TonyZimmzy
Let's all take a breather and think about what it'd be like for you, an average-joe, to have super-human powers. What would you do with them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv4-65u-9vE I'm stoked to see this movie. It's called Hancock, and it's out in mid-2008 - summer, roughly. It's starring Will Smith in the lead-role as the, I guess we should call it, "anti-hero". I'm not sure what to expect from the movie, but the end of the trailer just made me laugh until my sides split. The effects look pretty incredible, too. Just thought I'd share this with anyone who didn't know of it yet.

The videos actual length is 1:45 but due to converting it at high quality it reads 8:19! Its best to let the video fully load before playing! Enjoy! Reading is awesome. Digïtál £vîl
Man, at first I heard about this and wasn't very interested. Then I watched that trailer and I know I will have to see this. Movie looks hilarious. As it is, I know if I had super powers I would probably do the same thing as him. Why not? You have the ability to. haha. I actually think I would sleep on the side of the road in the bad part of town every once in a while just because I knew no one could f*ck with me. Otter
Wow, better than I expected! The first half was awesome. The big twist, while catching me off guard, was a bit of a letdown, but I totally recommend this for a fun movie. Anyone else seen it? I'll spare any lengthy reviews until we've got a few more opinions.

Can I ask if the big twist was Hancock was created into a superhuman for an experiment and the blond girl is another evil superhuman.? I haven't seen the movie but that is pretty much what I've gotten from the commercial trailers so far.
Otter
No on the government experiment, but she is another super-power/demigod. Kind of a little contrived, but it all wrapped up rather nicely.

Otter
Well, basically, Hancock only remembers the past 80 years or so, because of a massive head injury/amnesia. So it turns out that there's this whole mythological storytelling behind the whole thing - these demigods were created by the "gods" to protect humanity; they come in pairs - there's a positive and a negative, of sorts, and when they come in contact for a long period of time, they become mortal. So what Hancock has forgotten was that he and Jason Bateman's wife are the only two remaining, and also that they have been married in the past, and gone through periods of mortality - hence the injury that led to his amnesia. It sounds worse than it plays out, really. The end of the film ties up some of the loose ends. There's one weird line, early in the film, about a divorce, that may or may not be a blooper, but I'm sure some internet geek will start a discussion about it somewhere. I personally would have preferred it if the backstory remained a mystery, because the 'asshole superhero' storyline was fantastic.

And just from that small summary I can see how indepth they could technically make the storyline and character. Sounds like it will be a good film. I was planning on watching it on Friday but wasn't completely sure. I will have to encourage my girlfriend to see it Friday with me then.
TenaciousD.
The first hour was great, it started right in the action and the first 10minutes were very enjoyable. Going on for the next, 30/40 minutes it was just as good. Had quite a few funny lines which got the whole audience laughing and the story was quite interesting. Then he got put in prison for all the damage he had caused. This was OK, had probably the films funniest moment in it involving one head and one ass. Then from when he was out of there it kind of took a big dip. I could live with him being popular now and such, the dinner scene was a bit boring. Then back at the house, the 'twist' came. Although I did not really care about it, saw it coming a mile off. From there the plot went out the window. A big fight in a tornado (which you can't make out what is going on at all), a minor charecter from earlier mysteriously escaping from prison to go after Hancock and him starting to become mortal. The last 15minutes were good, in the hospital though.. I felt the villian was created for the sake of a good finale, and did not really fit into the plot well and the whole backstory about Hancocks powers was badly executed. Not a bad film, just let down by a script that needed some improvements.

JoeyLeone25
There's one weird line, early in the film, about a divorce, that may or may not be a blooper, but I'm sure some internet geek will start a discussion about it somewhere. What/when was that...? I'm sure Charlize Theron mentioned it to Will Smith in one of their very first encounters after they knew eachothers identities. Hancock started off really promising in my eyes, with a few chuckle-worthy moments and strong action set-pieces, but once Berg tried to inject emotion into the film, the narrative just seemed to fall flat on it's back and where it was once slowly moving forward, after the half-hour mark seemed to be just drowning in a collection of various plot and sub-plot points being thrown in at once. It felt as if, Peter Berg decided half-way through to throw the script (very thin script, mind) out of the window and create an emotional story of one lonely man's journey in over-populated world, rather than just focus on the mind-less action set-pieces, which weren't particularly great in reality, but were better, and would have been better than some of the cringe-worthy scenes involving Charlize Theron and Will Smith. Still, a young child sat behind me really enjoyed the film, especially everytime Will Smith swore...
