Knucklehead
My Component and HDMI plug in's on my tv recently screwed up and anything pluggeg into them when displayed on the tv has a greenish tint. Anyways, I figured it would be easier to just switche evrything to DVI since I already have one for my PC, and Xbox360, but I ran into a problem regarding my PS3. They don't make a DVI cable for PS3 but I found out they had HDMI to DVI cables. Score! But then I got to thinking about that and here is where I need your help. 1. What would I need to put my settings on my PS3 to make it display on the TV? HDMI or DVI? HDMI I am guessing, but I would like to make sure. 2. How would I get sound? Does the cable have 2 audio cables split off the side? Please help!
xrk
1, hdmi there isnt a dvi output setting 2, you have to set the sound another way, like the white and red phono plugs you got on the original lead to an amp.
Otter
Yeah; HMDI and DVI are the exact same video signal.
BCspeed34
I'd just like to say thanks Otter, I had that question floating around in my head as I am upgrading to an Elite in the next few days and I only have a DVI port on my HDTV. And as for sound, what I do for my 360 is have an optical cable running from my TV to my Dolby 7.1 ONKYO box, or make a direct connection from the console to the box. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers

If you are using DVI as your video output from your 360, then sound should go directly to whatever sound equipment you have. Unless you don't have sound equipment, to which you would plug the red and white into the tv for its speakers.
Otter
Yeah, no worries, BC. The adapters are fairly cheap, too - don't buy an overpriced one; it's hard to screw up a digital signal.
