Lost my 1080p set recently, have downgraded to a 720p/1080i screen. sad.gif Not too big of a difference though, at least compared to a SDTV to any HDTV.

I got a 10 year old tv which belonged to my great grand father. So no, I don't use HDTV.

I wonder how many of these people actually own the TV or if their mommy and daddy technically bought it and they just use it. dozingoff.gif

I do have a HDTV that I bought. It is only a 32 inch LCD but plays great for my 360.

I've only got a 19' Widescreen LCD TV that does a max of 720p which at that size looks fantastic as its a bedroom TV which doesn't need to be huge. Its only a AWA from BigW but its surprisingly good for a cheap thing, was only $500 12 months ago.

Only issue I am having is that the TV only has one set of component inputs and since the 360 takes that up the HD Set Top box I've just bought has nowhere to connect for HD. I am probably just going to revert to using the combination of the 360's VGA cable and the TV's VGA connection.

Cheapest HDTVs in New Zealand run at about $1200. I am going to just bide my time and pick up something nice and big. I'm looking at a Samsung 42 inch LCD.

Which model is it? Link?

I may be on the lookout for a HDTV for DVD playback as the cable I have apparently doesn't support it.

For now I'm using my 19" Samsung LCD monitor. I have a KVM switch so I can effortlessly switch between PC and Xbox use.

When researching my TV, I considered the difference between progressive (720p, or 1080p) and interlaced (1080i). Honestly, I found if you play a lot of video games or watch a lot of sports then progressive is what you want.

Most 720p televisions also handle 1080i. I watch most of my nature and science shows in 1080i because it is high quality but slow moving (usually) so the change of blurring from motion is low. Meanwhile, I watch all my sports and play my video games at 720p for the progressive scanning so the chance of blurring is minimal.

I had a really good website that talked about it, but can't seem to find it anymore. Oh well.

Well if getting the TV tomorrow counts, then yes. tounge.gif Its a Panasonic 26", I think its only a 720p though. Can't wait.

I'm sure that I was able to pick "720p" in the display menu in the Xbox 360 settings, but after the Fall update I can't anymore, only the resolution, which reset to 640x480 after the update. Does that sound right?

When I was using my monitor, my settings were at 1280x1024. Anything lower looked less crisp compared.

Unless you mean it reset to 640x480 before you changed it to a higher resolution.

It reset to 640x480, yeah. I'm running 1280x1024 like you did. I just seem to recall that I was able to pick "720p" and it would automatically run it at the highest resolution, or thereabouts. But after the Fall update there's just a list of resolutions. Might just be me.

When was the fall update? Before November 14th? Because that's the day I got my 360 and it just had different resolutions (the highest one being 1340x768, which is widescreen) from the start. Unless you're using a proper HDTV, I don't think you get the options like 480, 720, 1080, etc.

You talking about your sig or your TV? tounge.gif

It seems there's an equal amount to those who own a HDTV and those who use an SDTV. Interesting..

19" "Acoustic Solutions" HD tv. (I know, I'd never heard of it either.) Got it yesterday for £145 in the Boxing Day sales.

I recently bought a 24" monitor for my PC and i now play everything in 1920x1200.

Makes such a difference, big monitors are well worth the money.

Ill be hooking an elite 360 or a PS3 into it in a month or 2.

I don't have an HDTV, but I game in component (the half-way point between SD and HD, if that's the right word). It makes everything oh so much better looking. Everything is much more crisp and clear.

My family has a 50 inch HDTV downstairs and I just got an Xbox 360 Elite. I mostly play in my room on my 19 inch TV, but since mine came with the HDMI cable I have tried some games in HD. They look spectacular.
