Hey. I just returned to playing Vice city and the last mission I left off at was Sir, Yes sir. It is a mission of Cortez, it involves you finding the tank, stealing it and taking it to a garage or something. I've tried quite a few times but whenever I get near it they all shoot me. There is no way to surivive all of them shooting you so how the hell do I get myself in that tank?

 

Any suggestions?

There are various methods but one of the easiest is to wait until they stop for doughnuts. Then you can run up to the tank and hijack it. Once you're inside they can't touch you - as long as you keep it moving

Have you waited for the convoy to stop at the donut shop? Once this happens, you can pick out a vantage point, and start firing away. Try shooting from as far away as you can, and take out the vehicles. You'll probably have to shoot the tank a couple of times to get the people inside it to bail. Once they do, take the tank to the garage. Or you can hijack it, as Steve Crook said.

 

Sorry I can't give you too much detail. It's been a while since I played this mission.

Just shoot the guy who's head is sticking out of the top of the tank.

 

The whole convoy stops and then the driver gets out, run to the tank and get in. AND DO NOT STOP ONCE IN THE TANK. Map our a route as soon as you know where you're going. They can't stop you if the tank is moving

A good method is to get a lot of grenades

 

then start the mission, get a Helicopter and land on one of the rooftops the convoy drives past.

 

throw grenades onto them when they pass and fire some sniper bullets at them to make them stop driving.

 

Continue shooting and throwing grenades until most of them are dead, then jump down, or fly down with the Chopper, break off the doors in any way you can, steal the Rhino and simply drive to your destination.

But don't land the helicopter in the path of the convoy.

It will block them and stop them like parking any other vehicle will. But the soldier sent to move it can't fly a helicopter and it jams everything up. The tank doesn't become available and the convoy can't get past the parked helicopter

If you found 90 hidden packages, you'll unlock the rhino tank and the mission would be simpler

 

 

 

1. Park your tank away from the pink glow again to ensure it stays

where you leave it. After seeing Cortez you will need to drive your

tank over the bridge into Vice City West. Take the closest bridge and

proceed up the main road, on the western side.

 

2. As you get near to the yellow dot you should see a convoy of

army vehicles driving slowly down the road. Smash into the 2 in front

of the other tank, drive along and crush the soldiers on the

pavement, and finally ram into the 2 vehicles behind it. This will

take care of 90% of the guards.

 

3. Now the other tank should've stopped, and you should too. Don't

worry if you hear gunfire, leap out of your tank and lock onto

anybody. Your Python should take care of any survivors. Now step into

the tank and promptly get out of there.

 

4. In a moment a new destination will pop up on your map, and you

have roughly 2 minutes to get there. Use your START map to find a

suitable route and don't cut corners too badly, as the tank can get

caught underneath fallen lampposts. Ignore the police. Stop in the

pink glow, and then roll into the garage to complete the mission.

A fast way with no shots fired and no preparation (thanks to HandsomeRockus): take a Cheetah from the pier, park right in front of the tank so the driver gets out, then drive the tank to the garage.

Use the south bridge to get across to the other island.

Stop at the end and pick up the sniper rifle on the tower on the bridge.

Then, go to the donut shop and walk along the palm trees. one of then is at a low enough angle to stand on it.

When the army stops at the shop, pick of the heads of the troops with the sniper, start with the gunner on the tank.

You hear the Sir Yes Sir as they head into get doughnuts. You also will have limited time, I almost waited too long and he came back out! I still took the Rhino without incident.

The thing is, this mission is made so much easier with that interlude, it's one of the easiest in the whole game!!
