Daniel Lamb Posted December 9, 2007 Share Posted December 9, 2007 Ok, I do not wish to say what username(s) I used before I got banned on this board, but my contributions through my previous account(s) are still on the forum and people are still replying to them. Recently, my newest account got banned, because jallar discovered that I was the same person that was banned 3-4 years back. Now, I don't get it, why doesn't the Administrators or Moderators on this Forum Board give us banned users a chance? Yes, we might have did something very wrong with our first account here. However, for some of us, me included, registered a new account and we followed the rules and contributed to the community. In my case, I have posted on this Froum with my newest banned account for a year already. Why must they still banned me? Also, I'm not alone. There are many who got banned because they got discovered by the Administrators or Moderators that they were the same user that was previously banned. Now, why not give us banned users a chance to get back on the Forums. You see, I'm a Hardcore, Die-Hard Grand Theft Auto fan. Even if you ban me, I'll still want to come back on as another username. Why will you not give me a chance? Well, did you guys ever realize by banning users, it might also take up lots of space on GTAForums' servers. Many users, without you staff even realizing it, might be the same users that got banned a few years ago. Well, why not let us come back onto the Forums instead? Well, if we come back onto the Forums but we still follow the rules, why do we deserve the ban. Why not give us a second chance? Why must we deserve life imprisonment? I mean, GTAForums is a nice place and all to discuss about the Grand Theft Auto series, as well as to chat. Yes, we were Busted! But, that doesn't mean we cannot stand back on our feet. Please remember that I'm not here to say, "Oh, I am 'XXXXX Banned Member' and I'm here to ask for people to vouch for me." No. I just want us banned users to have a second chance. You don't need to tell us, but the people who need to know have ways of finding out. Anyway, the thing is, staff on this forum give people second (and third) chances quite a bit. And nearly every time it comes back to bite them. Just recently a PBM that was allowed to come back was banned again for the same reason he was banned initially - being a tardmaster. The ting is doe - there is nothing to suggest over the internet that you won't do the same thing that got you banned in the first place. An admin or mod discovers you, it is their best interest to ban you again than risk you being banned by someone else and having them allow it. I am not only speaking for myself, but I have also discovered many similar cases. Even moderators or "good" netizens, have been banned. It also makes the whole board a mess, with lots of usernames and posts. I guess I will try to PM the moderator who banned me. More people seem to be getting second chances lately, though before long they usually tend to remind everyone why they were banned in the first place. Usually, being allowed back is a bit more likely if you find the staff member that originally banned you, and plead your case in private. PяopagaиdaIиc. If you follow the rules, you don't get banned. If you break the rules once here and there, you don't get banned. If you do enough to get banned, you deserve to have every duplicate account banned as well. This is you, right? A multiple account of many others that were initially banned for spamming up the place with links to your sh*tty imitation GTA site. In fact, each of your other accounts I've glanced at has had some reference to the site you spamvertised in its name. In its name. Meaning that your sole purpose to sign up was to advertise. It's not like you've been the model member on this account as you claim should cancel out your actions from "3-4 years back" (in reality just one year). In this post made only two weeks ago you again linked to your site which, funnily enough, spawned a couple of post reports identifying you as a previously banned member... Here, you're not even trying to pretend you're not a previously banned member, and again link to your site. Take it up with jallar if you must, but I can't see that getting anywhere. Unbanning members should be straight forward, we have had a little period of late where we let a few back, and we looked at their behaviour back on the forums, and to be honest we have re banned most of them. My sole purpose is not to advertise. You might have misunderstood my posts. Yes, I might have branded some of my posts with my website. My website isn't even a sh*tty GTA fan site. It is my blog. Yes, I'm a GTA fan, and I post things regarding to GTA, but it isn't an imitation site. It runs on WordPress and I created my own theme. Also, I write my own content. I don't copy them from GTANet. I only hotlink the images because my webhost doesn't allow me to upload so many images (many others do so too), and uploading so many of them to imageshack is also a pain in the ass. Besides, it increases GTANet's search engine ranking. Sorry if I was to rougue in promoting my site, but I want to make this clear: my site isn't a GTANet imitation site, and niether is it a GTA fan site. It is my personal gaming niche weblog. And no, it isn't sh*tty. It jsut doesn't mean that I am poor to afford a Top-Level domain anme or paid hosting, my site is sh*tty, ok? If it's sh*tty, I don't see why my weblog's posts gets referenced to in Reuters and USA Today's websites. Besides, my content is of a certain quality, and it is certainately way better than some GTA fan sites' content. GTANet is my source of news. Well, if I post the same thing as you, can you say it's imitation? Of course, you GTA fansites are entitled to information first hand from Rockstar Games, and I am not, that's the sole reason why I have to use GTA4.net as a news source. Well, I also must say this: Why must I pretend as who I ain't? I included my name and my blogs ite not in order to advertise, but to ensure nobody steals my images and claim it as their own fan art on Deviant Art or something. Can't I even protect my own rights? Also, after those two warnings I was given, I swear I never ever posted even a link to my blog for the purpose of advertising. It might seem as advertising, but it isn't, ok? Now, if I post a link to a YouTube video or a Google search page am I advertising for YouTube or Google? I guess not. Wow, I think you guys really think that every single link on the internet is an advertisement. I am also not posting a link to a porn site. Why is it even against the rules? (ive read everypost) you shuld just leave for good i understand that it may be unfortunate, but you have been doing spamvertizing, its all pretty much blatant advertising of your site! Im pretty sure that like me, you can post links if it a question about your site, or if it directly backs up an important bit of info! But u cant just post links cos u want to! Sorry but my help is not going to happen with u if you have been banned numerous times cos of advertising!! also your old custom text was your url! there is a spot for your URL!!! Just as a note to any banned members - the lenient policy is gone, it has failed over and over again, and so no banned members will be unbanned or allowed to come back under a new name. The only exception would be an honest mistake, accidentally banning the wrong person, etc, and I can't remember that happening any time in the past.
