World Of Warcraft Broke My Friend's Monitor!

My friend downloaded WoW from the internet last night and he's become obsessed. That's not the issue here though, as since he quit it to check his e-mails, he found that his whole screen had been flipped 90 degrees, and we've had to flip his monitor on it's side. We've trawled through the monitor settings and the screen resolution settings, but to no avail. Can anybody be of assistance please?

There's a setting on my Radeon card that allows you to flip the screen 90 180 270 degrees. So, what is his card?

Er, I'm not sure... confused.gif Sorry, I didn't think of getting hold of his specs, I just assumed it was a simple problem. Sorry.

Molten Metal 420

My computers at school can do that. You press I think Alt+the directional key (up for normal, right for 90 degree rotation, down for 180, left for 270). I'm not positive if its Alt, it might be Ctrl+Alt+directional key, or shift+ctrl, or shift+alt, sorry I cant really remember. But it wouldnt hurt to try those combinations. Hope that helps.

Definitely. If he has some horrible Intel Extreme graphics then it is a default hotkey that comes with the driver.

On laptops you can usually do this with Fn+ (key). You should check his video card settings. On nvidia you can change it from tray icon.

Try to reset the monitor to the factory defaults by going inside it's own main menu.

If that doesn't work, then uninstall/reinstall your video card drivers.

ctrl+alt+up arrow

I got a call from a lady that had this problem. Her cat walked across the keyboard and it flipped on it's side.

After laughing for about 10mins I told her how to fix it.

I'd supposedly think now that using the "Last Known Good Configuration" or "System Restore" seem like it's going to fix this problem.

No, its a feature in almost all Graphics Card Drivers, god knows why, but its just a thing you can click to turn it back, no need to reinstall, ad if it kept the settings when you uninstall, it would still be weird tounge.gif

Although, to give you a point, Reinstalling your Drivers does help ALOT of problems.

I have that feature too in my ATi Catalyst Control Center. However, I do not set hotkeys up. So it's kinda weird why the thread starter set up hotkeys for his computer and doesn't know why his screen flipped over after someone plays WoW, considering the amount of buttons that have to be pressed.

ctrl+alt+up arrow

What will the character do in WoW after pressing that combination?

My nVidia drivers on Vista have a hotkey setup automatically when you enable them, it annoyed the hell out of me when i used to play WoW

And ctrl+alt+up arrow does nothing in WoW if I can remember correctly, but I haven't played since the 2.1.0 patch (Now up to 2.3.0)
