samor
I've noticed in one of the new screens there is a sign which reads "DON'T BLOCK THE BOX, FINE PLUS 2 POINTS" I'm just thinking that maybe, just maybe, if a police officer or CCTV camera sees you comitting a traffic offence, such as blocking a junction, wrong way down a one way street or speeding then you might get a fine + points. The fine would be self explanatory but maybe the points contribute to your wanted level in some small way. Who knows?
Berkley
Or maybe they will use stingers again like they used in VC.

ryuclan
Man I hope we dont have to worry about minor traffic infractions. I like to drive down the wrong side of the road cause its faster, and sometimes you have no choice.

I like to drive down the wrong side of the road cause its faster, and sometimes you have no choice. This is part of what made GTA. It's a fun game where you can drive fast and (let's face it) not have to worry about consequences. I'm all for realism here and there, but this is just one part of GTA you can't take away. Ben Fleming
Hopefully IV isn't going to go all "Driv3r" and have the cops on us for speeding or mounting the sidewalk ("Hey, streets are just a suggestion - like pants!"), but it would be interesting to have the cops lightly following us for minor crimes, and we could opt to pay a small fine instead of, you know, going on a cop-killing rampage to escape from a speeding ticket. Edit: I apologize for that ridiculously long sentence. I have failed.
phs1234
Oh yeah, and if (IF) R* did this, they would need to overhaul the handling system - it's just too difficult to drive perfectly with the current car handling.

Maronae
I couldn't imagine parking my car on a sidewalk, starting a mission, and having a $75 fine and a star when I was done with the cutscene...
Ben Fleming
Well thats exactly the case. I dont want to have to kill numerous cops just to get away from a speeding ticket. Yeah, because I mean you usually end up committing several more serious crimes to escape from a minor one. I know some'll argue that that's pretty much the point of GTA, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood to get into a big confrontation about why there's now a parking meter stuck in my car's grill, so it'd be nice to occasionally just pay the cops and get on with my other business. Like plotting to whack a melodramatic lawyer, or something.

NoSkillz187
Those signs are just there for detail. Cause those signs are everywhere in the real New York. I doubt we will be getting tickets for running redlights and etc. It would be dumb, imo.

Of course, I mean, I would love to SEE tickets on my car from these signs, or even catch a tow truck taking it, but I dont want the actual police to try to stop me for anything traffic related. j0rkeh
Then that would just be retarded everything is realistic but you can still drive int he sidewalk like a retard with the cops just acting liek they don't see you.

voteneg
I think a lot of the things in GTA have double meanings... I can only speculate what the "dont block the box" sign will have to do with in game play... but as a joke I think it could mean no cock blocking. From urban dictionary... 1. cock blocking To hinder, by whatever means, the chances of another male from getting a sexual encounter with a female. Man, will you get da f*ck outta here and stop cock blocking me you Ja Rule loving parasite. 1. box Female Genitalia, usually used in a derogitory manner. Stacy is nice to look at but I heard she has a smelly box. ...except maybe not. Turns out that "don't block the box" was an actual NYC campaign to reduce traffic congestion. The idea is that if you were stuck in an intersection (box) at a red light then you could get fined or ticketed... they actually penalized you by docking points of your drivers license. It never worked but heres a picture of an actual sign... and an explanation of it from former nyc mayor Mr. Rudolph Guiliani. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=616637

crux989
I can imagine Joe Bob paying his 75 dollar bill for speeding, but Niko? HA! He can and will run your mother over just for wearing a yellow shirt. Theres no way hes going to bother paying for such petty things as traffic citations. samor
The fines/points could be automatically deducted for minor offences, no tickets or getting pulled over! With the improved AI mounting the kerb might be ok, but running someone over would cause you big problems I'm sure.

Wanted level? Sounds dodgy to me.
