Gta_sa.exe error

[GTAPS2]

The game plays logos and titles and later after the logos a message appears saying encountered an error and the error is H:\Documents\(my name)\~local~\temp\d43c_appcompact.txt any one know this problem.

 

my computer is

AMD Athlon 64 Processor

3400+

2.41GHz, 512MB of RAM

GeForce 6200

I tried to play it on Windows 98/me compatable

and it doesnt work. also i dont have .set file in gta user files(all empty)

 

P.S. I uninstalled and re-installed and didn't work/

Do you have the latest updates for your video drivers?

After updating, make sure you delete the set file from the User Files folder.

Is it just me or am i mistaken, I got a support help from Rockstar and they siad to delete the .set file in user files. I don't even have any files in gta san. user files. I only have track folder and gallery folder that are completely empty. Am i mistakened or it is something else of .set file?

i did update my drivers to 163.75, and also do i have to load the game to get the .set file cuz i dont see it any where in my user files or do i have to delete it from a diff. place

The .set file basically contains information of the settings you're using to play SA with. Once you access the menu for the first time, the file is automatically created in the GTA SA User Files folder with the default settings. Since you're unable to go past the logo screens, you wouldn't have one in the folder; I'd advise you to go change your copy of the game.

 

Such problems are sometimes known to occur with pirated versions of the game as well. I hope your DVD is legit.

wait i installed it on minimum requirements should i install on high, also i got disk from best buy, the messege error i get is H:/Documents and Settings/(myname)/Locals/Temp/120b appcompat.txt/ i dont know where that is i only see doc. and setting /myname/ and just other files except locals and temp file

I get past logos and titles and then the logo menu appears after that it says GTA_sa.exe error

Temp is usually a hidden folder, you just need to type in the whole string in the adress bar except for the file.

 

I do not know however deleting this file will help you...
