Oblivionz
I went with about 15 people and seen this the other night at a drive-in movie theater. I thought the beginning was good, I could hear it. Lots of funny scenes, and the beginning of the prison/jail scene had me laughing hysterically. After that, we started talking and laughing, so it became a task to hear. Once they got to that fight in the tornado, I completely lost the plot and what was going on up until the point where he got shot in the gas station and was revealed to be becoming mortal Overall, it was a good movie but I'm not gonna watch it again unless someone else pays for me or it comes to DVD. Vanillainy
I went to see this last night and the cinema was packed, we had to get a later showing because the one I went to watch was full. But I agree with what has been said here already, the first 45 minutes or so was great and I was laughing alot of the time. But after the "twist" when she throws him out of the house, then it felt a little crappy. Then you had the tornado fight scene which was terrible since its not like you could see anything. It was a decent watch, but the middle of the movie felt a bit cheesy to be honest.
Otter
@ Paps - early in the film, the family is sitting down for dinner. The kids is asking Hancock all sorts of questions, and Hancock cracks wise about him talking alot. Charlize Theron then saying something along the lines of "he's just acting out because his parents are going through a bitter divorce." Later on in the film, it's said that Jason Bateman's wife is dead and not in any sort of revelatory fashion, either, just stated as if it was fact. So, I don't know. It's easily explained away, but awkward. Anyhow, I'm in agreement with a lot of what was said so far. Someone said they didn't like the inner/personal storyline, and I really have to disagree with that - that should have become the main plotline, instead of tornado battles and near death experiences. At one point during the latest trailers, it seemed to me that it could have been something as simple as love that diminishes his powers, and I think that would have made for a more interesting story. It is a fairy tale, of sorts, after all.
Groovy
I'll agree with you guys about it being a bit uneven when the tone of the movie switchs, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it, one of the best moments is when Bateman kills that guy with the axe

darthYENIK
Damn, there was an extra scene! I was one of those "owned" you speak of, that was down the hall. I was wondering why there was such a little crowd coming out after me.

'Tis why I always chill and stretch my arms and wait if a scene happens after the credits. Made me laugh because he was in New York instead of L.A., like the police chief said in the beginning of the film . Great movie, dumb twist, bangbangbangaction. Loved it. Guglielminpietro
I thought this was an excellent film. A lot of the reviews I read panned the ending but I thought it was great! Good film, I'd advise anyone to go and watch it. soundcloud.com/TheDamnFineCoats

-slash
I thought it was pretty cool, but it could have been a lot better. Like if they'd played out the whole asshole superhero thing a bit longer. Would have liked to have seen him causing more damage and mayhem. Also would have preferred if the love story was less convoluted or just absent. I understood what was going on, but felt as though it was too rushed and required too much suspension of belief in order for me to look past it. I understand it's a fantasy, but yeah. My impression of the movie as a whole was a very strong opening, up to the bank heist but then my best analogy of the ending would be half a novel with several sticky-notes tacked onto the back cover. It just became too convoluted. I mean seriously, where did the evil mastermind come from. There was the whole thing on the news of the prisoner escape, and him been some psychological expert, but it just wasn't enough. It was like, "oh btw, those guys he f*cked with are angry and want to come try and kill a superhero." Despite the fact the mastermind himself watched as bullets bounced off the guy. When they escaped they had no idea he was in hospital. I suppose the argument there would be that they saw it as an oppurtunity, but bullsh*t, why get all pumped up about escaping to get back at someone with super human strength and immortality if you've got no idea he has weaknesses. The only reason that part of the story bothers me is because it seemed like such an afterthought. If it'd been thought out better it might have worked. So yeah, from my film critic point of view, average at best, poorly constructed, but when I was in the cinema I had my fun hat on, and Hancock delivered. Sauron
I thought the movie was average at best. I thought the movie could have concentrated on him being more of an asshole and at times it felt as though they were trying too hard to be funny. I did really enjoy parts of the movie and they were able to make you care for Hancock but on the whole I would probably give the movie a 3/5. In it's defence just before the movie started I did have 3 kids sit next to me, between the ages of 5-8. Like what the f*ck. Then the parents sat the row behind so they didn't have to put up with them or somesh*t. So I had to put up with the kids talking during half the movie, giggling at the dumbest f*cking scenes, and constantly kicking the bar. f*cking motherf*ckers, never going to the cinema again note: I would have moved, but I was sitting with my ma and we were boxed in and the movie was starting. Digïtál £vîl
Sauron, I know what you mean. Worse than kids is grown adults who do similar things. Every time I go, there are a few of the obligatory people that attend as well. - The jackass who answers his phone in the middle of the movie and then proceeds to spend 5 minutes telling the guy on the other end he can't talk because he is in a movie. - The people who comment on EVERY scene in the movie, even the boring ones making jackass comments outloud. - The couple of people who don't pay attention to the movie at all and just have side conversations - The kid who asks his parents a question for every single scene. - I went to see iron man and the kid asked his father in EVERY scene "IS DAT IRON MAN?" I tend to hate those people and that is why I don't go to the cinema a lot. I had an interesting conversation about Hancock though. My girlfriend pointed out how she expected it to be a comedy initially which made me remember the original trailers for it. They really did push it as a comedy initially and only when it got closer to the release date did they start showing it's true colors. It really is amazing what they can do to "twist" the story around to convince people to see the movie.

The first half was pretty damn good, really original, excellent idea. It was funny, and I laughed at all the jokes. The second half was like a completely different movie, they changed the tone completely, it became a total cliche ridden by-the-numbers superhero movie. I might as well have been watching a black Superman, combine that with the really unnecessary twists and it just seemed so half arsed and thrown together. They didn't even leave room for a sequel, Hancock went from being an interesting character with the potential to develop and transformed him into a boring average superhero. They should have left some of his bad habbits in there, instead they made him go from a drunkard into a perfect white knight. I lost all interest in the character come the second half. Oh and if you have problems with your cinema going experience, you should really get the ushers to deal with it rather than suffer through the whole movie. Rhoda
Just as a side note there Widow, most of the time there's no members of staff in the screen at all to moderate conditions but I wish there were. darthYENIK
They're usually outside the theater. My reason for not getting their attention is because I paid money to watch the movie, I'm not going to leave the theater to talk to someone who will just tell the people to be quiet. I can do that on my own. Plus, what's a insecure pimply faced 16 year old usher going to do if the people refuse to stop "acting out"?

Quadropheniac90
I liked the first half, and also enjoyed how he became 'better'. It was clearly with aversion that he became better. But then all of the sudden the woman is a superhero as well and it all becomes weird. Still not bad, had some funny bits, but bit of a sudden and unneeded plot change. master ED
Yep, it's a masterpiece of modern cinema...put in a few popular actors, roid it up with some cg sh*t, nevermind the story, do not try to develop a serious villain for the weak storyline, rather make him even weaker than the storyline...the first 15 minutes were promising, the rest was some of the biggest BS that I've seen in the past few years! Gantons Most Wanted
You know Hancock lived up to its hype which not many movies do these days most of them these days are all cgi bullsh*t with minimal brief crappy story thats basically the same idea everyone uses over and over again during the decade until they find somthing else to milk dry. But as much comedy they put in the film how it went from all funny and smartass jokes to been serious with evil masterminds from bankheists thats what sort threw the story it had a good formula but toward the end they seem to have rushed it.
