Algonquin Assassin
If it was in Australia this guy should totally be the main character: Lol. Hahahaha "Harden the f*** up". Imagine if the next GTA were set in australia, and the protagonist said that to a Mafia boss? lol so your telling me no one talks like Paul Hogan, Steve Irwin, Olivia Newton John, etc No not everyone does. The media does a great job of exaggerating the way Australians really are. Hell if there was a GTA set in Australia, the uninformed would expect to see Kangaroos everywhere, which is not the case. Mafioso86
Hell if there was a GTA set in Australia, the uninformed would expect to see Kangaroos everywhere, which is not the case. yeah, well i always assumed kangaroos would be as common in australia as deer are in america... you might see them once in awhile in a rural area or park, but not in cities. Actually brings me to another question about australia (sorry for hijacking this topic... but you guys have sparked my interest....), obviously there aren't kangaroos, emus, dingos and koalas running around your neighborhoods... but i mean here we have squirrels, possums, chipmunks, rats, groundhogs etc. I could be wrong but i'm thinking in australia all of the native land mammals are marsupials... so no rodents, right? I'm just wondering what fills the niche of squirrels and chipmunks... i suppose possums are marsupials, so do you see those or wombats and the like daily? visionist
Two Hands is a great Australian gangster film. I wanna see GTA in Gotham next, with all the highways snaking through the buildings thousands of feet up, and some really creepy gangs... that would Rock. ceedot
Well, people still do speak bogan. Lot's of people. Lot's of people also have that sort of Aussie accent. It's not like England, where everyone has the accent. I remember going to England and everyone had it, lol. Chopper is in Melbourne at the moment... Cops are pretty dirty here as well, recently it was found out a cop had used a patrol car to do burnouts.(lol) Heaps of good looking buildings here, old, new. Southgate's beautiful. Crown has flame pillars which go off every 10 minutes(f*cken awesome). f*ck I love this city. Rockstar, DO MELBOURNE!
Southside Dukes Ballas
They can still do a San Andreas Stories. For the next 2 GTAs if they follow the same pattern they did last gen then a GTA with a state based off of DC with Philly and B-More thrown in the mix would make an interesting state since all 3 of those cities are crime ridden and that could end the East Coast GTAs for awhile at least. Then after that they could either re do vice City or SA as the last GTA of the generation or have both of them in the same game in the time period they are released in with SA having more states maybe 2 new 1s and Vice city having more land and you can travel back and forth. Or another last GTA of this gen option would be to either take the GTA games to the south and do cities based of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Atlanta, The Carolinas, Virginia Beach, Dallas, Memphis or just do a Southern based State. Or they could take GTA out of the US and base them off foreign cities or states like Bolivia,Brazil, Rio De Janerio, somwhere in Italy, somewhere in England, a city based off Tokyo or Hong Kong. But since this gen will probably be the longest gen ever we probably see at least 3 more GTAs after 4 instead of 2 not to mention the PSP 2 will probably come out in a few years so R* could make all new GTAs on that and the PSP and they don't have to necisarily be Stories. I think by the PS3 and Xbox 720 we'll be able to have whole countries to traverse or maybe just a few states and probably by the end of that gen we might see the whole planet and then once we're able to go around the whole planet then GTA may start to get boring since once they make huge steps like thats it'll seem like a downgrade to do cities or states again so then GTA may be running dry. But we have about 8 or 9 main GTAs left and 5 or 6 side GTAs like the Stories until GTA is dried up. I also forgot to mention cities like Detorit, St. Louis, Chicago etc are still ripe for a GTA not to mention some people still want a Carcer City. ceedot
I really wouldn't mind Vice City and San Andreas again, since they based them on really good cities. They also mixed them well. But I still want a GTA based on Melbourne, I think it might seem weird at first, but Rockstar could show it off good easily.
Vince_ThePhoenix
I'm thinking of a GTA V with Salvatore Leone playing as the main protagonist. It could take place in the 1970's in Chicago perhaps...

