Usually people just make fun of it's "dirtiness" or "pollution" or whatever...For the 8 years of my life I lived there it was fine to me. I love that place. In fact, when I watched that with my friend from New York, he exploded into a thick Brooklyn accent, and started laughing and saying, "It's true, it's true, it's a complete sh*t hole, not even rats step foot there, that's while they were all in New York." That's my guess, anyway. I think New Jersey generally gets a rap as being a sh*thole town in a lot of media though, not just Futurama. I'm from the New York city area and there is this huge superiority complex in New York state. The reason given is usually that "it smells." NJ is fine, no one talks with terribly thick accents, there's not power plants in every city, and we are not lesser people than New Yorkers. People from NY with money buy homes here, so what the hell....NJ houses lots of celebs and big-shots from NY. It's a great state and there's a lot of great cities. I go to a family friends house for Christmas in New Jersey and i love their house!!! Their neighborhood is really fancy Yes we New Yorkers like making fun of people from New Jersey.
