Black screen after splash screen/disclaimer

WINDOWS XP SP1

128mb nVidia geforce fx5200

900mhz AMD Athlon processor

768 MB RAM

 

Basically, it worked perfectly the first time i played, not even slow or anything. And suddenyl i installed a mod and i played it for the second time and now it just goes to a black screen after the disclaimer. It's got the typing cursor in the middle and that's all. I have updated my video cards and directx. I've also fiddled with the compatibility mode, deleted the gta set file in my documents., and so on. nothing really is making a difference.

I've deleted the mod i installed too, and it made no difference and then I uninstalled and reinstalled, and still nothing, still black...

I just dont get it , it was working fine before?

I can't belive that the game works on a 900Mmz processor

 

• Un-install the game
• Delete the C:/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas folder
• Re-install the game
• Check if there are any more driver updates and insall them
• Delete the gta_sa.set file

And play

The Athlon processor might be compensating for the remaining minimum frequency requirement. A Pentium III with similar frequency wouldn't work I think.
