Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus
@ on top of top: Yes, Freddy Mercury just screams GTA. "NY State of Mind" by Nas, or "Streets of New York" by Kool G Rap. I'd rather not see most of the mainstream rap, like 50 Cent, Jay-Z, etc. Isn't Nas a mainstream rapper? I mean, everyone knows who he is.
XBOXLOVER
I like rap music, but if the trailer had, lets say death metal, I wouldn't say, aw sh!t Niko's gonna be one of those annoying emo people or a white supremacist. Are you saying that everybody that listens to Death Metal is Emo or Racist? Whos not useing there brain now?

I'd rather not see most of the mainstream rap, like 50 Cent, Jay-Z, etc. Isn't Nas a mainstream rapper? I mean, everyone knows who he is. I'm talking modern mainstream rap. The Nas songs I'd prefer are from his first album, that came out back in the early '90s. That's not modern mainstream. The Kool G Rap song I'd like in the game, that's mainstream but it's from 1990. I'm not saying that I don't like any mainstream music, but most mainstream rap nowadays just makes my blood boil. But hey, that's just my opinion. I'm more of a rocker, but when it comes to rap I'd just prefer some older stuff. TC718 / <629 / CF5
swishersweets20031
every gta has had rap / country/ hip hop/ rock/ in all forms so whats the big deal about the music.. i just hope they have some songs in there that i really like. even on gta's with music i didnt like so well it seemed to fit for video game music as you drove around doing missions. Plus even found out somes songs i thought i'd never like i ended up liking. seems to grow on you after 20 hours of playing. one thing i do wish was added to the game the character being able to purchase a walkman and use the stored music on your system to be your walkman playlist as you roamed around the city. for as being gangster.. every gta character was a gangster. so why complain? Hope
Ok, I know it will maybe finish in a "music war" (maybe not, it depends if we can stay mature and constructive) and get locked, I know people who don't like rap will understand what I'm feeling, others won't but please, can someone explain me why has Rockstar chosen that gangstarap theme again ??? I mean, I can't stand that music and lifestyle and it almost ruined my game in San Andreas but I have to admit it was essential to fit with the place and the character, but here... what's the reason ? Same as the III's mafia theme and VC's 80's theme, rap fans have got what they wanted with SA. So, isn't it time to turn the page contrary to Saint's Row ? Please Rockstar, think to the others next time and why not, be less "Rapstar". PS: My english is very bad so if it's incomprehensible please tell me and I'll try to fix it. Not all rap songs are associated gangsters and rich people, bitches, etc... That's just what the media shows you, it's a common misconception. In truth, rap is just like any other genre of music, there's lots of diversity in it. Also, the song chosen for the third trailer wasn't a gangster rap song. Anyway, I love rap music - but I love all genres of music.
Slamman
allright not in lcs. but he did become a gangster does that count? Vice City Stories I would say he was not really a gangster. When the game construct is as it is, the plots that would make it work seem to fall along similar lines. I think Rockstar is not above taking the very idea of interactive entertainment, which Sam Hauser said is the core of what they try to build from, into a somewhat new universe in the years ahead... I think people would be excepting. It would seem to suggest the music all be current to the new GTAs on the horizon, but can't predict that to be certain either
SIXAXIS
Dude, its a song in the damn trailer. Have you forgotten that there are a bunch of different radio stations? Just cause there is a rap song for the trailer doesnt mean Niko will be a gangsta. Seriously can you just use some common sense for Gods sake? Think man, use that little thing in your head called a brain! Did you use it yet? Do you have one? Are you an idiot? Sorry, but i just really hate ignorance. The dude hears one rap song, and whines like a bitch. Sometimes i just want to rip my damn hair out!! Thats like saying if the trailer had a f*ckin country song in it, then Niko must be a redneck! Are you using your brain yet? What kind of f*ckin logic is that? Oh no, there is a Nsync song in the trailer, will Niko be in a boy group? Are you usin your brain yet? Now i appologize for ripping you to shreds. My name is Airfonzo and i approve of this message My name is SIXAXIS and I approve of this message. carcols.dat
The song chosen for this trailer couldn't have fit better with the scenes. I highly doubt Rockstar will make this game "gangster" themed, although I do agree with the original poster on premises that it ruined SA for me. EDIT:First of all, the theme wasn't rap, although the trailer was a sort of rap song. If you think about it, rock definately wouldn't have suited the action of the trailer, and I see the trailer music fit perfectly. I liked the S.A trailer because of the Welcome to the Jungle song, and that was the only song that would fit that certain trailer. The thing that pisses me off is that all the rock fans can't stand rap, where as rap fans like me can stand rock because I see all music as great, especially if it fits in. Niko is not a rapper, not a wigga, but a gangster. Not all gangsters are African Americans, so let's push that out of the way. Gangsters are thugs, who stick with a gang, causing trouble and mayhem. Niko is definately a gangster considering he was shooting a whole lot of people in that trailer, and because we already know he is going to. They aren't going for the rap theme, so don't worry about it.

Rashon.
Complaining about the trailer song is plain ridiculous. For one, it's Russian Rap, not anything from America Rap and even if you don't care what kind of rap it is, so what? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others will like it. You hate rap that much. Just focus on the trailer and don't focus on silly things.

TheDude5000
The second trailer was just so much better, especially the song. But the point is I'm pretty sure they won't have the retarded "gangster" theme in this game. First trailer was some sort of opera type, epic unveiling song, second trailer was an indy/punk rock sorta thing(New York is known first for punk and other various rock scenes). No one genre of music is represented more than the other, so I'm thinking this game's atmosphere and theme won't depend on a specific genre. Unlike San Andreas with grunge, GTA III with Italian opera, and Vice with new wave/hair metal.
Algonquin Assassin
Yeah I don't really like rap (Some is alright), but others do. I also don't think it will have a "ganster" theme. Niko is the last person in the GTA world that I would call a "ganster". I'm talking about a CJ type gangster, as I know persons in organized crime such as the Mafia, or Yakuza can still fall under the same banner. Though I prefer "mobster". The theme will be alot like GTA III's modern, and gritty theme. Edited December 8, 2007 by Miamivicecity
KeNrosenberG
Bitch i am black!! You callin me racists cause i said gangsta? When i say f*ckin gangsta i mean a person gang bangin in the f*ckin hood. Pull that thong out your ass. Go have a drink, calm down and shut the f*ck up. Look motherf*cker, a gangsta is a f*cked up spelling of gangster. Get that in your head, it's not a gangbanger, aight and it's mostly hear confused white people who say that sh*t, I ain't hear black people say sh*t like that on the internet. But plenty of whites do, just to diss blacks, I don't care who says it, you're f*cking retarded none the less. Man, im not speakin on this anymore. When i lived in the hood, i wasnt a gangbanger or nothin like that. But when we called ourselves, gangster, we said "gangsta" not "gangster". I was young and dumb, but are you really gonna sit there and say that black people dont say "gangsta"? Get the f*ck outta here.. Anyways, im done. Dont expect a response from me. No and we don't say "Hood". Whenever someone going to their ends, which is an all black ghetto, no one says "Let's go to our hood". They'd get dissed and laughed at. And I don't think I've heard a lot of my friends say gangster, I don't think I ever have... When me and my friends see a drug dealer or someone in a gang, we don't refer to them as gangsters. For example "'ey, I would be careful, there's a drug dealer who comes out and night with his boys and will jack you up". ------- Well, I have heard blacks say gangster, they say some sh*t like "You ain't a gangster, you a wankster".
