Jabhacksoul
Hello Everyone, This is a question for some of the expert modders, is there a guide or tut on how to convert the PEDS anywhere? I have been looking but I can't find a thing on this. This is my first two converts and it took a long time to figure out and they are not done to my satisfaction. Ok you can see the visual problems with the conversion the breaks, the odd postions of the limbs, etc.. What really sucks is all the time it takes bouncing in and out of GTA III just to find you have a mess to clean up. Any help is appreciated. My process is using the Zmodeler to snag the peds out of my VC and then I have to slice them up and add the parts in the heirarchy. Next is the long drawn out process of going though each limb and setting the local axis to work correctly with the models. This is actually tougher than the cars! Jabhacksoul
pics aint working Sorry about that they were uploaded but the hosting source seems to have deleted them. All my other pics are still there just these 5 images were missing. And I know they were there otherwise I couldn't have linked to them. Oh well there are plenty of places to upload images to so I hope these will stay put!! If not I might have to get tough.
Claude GTA3
I think the original wireframe meshes could be kept,IF somebody would modify the animations.
Jabhacksoul
I think the original wireframe meshes could be kept,IF somebody would modify the animations. You are talking about the ped.ifp file? I first got the idea to populate Liberty City with some more colorful peds from VC but then I found out they changed the way they did the mesh. I am not complaining -in fact- they should have done them that way from the beginning. But really all I am trying to do is perfect the method of converting GTA III peds and VC peds. Now with #4 coming out I see we have FINGERS not the oven mits. I have been working helping my brother texture his hi-poly mods for his movies, but I really know and believe that texture is 90% of what makes a model look good no matter the number of verts. Some people may disagree but IMHO the games are go overboard with more and higher poly models they should focus on game play and storyline. But I don't mind the hires models. You have any experience with the SA peds or even the player?
rebel_36
no need to modify anims, youre pivots are just misplaced or have wrong rotation have you tried importing the original gta3 whore model and then copying its pivot positions onto the limbs of your vc girl? thatd give you a good start, would then just have to move those around a little to fit the mesh a little better
Jabhacksoul
I totally agree. You have any experience with the SA peds or even the player? Afraid not, I only have SA for the Xbox not the PC version yet. I most likely will pick up a copy after the holiday. *OT My bro has PS3 and I can hardly wait to get GTA 4 but I was wondering why no PC version is announced? Only 360 and PS3. Do you think they don't want us modding it?

The big prob is I adjust the pivot (local axis) and have to rerun the program over and over. It only takes a few seconds to load but then I have to run around looking for my model, take screenshots, exit, tweak and repeat. A LOT of work. For some reason no two peds are the same in GTA III the local axis are all over the place, like some monkey was paid to glue them together. But I am trying something real new to me. My brother uses blender a lot... I found in the tutorials on here some one made a import/export tool. I am playing with that and if I come up with a quick and dirty method for this I will keep you posted.
rebel_36
they only use blender cause it supports skeletons which zmod doesnt, so theres no reason to use it for gta3 characters i dont understand what youre doing with rerunning zmod and taking screens, all you need to do is to have your vc ped in zmod, then file/merge the default gta3 whore in, use the local axis copy too to copy all the pivot positions onto your vc ped, delete all gta3 whore objects and export the vc ped and test ingame, it should be moving correctly, you may only need to move the pivots around a little but at least all the rotations should be ok which is the most dificult part
