javi13
The bump mapping works fine on my game, i have a geforce 7600GT 256MB. Also, does anyone know how to get this to work in SA-MP? ikt
Nothing really, just put the files in your GTA SA folder and start up SA-MP, should work fine... If not, check your ASI loader... I have this version. may be a bit different, but as far as i know its acaxtly same. http://cleo.sannybuilder.com/ (Only get the Vorbisfile.dll and the vorbishook.dll) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057388656 Share on other sites
Darecki
Dexx, is possible to make car (and other dynamic) shadows a bit softer? They have very sharpy edges and it doesn't look good... nabo45
Dexx, is possible to make car (and other dynamic) shadows a bit softer? They have very sharpy edges and it doesn't look good... For cars, you have to tweak the shadow model, located in the DFF using a 3d program. For other objects with dynamic shadows, i think you have to tweak the COL file. I dont know exacly about that though. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057389283 Share on other sites
Darecki
But editing the car's shadow only changes the shape of shadow.. Edges will stay sharpy... Look at this pic: I mean that softer shadow edges will look much better than standard SA shadows Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057389347 Share on other sites
javi13
Try putting Anti Aliasing up to 8x. They aren't like that for me. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057390392 Share on other sites

DexX
Dexx, is possible to make car (and other dynamic) shadows a bit softer? They have very sharpy edges and it doesn't look good... That's a side effect of the stencil shadow method. There is no "fix" as long as you use that shadow system. In SA if you want real shadows, that's the only "real" shadow system available for non-pedestrian objects. Try putting Anti Aliasing up to 8x. They aren't like that for me. ...assuming his card supports that level of AA at a playable frame rate. Anyway, it's only smoothing the very tip of the shadows, they're still hard edged overall. [CTD]LaBan
Try putting Anti Aliasing up to 8x. They aren't like that for me. Softer shadows are one of the DX10 features. DexX
LaBan,Jan 8 2008, 05:07] Try putting Anti Aliasing up to 8x. They aren't like that for me. Softer shadows are one of the DX10 features. I think that it's not possible in dx9 No. Shadow algorithms and techniques are determined more by the shader models, than the api version. "Soft shadows" are fully doable in directx9 with sm3. Darecki
Shadows like in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (I haven't seen Double agent yet) will look great in SA But Dexx.. ? Ped shadows are generated from its models.. I think, i don't know exactly (in resolution i.e. 256x256 from your mod). So maybe it's posssible to generate car shadows like ped shadows? If ped has those shadows.. that why car doesn't? Gta Sa graphic is really weird... Darecki
This shadows are the same IMO.. I have darken shadows becouse I'm using gostown's dll, and the shadows looks more sharpy. But.. gostown's .dll makes shadows a bit darker, so maybe it's possible to make it a bit softer? (it's only my idea, I don't know how to do that ) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057393864 Share on other sites

Darecki
Nooo, the shadows are always the same I just think about new shading in game Btw. why dynamic models have different shading system than peds... nabo45
So what you're saying is that you want the shadows to be more blurry yes? ikt
I have a question: What is does HDR actually do? Bloom makes things look cooler, tried it myself by making my glasses dirty and looking at bright objects, but HDR only makes evrything lighter? Like, making the contrast and brightness higer.. DexX
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_rendering and to quote something from that article; Light bloom Main article: Bloom (shader effect) Light blooming exaggerates a bright spot in a scene. For example, a bright light in the background will appear to bleed over onto objects in the foreground. This is used to create an illusion to make the bright spot brighter than it really is. That is what i'm doing. I'm not implementing a full HDR lighting system. Wikipedia->Bloom Progress is....slow. i need a break every now and then, and right now i'm taking one. Plus i think it's time i did a reformat/reinstall, since my box is acting silly. like, refusing to boot, and saying certain windows files are corrupt, silly. which reminds me, i better make backups, like right now.. Make backups of your personal files And then try re-installing Windows (or whatever you use). You can also try to clean up your computer with some tools, i tried it and now is working faster. Well, booting up is still teh same, but shutting down is waaaay faster now Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057414707 Share on other sites
CHILLI
I've noticed that this mod is using a 3D render image. but though it's hardcoded(?) but that source code will that work to add 3D render images?cuz I think I want 3D rendered tires, that rubber part. or could you be nice making it in the next update? I have no idea what you're talking about. 3d render image...? I looked for some stuff about "3D shading" and I noticed it's called bump mapping... so if I right my wrongs my request thing would be: could you add bump mapping to the defualt wheel textures of the cars in SA? like you did with the body chrome. I would love that, it should give is a lot more realistic look of the boring flat tire textures. I hope you understood that DexX ^^ and keep up with the bloom effect too Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057419313 Share on other sites

CHILLI
I have a problem.here is a pic of it: notice the lines on the side of this car.its like some squers are turning on cars surface or sth like that.i dunno if this is my problem or not .help me plz. I know how to make that reflections gone, but then the specular shading wont become that obvious to notice in the game. if you look close you can still see it's shaded, but not that much. but if you want to remove the new refctions, just rename/delete the pipeline.asi thing. ^^ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057424021 Share on other sites
ehsan_zt
I think I didn't explain it well. on the side of the car u see the reflection map or whatever it is ,is splited (notice the lines on the side) and it doesnt look nice. It is like using a texture that is not tiled in a game so the edges of that texture will be visible in game . I wonder if it is my problem or u guys have the same problem(effect) . my graphic card is geforce 6200 128mb Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/303855-alphatest-sa-gfx/page/9/#findComment-1057424676 Share on other sites
