[REL|FINAL] High Quality/HD GTA Cars

Recommended Posts

I don't like it the way it is now.

It looks like as if you just applied meshsmooth modifier on the original body mesh... Which only results it looking retardedly round all over the place, not a single detail or sharp corner anywhere.

And then the underbody and engine... The exhausts are way off. They come out of the oil pan and only have two crazily oversized fartcan mufflers that would actually prevent any suspension movement on the very solid-looking rear axle. (Solid as in not having independant suspension.)

And then you don't use an axle between the front wheels at all... And the brake discs are smaller than the bottom of a coke bottle...

And the engine air intake is wrong. Air filter from a 70s yank tank would probably be a bit too restricting in a supposedly fast sports vehicle.

I do like the interior though.. Looks detailed enough, though a bit boring on the design.

Id like to say I know what you mean by all that stuff, but I don't. smile.gif

The engine and undercarriage were just thieved straight from SA. I kindof get bored when it comes to making engines and stuff you hardly see.

yes, all that would be a problem, if he was building a real car. but hes not, so for the love of god, get off his back

How can you give something thats supposed to be completely smooth more detail? bored.gif

The disc brakes need to be bigger and thinner.

The engine and the underbody are a bit plain, but the body is awesome.

Please post a wireframe and poly count

I have a solution to the disc brake problem.

put wheels over them, oh there, now we never ever see them in game.

Ill post wire frame in a bit, the poly count is around 10,000 right now.

No,please, the disc brakes look awesome on those 3spoke wheels.

I am in no way a modeler, so I actually have no right to speak. Still ...

OP, I noticed the wheel axles are relatively long. I've had several problems in SA with cars that have such long axles, mainly when putting wheels on them which have a center point that isn't level with the outside of the rim (I'm mainly thinking about Ducati996's wheel pack and a few NFSMW rims). This happened with stock GTA-SA cars as well as with modded cars.

Shortening those axles (or making them transparent if they are needed for wheel alignment) could prevent this from happening and shouldn't be too much work for someone with your skills.

Just a suggestion, even though I haven't got a clue how these things work. I tried modeling, but gave up after recreating a front fender for a Countach LP5000s and finding out it looked more like the rear bumper from a 1989 Miata.

Oh cut the crap. What's the point of calling these HD if they're really not?

It doesn't take much of an effort to fix the stuff I pointed out, and it would leave you with a way more believable vehicle... Check the other HD car topic for example. Myster92 made the underbody somewhat properly, and yes, you can see those details quite often ingame since most of you crash and flip the cars every now and then.

And how to add more details? Well... First you could put back the original detail you took off it. Where the hell did the body lines and doorhandles go for example? And the hole in the front bumper looks way too round... Or smooth, as you would call it. It's just something you wouldn't see IRL. A totally "smooth" looking car with no sharp edges only looks boring and as if it was all molded from one huge piece of plastic... And ingame it gives an impression of adding meshsmooth modifier over a badly made base mesh.

leik oh em jeez!

would you idiots get off of his back and stop complaining, the body doesn't have any sharp lines because that's the way the car was designed by rockstar. and the hole in the front was all blocky because rockstar made it insanely low-poly, that's not onepiece's fault. Yell at rockstar about the design of the car.

Now, Onepiece, the banshee is looking exelent, although I would suggest not using the SA exhaust, maybe just make a pipe on each side that bends up and over the rear axle, it looks much more realistic like that.

Bumper, he's making HD versions of Rockstars Cars! Not actual cars. You know, so they still fit in with the games feeling but look soo much f*cking better.

yeah, myster92 isn't really doing that, the cars he's making don't even look like the original GTA cars, they look more like real cars, onepiece is just making higher poly GTA cars.

exactly so stop complaining!!oh and great job on the banshee one peice

Well isn't that the point?

Making the cars look believable?

And to me it looks like he isn't doing them highpoly. Looks like a simple "Apply meshsmooth" -job to me, except for the interior.. And doing it this way does not look good.

@leik oh em jeez! - I did not mean he should make it blocky. Having a bit sharper edge doesn't mean making it low poly or blocky... Or razor sharp. Just a bit sharper. And I'm not complaining about the design.. It's just that it's actually lost some of its' details after Onepiece's treatment. And calling someone an idiot for giving feedback isn't really smart. Nobody's never going to improve at anything without feedback.

When will you stop complaining? OnePiece did a great job on those cars, and your only response is; Bad mesh-smooth job, and ugly interiour. Thats not very constructive, if you wanna help him. Give him some criticism he can use, or just stop posting.

Beautiful cars OnePiece, keep up the great work! I really love the shape of the Banshee, it looks awesome, smooth. Everything a car needs, not it just needs a great interiour to top it all of with. Mayby some brown leather?

First of all, I didn't call the interior bad... I actually think I said I like it, because it's got what the rest of the car is missing: details! And if I didn't, I'll say it now: I do like the interior. It's well modelled, and will look even better with some decent textures.

And how can I say my opinion more clearly? It DOES look as if the body had meshsmooth on it because it's all round everywhere and all the body lines that existed before are gone. Of course it's still WIP, and he may be just getting to that, but that's what it seems like now.

