derty
About everything in the trailers being cutscenes - I'd say about 50/50 gameplay (with different angles just to give it a more movie like feel) and cutscenes. The fire will be the same in the game, if you think otherwise, well you're not thinking straight. It's like saying that the muzzleflashes look different in the cutscenes and in actual gameplay. Every new game has cutscenes rendered on the fly with the in game engine, for many years now. The only difference being the fact that you can't move as you wish (Kane & Lynch made some progress in this though - you could change the camera angles a bit). What? San ANdreas was the first GTA to use the in-game engine for cut scenes. Many years? My ass.
gibbs1189
The flames in the 3rd trailer look amazing. But , it's a cut scene. Will all flames look this good ? I hope so. Question : Do you think that fire will be able to spread ? Also , will gasoline leave a trace that can be ignited ? Will we be able to use it as a weapon ( you know , drench someone in it and then ....wooof ) ?Your thoughts.... Uh, no one has said that this is definitivly a cut-scene. This could be him walking by a building he set on fire, R* can do what they want with the camera angles just so you know. They are the Dev's after all. ceedot
Cutscenes are animated parts of the game, that are real time made. That's why you can wear different clothes at that time, and it will come up. The fire will look that good, I assure you. And most of those parts weren't even cutscenes. They were played, then replayed and taped in a different position. It's called... publicity!
YourNeighborhoodKiller
I wonder what will happen if you get burnt? Will your clothes become black along with your skin? Then you'll have to play the game as a burnt man and the peds will stare at you in shock. Joking, Ceedot dont put this in your damn sig I don't see how thats funny. It's called... publicity! ummmm...no. it's called editing. or possibly "real time" editing, but definitely not publicity. publicity is how you get the games name out there, and known. getting it mentioned in places, getting it seen in places, getting it out there in general. the video itself, or anything related to the video isn't publicity. advertising...but not publicity. CryptReaperDorian
The fire will most likely be like that but it will probably take a while for the fire to become as dense and large as it is in the trailer.
Carbine23
How did this topic go from fire to about if the trailers were cutscenes or gameplay??? Anyway i hope that one building can catch fire at least like one of those small aparments in the city, and i want the FDLC (fire department of Liberty City) to act realisticly to try to diminish the fire or save people and not just spray water at it
GhostMann
the fires looks waaaay better... notice VC or SA fires in the missions, they really didnt look like no fires... the fire n gta4 cutscene had more flames.. other cutscene were it was smokey
sronsr
well im sorry to say that but... after watching the 2nd trailer... after the cop car hits the sidewalk and flips, niko is driving towards a gas tank, as soon as it explodes there are alot of tiny flames such as GTA SA had... i just hope those arent going to be the game flames and i also hope that there will be an infinite amount of fire to be on the map unlike GTA SA where there could be something like max 20 flames would be cool to burn down a whole street as said

Maronae
If thats not in game fire, then they're falling behind in graphics... I HIGHLY doubt that you can just throw a molotov into a building and watch everyone inside die. I highly doubt that you can go inside, burn some carpet and watch the flames spread and destroy everyone. I can assure you that you cant burn buildings down. Just because "all the cutscenes are in game footage" doesn't mean that you get to burn buildings down when not doing a peticular mission. In SA at one point you render Venturas powerless, that doesn't mean you can do it whenever you want. Also: This is a whole new graphics engine. There won't be these intense graphics and have some '05 fire there. That'd just be completly retarted.

W1ckeD-
Yeah why would they put it in the trailer if it's not going to be that way. Like: Look how great the fire is! But that's not how it's going to be like!! That's lame. So yeah it will look like that.

Slamman
Fire will be contained as most action is, to a close proximity to you in game play, I think the tools are there to increase event times while not in immediate view and this was a shortcoming in past GTAs obviously. That is a key point I hope to see Rockstar address... and yes, the fire WILL look that good. One of the things obvious on next gen hardware is the cutscenes and gameplay can almost directly meld togther!!
