GTA3Freak-2001
I would love to play this, if it is everything that people tell it is. I just need to find it. You won't find it illegally, if thats what you meant. Well not here on these forums, its out there and was out there within hours of the early release showing how useless EA's DRM system really is in trying to stop pirating. AbSoLuTiOn
I'm hopefully going to be getting this tomorrow, i was wondering if a few of you guys could give me a mini-review, maybe containing good points, bad points and generally, what to expect in the gameplay. I had been following the game, but a few weeks back i lost track of it.

Otter
No. Kill 'em all. Hunt the closest creature species to you until you get about 100 or so food in the bank before you go raiding, just incase things go south and you need to pump out some babies really fast. NO MERCY!!!!!

Couldn't agree more, I was writing a paper last night and at 10ish I was like, "I'm gonna take a spore-break for an hour, make a new creature..." It was definitely 2 am when I realized the time, finished the paper at 4, turned it in at 7, oohh yeah. Thanks spore.
SWEETSAPRIK
Man, I suck at the Tribal stage... Any advice? (I haven't got any further...) I went with a combination of Otter's and freak2121's advice. I killed everything I came across until I got to the space stage, but fishing is a very easy and quick way to get food. Especially since it's kinda automated, you can send a bunch of guys to go fish in a pinch, or you can have like three or so fishing and delivering constantly. I really didn't care for any of the early stages, but the space stage was worth the wait. I just wish I had more time to explore in between pirate raids, grok attacks, and eco-disasters. Also, I was kinda disappointed to come across distant cousins from the same species as me. Especially when they started a war with the first group of people I ever made friends with. Kinda wish there was an option to make it so you never saw any members of your race that weren't you. PяopagaиdaIиc.
Otter
I'm surprised not many people enjoy the cell stage as much as I did; I thought it was a blast. I'm sorta thinking about grabbing Creatures for the DS, as well.

I'm sorta thinking about grabbing Creatures for the DS, as well. I loved the cell stage. Had a blast with it, and I certainly wish it would've lasted longer. I believe I was through with it within 15-30 minutes on medium difficulty. I seem to be having issues with space now. I collect missions, but find myself absolutely lost when attempting to figure out where I've got to go. Any good tips ? Or am I just stupid and missing something? I collect missions, but find myself absolutely lost when attempting to figure out where I've got to go. Any good tips ? Or am I just stupid and missing something? I tend to only do missions when I have to, like to make somebody happy enough to set up a trade route or form an alliance so I can get their ship in my fleet. I progressed pretty far just by exploring, setting up colonies, increasing their T score, trading spice, etc. It's a bit easier to find the planets they want you to do something on that way, as they light up with a little icon. It's almost impossible to find anything otherwise once the area you've seen spans a few hundred systems. Also, I thought the grox were annoying when they were just raiding the planets of my allies. Once I got to the point in the game were they give you that "stars closer together, harder to avoid gravity wells" explanation for why you're going to lose distance on your drive, the Grox were everywhere. I mean not only are they pretty much a ripoff of the borg (storywise), but they also seem to control an absolute sh*tload of planets. Click to travel to a planet and there's already a bunch of their ships coming to destroy your fleet. and there really isn't a way around them, at least not that I saw. I guess I should've waited until I unlocked more tools/weapons/etc before popping around through wormholes and such. (edit) Another thing I didn't even think of Duke. When you're around a star (not in an atmosphere or around a planet), there are these little yellow icons where the Radar/T-Score thing usually is. One of them is "Mission" which should point you to the planet you're supposed to be doing something with. Also there is the paths you've taken between stars recently, your empire, other empires, friends/allies, and the planets you've visited. For some reason not all the planets I've visited show up. I'm not sure if it's because I've visited so many, or if it's just because they're so far apart that the ones off at the ends don't display. Edited September 12, 2008 by Sweets PяopagaиdaIиc. Loman
Anyone interested in Modding Spore, should check out SPview (http://customsims3.com/forum1/YaBB.pl?num=1215285997)! It's pretty sweet, you can edit some config files so that Grox attacks, pirate raids, and eco -disasters happen less frequently or not at all (which is great for people who just want to terraform), and this is just the begining, I hope. The only downside is you have to start a new game for the effects to be applied. Here is my favorite spaceship that I've made, Voyager from Star Trek (yes, I'm a geek) http://www.isarapix.org/pix11/1221283842.png

Ah you know I never even thought about just going out and exploring. Seemed to work much better when I stuck with that. However, I did pull up the info tab for the mission (the 3 circles underneath the brief explanation) and that actually stated the star system I needed to look for. Unfortunately though, I'm not really enjoying space that much. I really like the civilization stage the best. I guess I just need to let space grow on me. Otter
I don't know why people are getting annoyed with the DRM, if you like the game, why would you uninstall it? Well, in my case, it takes 3 minutes to even start booting the game. Not a gamebreaker, but a pain in the f*cking ass.
Loman
@ Pizza Guy: The DRM is pointless, because it is supposed to prevent piracy, but it only restricts people who actually bought the game. The pirates can install as many times as they want, but legitimate customers only get 3 installs before they have to call EA to get their permission to install again. I know it's usually a long time between installs, but you could buy a new hard drive, or have a HDD fail, or get a nasty virus, or need to reinstall windows for a variety of reasons. CrazeLaze
Yes! Wow I never knew about that, I've already installed the game 2 times (Had to reinstall windows recently) are you saying that if I install again, It will be my last. That sucks big time, someone should do something about that. That's not allowed that I might have to resort to a pirate copy later... Also Is that earth pic you posted real. Is it in the game? And how does that work anyway? Is the galaxy identical, to everyone elses copy? Playing the Space stage has made me thought. What happens when I finish the game, If I can finish it. Or would that spoil it if you told me. Edited September 22, 2008 by Goldey
GTA3Freak-2001
I don't know why people are getting annoyed with the DRM, if you like the game, why would you uninstall it? Well I got the game and installed it on my Vista Partition, the game would randomly crash all the time so placing the blame with Vista I tried installing it on my XP partition and surprise it worked flawlessly. So I've used two installs so far and that's just for technical reasons, what if say 12 months down the track I decide to play the game again. During this 12 months I've uninstalled Spore to save space, or I've installed new hardware that requires re-installing windows, or a virus that can't be removed requires a format or anything similar. I am stuffed after that . Anyway there's rumours that EA will be modifying or removing the DRM to make it not so drastic but who knows, oh well I am off to install the patch and hopefully enjoy Space! CrazeLaze
Erm, is there a way to see how many times you have installed and how does it record it? Does it send the CD-Key to EA via the Internet?

Yeah, It's real, I used the CapturePlanetGIF cheat to capture it. It's got the whole solar system (minus the "minor planets" and most of the moons). The moon and mars are almost completely flat, so they are great for terraforming. You can find it by moving your mouse over the spaceship on the progress bar to see your coordinates, and then fly to "Angle:225.06, Distance 7295.43" I think the galaxy is shared between saves, so if you colonize a system in one game, it's colonized in all. Also, for your last question: You can't really finish the space stage, just set goals, like "Get to the center of the galaxy" (which is the official end, I think) or "Defeat the Grox" (which is the hardest thing to do in the game). There are always missions from other empires, too.

Does it send the CD-Key to EA via the Internet? I don't think there is a way but from what I gather it either records it when it validates the Serial Number or when the game calls home to EA when you log-in to your account for the first time.