But yeah, since I'm not sure whether OnePiece has better reading skills than the rest of you, I'll make a list of what I think should be improved to call this real HD:

-The engine.. Not much, just put some roundness there and make some more modern looking air intake system... No big deal, and if you want to make this real easy for yourself, you can put in some covering plastic panels they use in many modern cars.

-Exhausts. Some simple exhaust headers would add a lot, and as somebody else mentioned, making them go OVER the rear axle and resizing the mufflers would improve the looks a lot.

-Remove the axle between front wheels. It's unrealistic, and this so isn't a big job. Select it and hit delete, no big deal. I'm not even asking for you to model any proper suspension setup. confused.gif

-Needs bigger brake discs, since it is after all a sportscar. Once again such a simple thing to fix. Oh, and throw in some simple brake calipers too.

-Cut some door, bonnet, boot, bumper -lines in the body, so you can tell where a new part starts and other ends... This is probably the thing that makes it appear so simple to me!

-Details! Yeah, this is what I've been crying for... Here's my little short wishlist:

-doorhandles

-some detail into the soft-top cover...

-a center rear-view mirror.. You know the one attached to the windscreen.

Oh and can we soon get a picture of the rear?

edit: Since Marfi asked: Apart for the door/etc. lines I already stated, it could have some sharper bend under the doors, since the paint barely ever goes that deep down under like that. Oh and the wheel arches could also have a kind of "lip" around them... Aaand the lights. I know they're a very round shape, but making the "corner" that is closest to the wheel arch a bit sharper would (IMO) give the car a bit sharper look... Just look at the GTA3 version of the Banshee, it actually has some slight sharpness there... That's what I'm on about!

People like you really annoy me, the car was designed without any sharp body lines, that's just the way it is. It's not supposed to be based off a real car, it is a more realistic GTA car. Myster92 was basing his cars off of real cars, like his sentinel was supposed to look like a bmw. And there is a difference between complaining about something because you don't like it, and offering constructive critisism to help.

Seriously dude,OnePiece said it himself,Meshsmooth is for gays,he made the cars 100% from scratch.

Okay, let's cut the crap about meshsmooth then.

Now, let OnePiece read the rest of my post, as I did talk about other stuff too.

@leik oh em jeez! - People like you annoy me too, so we're good. I'll try to explain the bumper hole sharpness-dilemma once again:

Now that it has no visible border it actually affects the normals on a large area around it. If the author added one row of vertices around the hole, it would keep it's original smoothness and roundess, but the area around it would have better normals that aren't so much affected by the hole. And better normals always means better reflections ingame.

edit: Note to the author. If you're working on 3ds max, The chamfer tool is the cure... Unless of course you insist keeping it the way it is now... Which is okay with me, just giving my view.

Edited by Bumper3D
leik oh em jeez!

there's not supposed to be a border there, so just stfu, ok? I mean really, niether of us is helping right now so let's both just shut up, and let onepiece model his cars the way he wants without everyone complaining about it.

Make up what?

I never wanted to go personal with anyone, and never wanted to insult anyone in the first place...

I'm waiting for updates just as eagerly as you are, just to see if any of my nagging paid off. tounge.gif

If it didn't, I might as well shut up for good.

Bumper has made some pretty amazing models himself, one would assume that if he takes the time to give a bit of feedback, it would be the very reason one would be posting in here in the first place - to get feedback from the pros/our peers.

The first time I posted here, I was oh-so-excited to show off my new vice city player model... and was so cocky about the fact I'd worked out armatures and parenting in the model hierarchy. What I neglected to care about, was the model I'd used was just an alien head whacked on Tommy, without any effort on connecting vertices at the neck, even.

When people gave me this feedback, I was soo precious about my achievements, and the hard work they'd required, that I forgot to take feedback as I'd set out to get it... and flamed back at people that were just doing what we're all here to do... share our opinions and experience. I'm lucky/glad I came back after that flame, and wasn't banned... trick was, motivation for doing all this stuff shouldn't be people's comments.. but they can be used as motivation to go even further alien.gif

Awesome work on these HD cars mate - I've been loving that HD bullet in my game more than just about any other car I've installed. I think many of us prefer to install the real life equivalents/HD cars than something totally different to the vehicle we're replacing, so I'm sure many will love your work. The HQLM was a good thing, too - glad I installed it.

Can't wait for more HD cars.

Good lord, whats gone on in this thread since I went to sleep? I'm not going to put hours of effort into making the underbody realistic when you see it for about 5 seconds after it flips and before it blows up making is so black you cant tell whats on it, I seriously just cant be bothered. The axles, engine, exhaust pipe and mufflers were all ripped from rockstars models and then retextured, so go complain to them about making an unrealistic car in the first place. If you don't like it, don't download it, its not like I'm employed by you guys, I do this for myself to get my skills up.

And there weren't any door handles on the original, just like on the real dodge viper, so I;m not going to add them, and yes, there is as rear view mirror, Ive basically finished the model now since I last posted a picture, hopefully I can just finish it and get back to the Kuruma.

Thats not what I'm saying, I like criticism, but I'm only going to go ahead with the criticism and change things If I agree with it.

Ok, here are some pictures of it textured