69th Street Diner Owner
Great idea's everybody I especially like the Salvatore as a main character in Chicago in the 70's. Maybe they could name the city something like Garden City because Chicago's motto is "Urbs in Horto", which is Latin for "City in a Garden". However, R* has virtually eliminated all past characters so Salvatore is out, but I still like the Chicago theme. Take a for all your great idea's Edit: Another great idea: Boston I'm from there and I live there and I think it would be a great idea. Perhaps the protagonist could be a low level hood in the Irish mob (maybe there could be some connections to the Irish mob that's going to be in IV) who eventually works his way up the ranks, but won't make don (maybe he could level off a Capo, because he's not family). And as for the city perhaps it could be called something like Patriot City (I know it's kinda corny, but come up with something better and tell me about it! ) Edited December 22, 2007 by 69th Street Diner Owner

ieatyourface
If Rockstar changed GTA's setting dramatically, I do believe it will be set in Japan. Why Japan? There is probably a million better places. I don't even know of any major crime in Japan besides Yakuza. And somehow I don't think they're particularly frightening. *Clutch*
My thought is In Russia- maybe moscow or St-Petersburg. It would be awesome there are so cold and cool atmosphere and they really could use that in game. The peoples, cars=old ladas from 70s still driving in the streets, crime is high, mafia , and all the other things would make it look wery awesome, and it all could be set in nowdays. (Yakuza)
Japan and Hong Kong would be reasonable. Both of them have a huge underworlds syndicates running wild and expanding world wide. In Japan the Yakuza can expose themselves without worrying about the local Law enforcment. They arent a secret society like the italian-american mafia or the triads. In fact they could be simple businessman and still be apart of that organization. The Yakuza are a business organization that are involved in organized crime. Enterprise07
IF - and I say this with a big ???? Rockstar go back to London for GTA V or a spinoff of IV it would rock. Another alternative would be something like Chicago - They could play on 'The Windy City' thing, maybe 'Storm City'? Lake Michigan could also be included - named Lake Mishigashi! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Michigan). I'm pretty sure they could do something with the John Hancock Centre aswell..... MysteryGamer
I'm thinking of a GTA V with Salvatore Leone playing as the main protagonist. It could take place in the 1970's in Chicago perhaps... Nice idea. I have been thinking that there has been no Grand Theft Auto title based in the 1970's era yet. Of course Rockstar may create a modern re-creation of Vice City or San Andreas which could be quite amazing, using the RAGE engine. By the way Japan would be a good location visually I think, but (and I may be wrong here) I believe Japan has a fairly low crime rate there. Lifestyles of The Cool
Nice one enterprise07 (lol) Hey mystery, Toyko or Hong Kong would be beuatiful on the RAGE engine. Yakuza or Triads!?
T.I.P.
Melbourne They should do Melbourne, and the surrounding area, just like they did LA in San Andreas. They could call it "GTA: Garden State". haha Yeah, or "GTA: Lord of the Rings" or "GTA: Star Wars" or "GTA: I, Robot". I think that might be considered copyright infringement. I wouldn't mind seeing Melbourne, though. But I think the thing that makes these games so intriguing is that it's the US crime atmosphere. I think if they really wanted to do something innovative with the next game it could be a series of smaller (about one SA city) cities around the world that you could fly to. Maybe each of them could have different climates and atmospheres. Cancun, Barcelona, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, etc. Not too many, but a few. Just an idea. Slamman
I don't know if many of you do the same, but as you rewatch the trailers, do you feel differently about opinions you had had about actual Gameplay? I am thinking this latest GTA may introduce us to a new modus operandi of going about business with regard to missions. I think open-ended aspect will be most similar to games past, but it's hard to get a handle on how much new technique we may have to get used to. I'm more concerned with the present GTA4 as it pertains to a long 'play cycle' before the next round
RaverRyan
I'm guessing they will do another 'san andreas'. Not set it in san andreas exactly, although I wouldn't mind, but yeh, a much better improved SA, with all the detail that would be in GTA4. And why not? Technology expands, so why can't GTA?
