TheRoper
Didn't read through the whole topic so this may have been brought up, but does anyone remember when the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 broke up and hit Jupiter? That was pretty sick. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/304709-astronomers-say-asteroid-could-hit-mars/?do=findComment&comment=1057353941 Share on other sites

Picolini
That one was extremely bigger than the one to his Mars, so if you're getting worried about anything happening to us when/if Mars gets, stop it. There's no way in hell that Mars getting hit can affect us on any large scale. At most, there might be a tiny little debris shower and 95% of the sh*t would get disintegrated in the atmosphere. I know that Jupiter is a lot farther than Mars, but I'd say proportionately the effects will be the same. Nothing. TheJonesy
[Edit] "On November 20, 2007, NASA researchers have detected asteroid 2007 WD5 that has an estimated 1 in 75 chance of impacting Mars on 30 January 2008 around 10:55 UT. [100] If the asteroid is indeed on a collision course, it would hit Mars with a velocity of about 13.5 km/s (8.4 miles per second), and would produce an explosion equivalent to about 3 megatons of TNT. The asteroid is thought to be similar to the one which hit Tunguska in 1908." -Wikipedia Asteroid's course with Mars Reading this topic, someone said it will hit Mars with 18 km/h like.. thats kinda slooooow.I thought asteroids hit planets with 150 km/h?? Oddsock
I heard the chances of it hitting are one in seventy-five. Hopefully that eases some minds. GhostMann
How much damage could a 160 feet long asteroid do? Just curious, it doesn't sound that big at all, but it's obviously it's velocity we have to take into account too. it dont sound that big but its BIG... 160 feet big rock flying on than becomes fires in mid air... BOOOM but how in the hellll did the other planets survive a asteroid...weird Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/304709-astronomers-say-asteroid-could-hit-mars/?do=findComment&comment=1057354597 Share on other sites
