GTAIV-NewYork
Okay, first of all, if this topic is correct then I've spoilt the game for everyone. And, if this is not where it should be please move it. So, after watching Move up, ladies for about 100 times (Thats an exaggeration), Does anyone notice how on the scene where Niko has blood on his shirt, Niko says something very peculiar. He says "Welcome to America". It's almost, to me, as if Niko is copying what Roman says to him at the beginning, and sort of looks like he killed Roman right there. I'm probably wrong, but why would he say to any gangster he killed, Welcome to america? Maybe to the British gangsters. Feedback would be postively great. GTAIV-NewYork
Because they sound very British to me.
Deuce Deuce
I can see why you might think that, but honestly for such a big event in the game I doubt Rockstar would even hint of anything of the sort. Especially since we haven't even played the game yet!

Typhus
Yeah, that's how I interpreted it. I like Roman. I don't think he'll betray you. Think, why would a man who hides in a dumpster suddenly turn on the guy who is protecting him? Family no less. You kill your own family? Man, don't bother dressing warm because it'll be nice and toasty in Hell.
Dejmon
It's also a possibility that Niko blows himself up. Also, it could be that Niko turns out to be a girl. There's also a chance that Niko will get killed and that Roman gets raped. Jeez! Shut it with these stupid "possibility" topics. It's just useless speculating. Rick88
I don't think so. Roman is Niko's only relative and contact in America. Roman would have to do something really really awful to Niko in order for him to kill his on flesh and blood cousin. Perhaps there's an immigrant like him who he was ordered to kill, remember that we're dealing with the Russian mafia here (and possibly the Italians). Deuce Deuce
After watching the third trailer, I'm starting to think that Niko's role over protecting and reassuring Roman is quite similar to how Tommy Vercetti always had to reassure Rosenburg and protect him. What happened at the end of Vice City? They overlooked their mansion in victory. I think something along the same lines will happen to the end of IV. Typhus
I reckon it's the Serbian Mafia. They seem to dislike Russians since they use the word "Russian" in a derogatory way. So, a crime family from another Eastern European nation. Not just the Russians methinks. !!!READ THIS!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosko_Radonjich Don't ignore what is right in front of your eyes. ishouldntbehere
it seems pretty obvious to me that Niko is being SARCASTIC (which i've noticed his character tends to do in those sticky situations like when he says, "We are all looking for that special someone" or "Well since you put it that way, i'm in!"). I like that he's a bit snarky, it makes his character funny and a bit more believable instead of just some boring thick-headed one-line toting gun-slinging bastard. So, Roman gets them into trouble and Niko saves his ass and that's his response because he's kinda pissed that Roman almost got them both killed. Knife
Roman's the type to betray you, so I'm fairly sure he has to go. Uh, how? I think this would be a silly and cheap plot twist. Roman obviously looks up to Niko, it's a friendly relationship. Roman is the 'wouldn't hurt a fly' type character, a nervous wreck by the looks of things. Niko is there to HELP him, it would ruin the whole feel of the game if he just ends up killing him.

I would say he is the "bumbling sidekick" type than the "help you out and then betray you" type. Besides that plot twist is really getting old, it was in all GTA games one way or another. I would really like a change and perhaps even give YOU the chance to betray someone, which I hope is the case with this whole "plot your own destiny" story. Well anyways, I just hope Roman is at least more useful than Rosenberg was.

This also brings into the conversation the realism factor. We have been told that our actions will cause real consequences. What if we chose to kill Roman? Just walk up and shoot him between a mission. What happens then?
Knife
What happens then? Fail mission. Restart. Otherwise, half the game would just not be playable.
Oldsmobile
My guess is that some of Niko's enemies from the "old country" decided to track him down (and kill him) in America, and Niko "welcomes them to America" just after/before he kills them. Just walk up and shoot him between a mission. What happens then? You have a point, which is why then again I said "more useful" than Rosenberg. I didn't rule out the fact that Rosengberg was useful to an extent . I also meant in missions, I hope Roman would at least accompany you on some missions and lend a hand; although it also worries me that he'll just be one of those type of characters that get in the way. You also have a point there and is also something that's been itching in my mind. I recall on an Australian or a German site (I think ) that you will actually be able to kill certain characters and the story will still progress. As an example, they said that you could kill Little Jacob, but if you did, it would be even harder to get ahold of firearms in the game. I imagine our freedom in the game will be limited and Roman will just be one of those characters you won't be able to kill in the game. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out in the end.
YourNeighborhoodKiller
Damnnn ahha, GREAT find man, never thought of that, it could very well be Roman he killed, I mean just like in Vice City when Lance betrayed Tommy. The same thing could happen in IV, since Roman did lie to him, maybe he sets him up or something, just like in what happened in Vice City. Overall I could really see this happening. But if this doesn't happen, in my opinion Roman is a Ken Rosenberg RIP-OFF.
ceedot
WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK NIKO IS GOING TO KILL HIS OWN f*ckING COUSIN!?!?! It pisses me off so much.
