Usherber
What happens is that whenever the territory is lost or unchecked, etc. The territory becomes in a neutral state. This meaning that both GSF and Ballas/Vagos own the territory. Now, there's a positive thing and a negative thing .Positive coz' the territory is still yours, negative beacuse you'll never lose territory it only becomes a neutral state, but a Gang War can be still activated there. Hope this helped you understand. Usherber

!!GC!!
This probably wont help but there must be a way to lose territory to Ballas and Vagos and such cos there was a guy on here last month i think asking how you lose the Grove Street territory cos he had given all other terrritories to the Ballas, and the areas actually did go purple. So i dont know how but there must be a way
Usherber
Yeah, the areas go purple, only that they have a Purple-Greyish colour. It happened to me once for the most SW territory. I failed it and it became purple(well it was already purple)-greyish and on another one the turf became Green-Greyish, and when I went to attack those places both Ballas and GSF were there. Oh and you lose territory this way, only that GSF still appear there. Edited December 20, 2007 by Usherber
xNamexTakenx
That's weird. I never knew this could happen. Whenever one of my 'hoods are under attack, and I'm not there to do anything about it, it just says like that! And when I save the game, the GSF still control that area. It's weird. What if you go to the area under attack so that they appear as individuals (you have to get quite close for that to happen) - and you then run away and do nothing or even let them kill you? Usherber
Never did that. I'll try it myself tomorrow. But I think that you'll have to go back and win/lose the territory, and if you let them kill you, the massage "You lost the war(?)/you left the attack unchecked. You lost influence" message. HisHighness
ive tried going into the turf under attack and deliberatley letting them kill me..after you die and then taken out front of hospital you look on the map and your hood will still stay that greyish color so im pretty sure you cannot lose a hood at worst it will become neautral containing both gangs of that territory. Steve That is really good thinking, someone definetly needs to try this. I wonder if it would say some thing like "You didnt defend your territory, you lose influence." @HisHighness Yes you can lose territory completly, when it goes neutral the opposing gang will attack it again and then it will go there colour, it just takes a while and a lot of losing battles/wars
Ray Carter
I looked through the forums for a topic to answer my question and found this. I hope you don't mind me asking here I have completed SA with all teritories under control. But gangs still roam around non-grove turf. Will they ever try to take back the turf, Like around Unity Station area? I thought i remember seeing something about this, it would say something like 'Your Teritory Is Under Attack' without attacking any other gang first.. xNamexTakenx
That gang that controls Unity Station is the Varrios Los Aztecas. They won't attack your territory, and you can't start a gang war with them. The only gangs that are a real threat to the Grove Street Families are the Los Santos Vagos and Ballas - once they're out of the picture, nobody should attack your 'hoods. The Varrios aren't enemies of the GSF, nor are they exactly allies. But, they'll still attack your gang. If you look on the map, they don't have a colour for their area. Gangs could attack your turf, too. You'll just have to waste them so that the 'hood will remain yours. Or else, the 'hood will be controlled with both your gang and the opposing gang. I've tried to ignore gang attacks and every attack on the same territory make it moke grayer. And after 5(?) attacks territory becomes completly Grove lol. It becomes bright green again. Sad, cuz i'd love to be shooted while drive by.
