[GTA Man]cycon77foamy[GTA Man]
AP - Borat is dead. Sacha Baron Cohen has told Britain's The Daily Telegraph that he is retiring the clueless Kazakh journalist, as well as his alter ego, aspiring rapper Ali G. "When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing," the 36-year-old actor-comedian says in the newspaper's Friday edition. "It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it's fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I 'get' with Borat again, so it's a kind of self-defeating form, really." Baron Cohen brought Borat Sagdiyev - an anti-Semitic buffoon in search of Pamela Anderson - to the masses last year with his smash comedy film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. He first introduced the character on Da Ali G Show. "It's much easier for me to be in character and it's a lot more fun," he says. "If I'd done the entire promotional campaign for (the 'Borat' movie) as myself it wouldn't have developed in the same way." Baron Cohen - not Borat - can be seen as a singing barber in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, co-starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Source It's a shame Loved the movie. I wasn't a big Borat fan until i saw the film. But its still sad to see him go.

manofpeace
Saw this a little bit ago. Frankly, I don't care as long as the movie is still available on HDDVD.
Hayden Stasven
Yeah he's a good actor, he's done plenty of roles (I liked the creepy french guy in Talladega Nights). Whatever does him well, it's his choice.
Torcidas
What do you expect? I knew he was gonna retire Borat sooner or later, now with the movie's success, who hasn't heard of Borat? I can't really see him being any other character, unless he invents yet another genius one yet again.

If it's like the Ali G movie(like a normal movie, no hidden cam type stuff like Borat) it's gonna suck ass.
Hayden Stasven
the bruno movie is due for release next year. I hope it's funny. Thanks for posting that video, it looks funny. I'm guessing the character Bruno is a gay guy in the Southern U.S. It's a bit of a touchy subject but after watching Borat I think it's one of his less offensive roles. Groovy
Damn...this sucks, I was hoping to see Borat 2. I'm glad TBH. No way they could top the first one. It was go great seeing it opening night, completly packed house(200-300 people) everyone laughing their asses off. Now that everyone's been exposed to the character soo much, it just wouldn't have the same magic it had the first time.

Plus everyone and their mother now has their own attempt at a Borat impression, and it's gotten pretty overused.
TheTank
When I first read the topic title, I thought Sashas dead: "Aw, man! No way! " Well, this is better than that, but it still is a shame
Iminicus
King Julius is the best thing Sacha Baron Cohen ever did. Ali G, Borat, and Bruno got old too quickly. KING JULIUS!
DrPanini
Thank god, Borat was the biggest pile of sh*t I have ever seen and I actually paid to see it because I thought it would atleast be half decent.

Goodfella.
Now that everyone's been exposed to the character soo much, it just wouldn't have the same magic it had the first time. Not to mention the fact that now everyone knows who Borat is, it'd be f*cking hard to trick anybody. I'm really looking forward to Bruno though, assuming it's the same formula as Borat. I honestly don't think it'll ignite the box office the same way Borat did though. Seeing him travel through the 'fag-hatin' states exposing peoples intolerance would be amazing, though part of me thinks he wouldn't make it back alive. Kippers
I thought he's already given up with Borat to be honest. There's obviously no way he'd stay in character his whole life. He dose have his own appearance outside Borats suit. I'm surprised it's such a surprise. 習うより慣れろ

Guglielminpietro
It makes sense, as his characters depend on people thinking he's actually for real. There can't be many people on earth who don't know who Borat or Ali G are now. I'm sure he'll come up with new characters and guises before too long. soundcloud.com/TheDamnFineCoats

xstevex
I loved Da Ali G show and Ali G Inda House, but hated the Borat movie. I guess I was just tired of it way before the movie came along and it wasn't funny to me in the least. I still have hopes for the Bruno movie, but they aren't too high as of right now. YourNeighborhoodKiller
Hopefully they'll do something new, without the whole (gay) thing. But if they don't you can always watch Mr.Beans.
