. Most weapons if the water is fully inside the mechanisms it will just go boom, but things like the HK 416 are invincible to that. But yeah if its just the barrel dipped in a bit, vertically its just going to all slide right out again as you take it out, so it shouldnt be a problem.

@Daz and Gronf: thanks for clearing that up

@Daz: How can you say it looks like a ps2 game? look at my previous post with the soldiers walking through the water. The people look brilliant as do the water and foliage. You mus be blind

CVG Previews COD: World At War

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=191418

The claim that the game is better then expected and feels very different from your average WW2 shooter. They claim it's every bit as intense as COD4, and that you should give Treyarch a chance because they came up with some pretty neat things in the game.

Say "It's not Infinity Ward!" all you want, but let down some of your defences as Call of Duty: World at War could be massive.

After GTA IV, I find it hard to trust these same previewers.

I think World at War is going to be decent at best.

@Don - I know how you feel. I was also dissapointed with GTA4. I thought i'd never get bored of it but now i don't play it anymore. I trust them though for various reasons and hopefully they don't crush my dreams.

Meh, highly doubt it.

Take it with a pinch of salt for the time being but an insider from Infinity Ward is reported to have said, "we are currently working on a new sci-fi title, we cannot release any more information as of yet, we may or may not announce it at E3."

Sci Fi would fail, so I'm pretty sure it will be a different title.

I have to say, this looks promising. I think it will feel weird to drop back to less powerful weapons, in game and online, but I am a fan of WWII shooters.

modern weapons require no skill. WW2 weapons require skill. And there will be weapon upgrades and perks for those who are in love with COD4. Expect more information to be coming soon.

Oh and Ronnyboy, nice try at trying to rob my topic by making your own official one biggrin.gif

Creed Bratton

How come they never set it in Vietnam war. I would definitely like that. In my opinion no one ever made a good Vietnam based FPS. And it would be cool to have AK47, M16 and whatnot. And of course run away from napalm strikes. The jungle setting would be great. They just have to make one in Vietnam. Although the story might be a problem, cause we all know what we all know about who won the war......so probably not gonna happen sad.gif

The US military won the battles, our politicians lost us the war.

I'm not to sure on that, all previous Vietnam games I believe have been total crap. This will most likely follow the same path.

And considering the way the war was fought, it just doesn't sound to fun anyways.

I agree with that, WW2 weapons do require more skill definately. However, did you say that there will be perks in the new CoD5, perks in a WW2 game, wtf?

WWII games can still be good- if you try different things. Up until now, most games have focused on the western front or on Stalingrad. Very little has been done in regards to the Pacific, and it can offer up a very different experiance if done right.

Can it be done? Yes.

Can this developer do it? We'll see. They've had more time on this than they had for COD3.

This is only the case in the Call of Duty series.

Yeah, WWII has been pretty overdone when it comes to certain aspects of the fight. There are a few different angles they could use to make this one fresh. I hop they take those.

Yeah I feel you, I'll have to see how people react to it. I can see a LOT of people buying it just because COD4 was such a hit.
