TheGuyFromThere
The topic title pretty much explains it all. There's an old government listening post nearby and much research has led us to find that there is a stairway that leads below the actual building, where it is apparently bigger underground. As we've been through the building many times and not found this, we suspect it is behind the 6 foot solid metal door with a dial on the front. Now, as with most safes, they're made so you can't get in... but where's the harm in trying. We're going to try and bust our way through a side wall (and hope that it's not metal plated) with some tools. But if anyone has any idea how to do this sort of thing, much obliged indeed. Cheers. PS. Photographs will be provided inactive

Digïtál £vîl
I have always wondered if liquid nitrogen would actually work. Freezing the hinges really fast and then trying to break them. lol. But then you will have to figure out how to pull out the now useless 6 foot metal vault door. That would be hard to do with just a few people. Seems like an interesting task. Let us know how it works out.

I'll find a picture on flickr of it that someone else took. For some reason my photos are no longer on it. It's gona be such craic EDIT########### Saget, no we do not have a blow torch. Saggy
What kind of tools are you using, because I think you're going to need at least a jackhammer. Not really anyway to tell from the pictures though. I would try to find an industrial-strength drill and either a very large bit or some type of viewing device you can put into the room before wasting your time trying to get in. I mean, you don't want it to turn out when Heraldo opened Capone's vault. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration! Pulse.
Ok, listen close im only going to say this once, alright? YOU HEAR ME? Ok. Alright. Here's what you need to do, go down to the subway, talk to a guy named marco, tell him that come from three. You might be thinking, "Wait, three's a number not a place" WELL JUST f*ckING DO IT. Marco is going to give you a 3x4x5 Burlap sack, then you have to take the subway back to E section, and talk to Joseph. Ask him for the "Brown Munchie Surprise" and he'll hand you three potatoes, stuffed with 200kg of high powered explosive, then continue with what you have to do. This never happend. Picolini
Well I saw this show where they were showing off weapons, and there's this one "explosive" that basically blasts holes through steal. It can go through a 1/4 plate with something about the side of a thimble or two. How it works is it directs a high pressure, high heat charge in a single direction, puncturing straight through the steel. Most likely that door is 1/2 an inch, and I'm sure you could get through it with the stuff I saw. The thing is, I'm not sure what it was. I'm really thinking it was magnesium, but it was probably mixed with something else. You might be able to get in through the sides. I would guess the walls are thinner than the door, so if you need to get in through steel at some point, better through the sides. To make it easy, maybe just rent a jack hammer! TheGuyFromThere
Yea, see I lost my £50,000 thimble-firing cannon in a game of poker...... Our only real option is by going at the walls and hoping that they're not steel plated. Did I mention the whole building is bomb proof? The walls in one room, judging by the window inset, measured a meer, feeble 1.5 feet thick. inactive
Digïtál £vîl
How thick is the door? One thing you can do is get a blow torch or some sort of heavy metal drill and drill through where the original dial/handle was. Right through. Then you feed a few hooked heavy pieces of metal rebarb or something into the hold. Weld them together to make a hook anchor and find some heavy machinery to connect that to and pull. For better effect, cut through the door in a large circle - just large enough to step through. You don't have to melt it through all the way if you use a blow torch, just enough to weaken the metal (if that is possible). Then in the center, do the drill thing and pull through. If you have enough power going through it, you can break the door. Of course, you would probably need a fairly sized and experienced crew to do this. And you wouldn't be able to use a normal rope to hook it to some something to pull it. It would probably have to be highly rated steel cable so as to sustain the heavy weight. It is difficult to plan and execute, but not impossible.
TheGuyFromThere
What youre saying is a fantastic idea, if we could do it. But we're just a couple of blokes that want to knock a wall down, or rip a door from a hinge. Normal tools, for an abnormal job.... inactive
Picolini
It wasn't a bajillion dollar cannon, it was a small device about the size of a battery with a remote electric trigger. As to the cost of it, I wouldn't know. It was just a idea I was throwing out there. You could look into other types of concentrated explosives that won't make much noise or damage. But since you're trying to go at it with everyday tools, I'd say bring a sledge hammer for sure. Chances are, if the building is bomb proof, and that door has a lock on it, then the walls are also bomb proof, or at least metal plated. You might be able to knock the wall apart at the edge where the hinge would be, and it might break off the hinge.
Saget
Once a friend told me how to make a bomb with a 2l plastic bottle, milk and chlorine. Sixdust
How about some good old bruteforce? Use crowbars and whatever else you can afford. Otherwise head down to your hardware store and pig out. Or you can do a chemical procedure. Some are fast and explosive, while others are slow and corrosive. You could try acid or base, thermite, or some sort of combination there of. Get inventive, and you will get in. What is the noise tolerance for this area, meaning how loud can you go before people notice and what sort of budget and time are you hoping to use to accomplish this? TheGuyFromThere
ok NO BOMBS Its a rural/suburban area. Noise tollerance?
